yesterday we took a car
to the train
to the underground
to a boat
and then walked 10 blocks and saw some of the big london sites.
the kids loved getting to ride the train, the underground and the boat. and steve and i got a great workout carrying david and his stoller up and down all kinds of stairs!
we saw the london eye and big ben
lots of bridges
there are helpful signs every where reminding tourists to look right or left for traffic. the opposite of what we’re used to!
before dinner we all got super tired and cranky. matthias was so grumpy when we told him to go stand in the phone booth. that’s his best pretend smile. but after dinner we all perked up and we were ready for more fun!
we played in trafalgar square at sunset. i will always remember the kids having so much fun climbing all over the lions with a beautiful sunset behind them.
and then we walked a couple blocks
to take the underground
to the train
to our car
and back to our room where we slept hard!
where is somewhere in the world you want to go and see the sites?
I desperately want to go to London. This past year I did a photo club project called the 365 project. While I was doing this project, I met so many wonderful people from all over the world, but there is one very special girl that I met from Cardiff, wales, about two hours from London, who has become my “heart daughter”. She was doing her 365 project to document her battle with anorexia and depression, and her photos not only broke my heart, but spoke to me. She is such a lovely person, and I am so happy to say that she has regained her physical health. She still works on her mental health and self image every day. I actually sent her one of your necklaces early on in our friendship that simply said “loved” on it. My goal is to get to hug her in person, and photograph that beautiful city!!
I want to go back to London. We landed there on our way to Italy and were there only overnight. On our way to the airport, we rode the tour bus, so at least I could see where everything was, but couldn’t get off since we didn’t have time. If we get the chance to go again, I’ll have to contact you and get some tips. Glad you had this time together. Looks like fun. hugs
Very interesting blog Lisa. I spent my honeymoon in 1968 in London – that was another life and another world. Love your jewelry.
I love the London pics! That’s where I went on my honeymoon. I want to see Roman ruins somewhere.
Love your pictures Lisa. I live pretty near to London but still get so excited whenever I visit and I find it interesting to read everyone’s comments saying how much they want to visit London. I really want to go back to the USA!! Especially New York. A friend of mine has just gotten back from a tour of San Francisco/Los Angeles/Las Vegas and I can’t wait to see her photos. Glad you’re enjoying your trip 🙂
I love these pictures, reminds me of my study abroad there!
If I had to choose…I’d say Greece. Or Australia.
We were in Europe a few weeks ago. Our hotel in London was a couple of blocks away from Euston Station. We took the train to Paris and then rented a car. We saw the Matterhorn in Switzerland, stayed several days in Salzburg, Austria and ended our trip in Munich after seeing Neuschwanstein Castle.
I would love to spend more time in Paris and Bavaria and see other places in England. Italy is on my list of dream vacations.
Where would I like to go? Can my answer be everywhere??
Okay, if I had to choose just one right now… I’d be in Greece!
I remember being 16 and spending a whole day people watching from the back of a lion in Trafalger Square, sitting with 2 friends, talking the world’s problems over. We were on an exchange trip and had a day free to do with as we pleased. The others with us came and went, dropping stuff off for us to watch from our perch while they ran off again. I loved that day. I’d love to relive it =)
The bridges look amazing! I would love to go anywhere outside of the North America…maybe Ireland!
Love your photo’s Lisa!! I’m travelling to London for the first time to visit with my brother whom I haven’t seen in 4 years (super excited!!)
I know you’re busy holidaying with the Brits but are you shooting these stunning photo’s with 1 or 2 different lenses. Not too sure what lens (or lenses?) I should take!! Thanks!!!
That’s it, I’ve GOT to get back there and share it with my kids! Time to start playing the lottery, me thinks!
i too would love to go to london – i have an online friend(that i have met in person)who lives in Kent – and we would have a great visit – her showing me the sights and me seeing them. We would end up at the Old Vic theater, enjoying a wonderful play.
your trip will be talked about for years…congrats
His pretend smile is cute, too!
I’d love to visit Greece and Italy.
looks like a great time. these days i’m jonesing for the tropics.
I remember going to London with my parents when I was 7. The one thing I wanted to do was hit up the FAO Schwarz and that was it. I specifically remember saying to my parents, “If I have to go in and tour another church, I’m going to scream!” Yeah, that wasn’t fun for me at 7. But, I’m dying to get back there! Looks like you are creating a ton of great memories! 🙂
I love the final shot of Big Ben at night! Makes me think of Peter Pan! Looks like you are having a FABULOUS time! So jealous! I just love to travel! Never been outside U.S. except Canada and St. Lucia. By the way – Steve’s face is looking slimmer! South Beach must be working for him!
I think my pick would have to be Australia. I’d like to know the feeling of being underneath the Earth. Thank God for gravity!
wow that looks like SO MUCH FUN! going overseas is a dream of mine; maybe one day it’ll happen! 🙂
The Swiss Alps! Always been on my dream vacation list. I just love the beauty of them. And those little mountain towns – too cute for words!
Mind the Gap! That was something I saw a lot of when I visited London last year. Big beg was just awesome to see in person.
