  1. we did those eggs [cascarones!] when i was a little girl.

glad you got this time away. it really is hard to let go of mommy guilt, isn’t it?

  2. Happy Anniversary! Love the pic of the two of you. Did you take it or did you have someone take it for you? The highlight of my weekend was arriving in New Zealand and exploring Auckland.

  3. Absolute highlight of my weekend was sleeping in next to my husband and waking up to realize that we had the entire day to spend together, doing whatever we wanted. That doesn’t happen very often, especially since we work opposite hours. It was a blissful moment, filled with so much possibility!

p.s. I love your blog. Long time follower, first time commenter. 🙂

  4. Congrats! We celebrated 6 years this past weekend and it was so nice. This was our first time leaving the kids overnight since we had our second, and she’s closing in on 2! We both agreed that one of the best parts was having a lazy breakfast in the morning at a local cafe…coffee, people watching, hashbrowns. Ahhh, precious time. Thanks for sharing!

  5. What great photos! You are so right…we need to let go of guilt more often… We feel guilty about the silliest things! My weekend has extended into the week as I hid in my hubby’s suitcase for a business trip away. I am currently enjoying a couple of days of guilt free rest and relaxation. 🙂 Love it.

  6. Happy Anniversary, Lisa! I’m so happy for you that you two had a chance to have just adult time . I wish we could do the same but it won’t happen here in the near future at all, no babysitters.. 🙁
Our weekend was about bicycles. On Sat we bought a big girl bike to our 4yo DD and yesterday we spent at a bike festival. Good times!

  7. I am so glad you and Steve had a nice, relaxing weekend! Sending good thoughts your way for this week. Hope everything goes well on Wednesday!

  8. Happy Anniversary! So, glad you could get away together! Everyone needs that time! We went to a beautiful outdoor wedding at a lovely Horse Farm. My friend the bride, was absolutely stunning. It was a lovely time and truly reminded my husband and I why we got married int he first place. It was a very sentimental and nostalgic night for us. How fun! Then we spent the rest of the weekend at the pool soaking up the sun! We are celebrating our 4th anniversary on Thursday. Woo hoo! Sending prayers for you guys on Wednesday. Best wishes!

  9. HI Lisa My husband and I celebrated 20 years of marriage on August 4th. We have 3 boys and took off for The Farmhouse Inn in Russian River Valley. It was so nice, so quiet similar to your time. We did have to drink wine since we were near Napa.:) they twist your hand

I did a blog post with some cool pics (not anywhere as good as yours) at http://www.gratitudewithgrace.wordpress.com

Our anny date must be close……
    Best!!!

  10. Lisa honey, I just LOVE that photo of the two of you. So happy, so loving and yes very ‘connected’. The highlight of my weekend was actually our Monday! I got to help split big logs and was stacking them! A dear friend’s hubby came and cut down two eucalyptus trees for next year’s firewood and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the log splitter axe! I just love doing physical work, even though I’m only 5ft 4″ with a small frame! Smiles…

  11. No wonder we didn’t see you this Sunday. We were in SLO and I was wearing my red cherries necklace! But a couple of highlights: At a memorial service it was confirmed for Dan that his friend, whose life we were celebrating had, in fact, received Christ at a Promise Keepers conference. He had spoken with Jed about the conference, but had to cut the conversation short — all this right before American Eagle shut down in SLO. He went to Champaign, IL and we came to LA. Saw him in November but it never came up. He died of cancer. My other highlights were the celebration of 30 years of marriage for my brother-in-law and sister-in-law. And then getting together with some friends from our Sounds of Grace days in the 70s — had lunch at Firestone and just enjoyed fellowship. And next weekend we’ll be up for Jen’s wedding, so looking forward to another great weekend, even though our trips are cut short now because I have a job to get to. love you

  12. What a gorgeous time! So happy for you! I love your husband’s shirt!

    Two highlights from my weekend:
1: My cherry red necklace arrived from you! LOVE IT!
2: My youngest cousin got married and all the family was involved somehow: I did the rehearsal desserts, my brother officiated, etc. It was just a good old country hoe-down with the wedding outside in the misty NW weather, the reception in the barn with big Japanese lanterns, pies for dessert, and jam as favors to take home! You would’ve loved it, I’ll bet!

Good luck this week! All of your readers will be thinking good thoughts for you!

  13. happy anniversary!
my weekend highlight was spending time at home! no where to go, nobody to see! just the family! i cleaned like never before and relaxed! it was wonderful!

  14. Happy Anniversary! Congrats on 11 years!! You are so kind to end your blog each day asking what everyone else is up to! Will be praying for you and your family this week…

  15. happy anniversary to you both…i think the highlight of my weekend was going with my son, his girl and my grandsons to chuck e cheese…the first time for the grands to go..one is 3 and one is almost 2…i’m so glad that i was able to go. my morning started off difficult – my husband has been dead a little over a year..i have good days and bad days..saturday started out one of the bad ones..couldn’t stop crying…i was sitting in the front yard with the dog, and just couldn’t stop..i had already told my son no thanks to going to chuck e cheese…after setting outside for a bit i decided i could either sit and cry all day and watch the dog eat ants or i could get up and go with my wonderful family and be a part of their day…so i did!! and i’m glad that i did!!! prayers that all goes well this week for your family…

  16. Buying little goodies for our Little Man on the way and going out to dinner for pizza with my Hubby. It made for a perfect Saturday evening.

