i loved our spring mantel, but since easter is over, i put away the bunnies and made a few small changes.
you can see the before pics here. i spray painted the clear vases yellow. they were from the dollar store so i wasn’t worried about ruining them. and they turned out great!
i added in a few sea stars, a vintage mexican vase and a driftwood heart.
on the other side of the room i added a couple little yellow frames that i thrifted and spray painted. the yellow touches feel fresh for summer. the pomegranate painting was also a thrifted find.
and the pennant banner with ‘family’ will be staying for a while.
i’ve got spring fever–i’m so ready for summer. how about you?!
Any tips for decorating a mantel with a tv above it?
We found a very cool mantel that fits perfectly around our gas fireplace. It’s beautiful but I’m stuck on how to decorate with a tv above it.
So beautiful mantel and so lovely blog… BICOS (Galician Kisses)

Spray painting glass vases — brilliant! Thanks for the great tip. The yellow you used is so pretty. Can you share what brand/color of spray paint? Love everything you’ve done — so happy and fresh. That bottle w/the flowers on it is stunning…was it a thrift store find?
Love it! so fresh and light
I have to ask where you got that blue chair? It is adorable and exactly what I’m looking for to create a reading nook in my home!
hi megan! it’s a vintage chair i recovered in amy butler fabric!
You did that yourself? Looks very well done. I think I might have just found a similar one on craigslist and now I’m dying to have it but wouldnt know where to start with reupholstering it!
sigh
your sweet posts are simply inspiring!
xoxo
The yellow is so sunny! And, frankly, since the climbing rose vine came scratching at the door this afternoon to inform me the tomato plants are demanding snorkels…. I’d say we’re ready for some sunshine!
loving the lime green!
Hi Lisa, so so pretty. I love the way you find thrifty treasures and enliven them with spray paint. I must try this too.
Giggle, oh yes to Spring.. we are in late Autumn here in New Zealand and we have Winter still to come! I adore Spring most of all, so can’t wait! LOLOL.. only a few months to go.. phooey! Smiles…
I love the color combinations!! So refreshing and relaxing. Your eye for decorating is so inspiring! Thanks for sharing your ideas!
So pretty, Lisa! looks so summery and colorful & fun. xoxo
Love it Lisa! I don’t remember if I got my branches-in-a-vase idea from you, or if we just think alike. My mantel has branches with starfish hanging from them with twine. Check out my blog – it’s on my Sunday, May 15th post.

I am sooo ready for summer! I love the pops of yellow. When spray painting the vases. Do you paint the inside or the outside? Thanks!
i love the yellow! i also think the books covered in fun patters is a brilliant idea!!
so cute!! question, where did you find the pear painting? I have a set of twins and collect pears for my pair 🙂
it’s a lisa hartwell. you can try googling her!
this is beautiful! did you repaint the mirror too? i love the colors!
LOVE the yellow and I have never been a “yellow fan” but it looks lovely! Very summery….refreshing!
On another note, I love your hair. I, too, have curly hair and I fight it every day. Tomorrow I have a hair appointment and I am going to ask my friend if she can help me work with my hair instead of against it. LOL Would be thrilled if I could style mine like yours…..although not likely! I’ll keep you posted!
Beautiful! You are always SO creative! 🙂
LOVE the yellow accents!
oh yes, summer needs to get here already!! 😀
You inspire me to change things up more often and go with seasonal colors. Thank you 🙂
i love the driftwood heart! where did you get it?
i found it on etsy. xo
LOVE the color scheme! This is very natural and perfect for summer time! Looks great, girl!!
So happy and cheerful, Lisa. And I love your outfit from Wednesday. Everything about it is just stunning. 🙂
Yes, ready for warm weather, shorts and lots of trips to the beach.
I love this! So lovely!
Did you get these pictures out of a Better Homes & Gardens magazine? 🙂 Your house is beautiful!! I may have to steal some of your ideas for my own mantel. 🙂
I agree…Im totally ready for spring! I love yard sales and thrifting and am really looking forward to adding curb appeal to our home this year. I just started tackling the challenge of making over our front porch: http://handbagsnpigtails.blogspot.com/2011/05/it-all-began-with-new-flowers.html
