We had another wonderful day in Thailand. Here are a few snippets from our day.
Bougainvillea grows wild everywhere. So pretty.
We visited the Buddhist temple in Khon Kaen and there were so many beautiful things to see–and so much culture represented here.
Hand-painted signs with a sense of humor and statues as big as a house.
This fountain was also at the Buddhist temple. Gorgeous. Everything is so colorful and detailed.
Our friends have been showing us around and introducing us to all kinds of new things.
The night market was fascinating. So many beautiful handmade things and new sites to take in!
I didn’t try the salted fish with lemongrass but I hear it’s delicious.
I love these lanterns glowing in the nighttime sky.
This is by far the farthest I have traveled. We have one more day here and then we make the long 30 hour journey home to see my sweet boys. I can’t wait to hold them. Where is the furthest place you have ever traveled?
Stunning! I would love to had Thailand to my list of places I have traveled. It looks so beautiful.
we had visitors this week who spent two years in Thailand and loved it there. As for me the farthest I’ve ventured is to Hawaii to visit family…and to Costa Rica just for fun. 24 hrs of travel sounds intimidating……but it looks like it was worth the effort!
I loved the pictures of my sister’s current home town – am missing those peeps! So glad you could visit them.
OOH, Thailand – I’d love to go there someday; thinking about it as an option for a surprise 40th trip for my hubby in a few years.
I grew up in WI, and I’m now in Perth, Western Australia (married an Aussie). Growing up we were told on our visits to Ventura that if we dug far enough we’d reach China – turns out if you dig from NYC you’ll end up in Perth! So I’m almost exactly opposite the place I grew up!
The farthest I’ve traveled was to Inner Mongolia, China in 2010. We came home with our daughter Cadence! Your pics remind me of our trip there!
China – to adopt my beautiful daughters!
The Middle East – Israel. Would go again in a heartbeat.
Beautiful pics, Lisa!! What kind of camera do you use?
hi emily! i use a nikon d5000 with an 18-105 lens. xo
Oh, it looks wonderful! I love the fountain.
The furthest I’ve been is Hawaii. I would love to go again.
It depends where you count the point of start of travel from. I’m originally from AZ, but I live in KS, and have traveled various places in Asia including Thailand. I’ve also been to Beirut, Lebanon. One of these days we hope to make it to Europe to see our friends. Isn’t the Night Market fabulous? I also enjoyed the Flower Market near Chinatown in Thailand. Amazing place, wonderful people, unique smells.
VietNam….to bring our beautiful baby girl home!!!! Amazing trip amazing country and people. Hope you get to see it someday
Paris, France is the fartherest I’ve been going east. Hawaii the farthest west. Your photos are beautiful, especially the lanterns at night. Thanks for sharing!
Salt Lake City is my home, and the furthest I’ve been is Roma, Italia!!! Love it there 🙂 Be safe coming home!!!
Love, love, love! it all, Lisa! I love the little details like the fact you were in bare feet at the temple.
Would you tell us sometime how you take such a lovely picture (lanterns) at night?
The furthest I’ve travelled was Italy, nearly 4 years ago, with my husband, then 3-year-old daughter, and all of my in-laws. We came back with our second daughter on-board! Nice souvenir, don’t you think?
It looks like you’re having a wonderful visit…and priceless bonding time with your man. 🙂
The farthest I have traveled (so far) is Uganda, Africa.
You friends children are gorgeous, I have always wanted to visit Thailand! Many blessings on your journey!
Korea…to visit Dave while he was on a year remote tour while serving in the Air Force. Our sweet Kaia was just 4 months old when he left. I went twice to cuddle with him and reconnect over that long year apart.
Thailand is on my list or places to visit. It looks beautiful and you two look so happy there!
Urumqi, China is the farthest we’ve been from home. In the summer of 2000. That was before blogging for me, but maybe I should dig out pics and do a little flashback. Hmm.
Happy trails!
Kathmandu, Nepal is the farthest place I’ve been! We’ve been to Thailand too and I can’t wait to get back there! Love your photos…
Vladivostok, Russia (on the Sea of Japan). Which is also where I met my (American) husband. Good trip! 😉
So glad it has been a good (and beautiful!) trip.
wow! how lucky you are to be able to visit such a gorgeous place! i love the fountain pic. the farthest i’ve travelled is to the west coast. (i live on the east coast). have a wonderful rest of your trip and safe travels home. 🙂
Beautiful, beautiful! I can’t believe it’s just one more day. Soak up every second.
I guess England is the farthest I’ve gone, but I’m dying to visit Thailand!
Looks like a wonderful trip! How lucky to have friends there to visit and show you around. Thanks for sharing
I’ve lived in Europe for school and was lucky to travel throughout while there. The farthest I’ve been though is Russia when it was still the the USSR.
I spent (along with my hubby) a long month in Orenburg Russia as we adopted our oldest son and experienced the birth and death of our bio-daughter who was born prematurely in Orenburg. We left Russia with our oldest son and the urn which holds our daughters ashes. It is a long and involved story but Russia holds a special place in my heart.
Tajikistan — more than halfway around the world from DC!
Sounds like you’re having a wonderful time. The scenery looks beautiful and inspiring. The farthest I’ve traveled was from Chicago to Blagoveshensk, Russia (on the Chinese border in the Russian Far East). We had to take 3 different planes and I think we were traveling for 2 whole days. Blago is 14 timezones away from home. The traveling to get there was horrible but we stayed for 3 weeks so it wasn’t that bad. I was volunteering at an environmental camp (Muraviovka Park) with the International Crane Foundation.
Sadly, I am from Kansas and I’ve traveled to about 30 states, but the only time I’ve gone abroad was to St. Lucia for my honeymoon. No too far at all. Desperately want to go to Greece, though!
Love the colorful signage. Love the photos. Thanks for sharing.
In high school I was blessed to be able to go on a 3 week tour of the mediterranean- Greese, Italy, Spain, France, Turkey- awesome -I would love to go back.
Oh my goodness! I live in Thailand! We are in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand. We love it here! Hope you are enjoying your stay! It is starting to get into the hot season, but our nights have been nice and cool still.
angela! that is crazy! we almost visited chiang mai–maybe on our next visit. i hear it’s amazing! xo
Beautiful photos, the lanterns are awesome.
The farthest I’ve ever traveled has been to Germany, first time when I was 16, then for business at the Hanover Fair. Great time! I would love to visit Thailand, though. The culture is like nothing I’ve ever seen and I love to explore their world a bit more someday.