  17. The highlight of my weekend was the return home of my 13 year old boys. They have been at their aunt’s ranch for two weeks!! It was a wonderful experience for them–working harder than i’m sure they ever thought possible but loving it all. They learned great new skills and gained a confidence and self worth that only that kind of back breaking work can do 🙂 and I learned that I’m so grateful that I still have 6 years before they are off to college. The absolute pinnacle of the weekend was when all the chaos and nonsense that come with these two were restored in full!!! BLISS!
So glad you had relaxing fulfilling weekend! I think we sometimes forget how important those alone time are just for the parents!!

  18. Lisa I am thrilled that you had a great week end. How does everyone have so much fun? Wow all we do is work work and work. With the state budget cuts and furrough days we can barely make it, and then we have a child with CF with high medical expenses. Just curious how everyone can go on vacation and afford it.? I feel like a stick in the mud with nothing fun and exciting to post.

  19. We had a very productive weekend of shopping and getting ready for school and house projects. It is a good feeling to have accomplished something. I’m glad you had a nice weekend!

  20. Happy for you! (Tad envious. We are celebrating 11 years this summer, too…oh how I wish we could schedule in a getaway.) Ugh – medical procedures for littles can bring anxiety and fear. I will pray for peace for you and Steve (and good results for David).

  21. I love the shirt your husband is wearing and wondered where you purchased it? I see your husband is a cycler and mine is as well and I would love to get him a shirt like that! Also, do you ever offer discounts on your jewelry? I love the necklace with the key. You should add one with a bike stamped that you can put a name on for all the women who have husbands that love to cylce. Thanks, BillieJo

  22. We and I mean, my husband..(I supervised) tiled our den! Ripped out the carpet and tiled. The problem was there is tile in the hallway around it, so we had to fine something that would go with it. We ended up doing a border around the room. It looks great. Did you by the way stay the the Hotel Oceana in Santa Barbara? It’s kinda looks like it by the pics. Love, Love Love that hotel…so cute.

  23. That looks like such a fun (and relaxing) weekend! I had a busy one, full of fun, but a couple of the highlights were sneaking away for lunch with my best friend yesterday and later that afternoon playing with my 3 year old at the pool where he FINALLY trusted me enough to know that I wouldn’t let him drown when I let go of him in the water (he had water wings on, of course). I was so proud of him, watching him kick his legs and flail his arms and try to keep his head above water… all with a huge smile on his face!

  24. lisa, i’ve been visiting your site every new post for about a year now and have never said hello. shame on me, however today i just felt i should 😉 you seem to be a wonderful women and mother and a great example of creativity in action, you inspire me to continue to exercise my own ;).
hope your day is full of blessings!

oh my highlight umm…… oh i got all dolled up to attend a friends wedding, that was wonderful its so much fun to make yourself extra fancy every now and then 😉

  25. Prayers to you on the coming week. I hope all goes well and congratulations for having a relaxing time!!! We all need that…as individuals and as couples.

  26. this past weekend we tackled BUDGETS! ehhh. not so fun, but definitely easier now that we have numbers written down :]

so glad you had a wonderful trip!!!

  27. Watching my son (9 months) go up to the sliding glass door, with his hands up – laughing at my hubby outside while he was cooking on the grill. Then, the dog (choch lab) came to the door and my son tried to give him kisses – but kissed the door instead! Loved it!

  28. Hi Lisa,

So glad you had a nice weekend away – its so hard to not feel guilty when we leave our kids and I think we have to remember that those little weekends away makes us better momma, wives and fill our hearts with peace!

My weekend hightlight was sight seeing in Philly with family – so much history there!! We saw Betsy Ross’ house, the liberty bell and so much more!

Praying for your week as you head to UCLA – David’s Angels will be covering him!

  29. Sounds like it was the perfect getaway. After moving to Virginia my husband and I had to carry two mortgages for the longest time so we didn’t get to go away for our 10 year wedding annivesary as planned. Since then we’ve celebrated 11 years (back in April) and have booked a week’s holiday in Mexico for the beginning of September. I’m really excited to get away, we haven’t had a great getaway in a long time.

Good luck with David tomorrow, thinking of you guys.

  30. Wonderful! Happy Anniversary. The highlight of my weekend was having lunch with my hubby out on our deck and spending some quality time taking in the sun at Robert Moses Beach (on Long island). I am so lucky to live so close to a fabulous beach. It was a perfect beach weekend!

  31. Our weekend was unusually intense. We normally purpose to keep it very low key around home on the weekend….setting the atmosphere for relaxation and rest (even with three lively little girls). It was just intense. My highlight moment came late last night when my husband (of 10 1/2 years) and I were on the sofa, just about ready to pass out. I realized that he and I are close…….very very closely connected on an unexplainable level. Highlight!!

  32. My sweet grandmother turned 90 on Sunday, and we all gathered to celebrate her life and honor her. God knew, 90 years ago when she was born to her mom and dad, that on this last weekend, we’d all be there to sing happy birthday to her. God knew.
    Paige

  33. A highlight from this weekend was making cookies with my daughter: chocolate browning cookies. Even though the recipe called only for white chocolate chips, we chose to add every kind of chip we could find: white, milk, semi-sweet, and peanut butter. YUM!
