David loves playing the sandbox–LOVES it! I love it too, because he’s not destroying the house or Matthias’ newest lego creation. And apparently, he’s building up his immunities with a little sandbox snack time. Can you see that little smile on his face? He was so proud of himself! Guess what he wanted to do when I found him all sandy like this? Give me great big kisses! And of course I let him–right after I dunked him in the bathtub.
Your comment about wondering how other people see him touched me…I think all mothers feel that way about their children…. I (feel like) I know exactly what you mean….it hurts to think that not everyone does see our children the way we do…in this case… your love for him is so evident that I hope it makes others look a little deeper…and “really” see him…so they don’t miss out.
He looks quite pleased with himself!
Oh, Legos. We’re just getting into it with a new 5-year-old.
These pictures are so sweet. I love reading about your sweet boy!
At our house we call the eating of the sand “internal exfoliation”. Heh. Thankfully they figure out super quick how yucky sand in the mouth is 🙂
Precious! I love it! I have four boys and this is what they love to do also!!! He is such a cutie and a blessing!!!
lisa, he is perfect. i love that he is dirty and being all boy! 🙂
Oh, Lisa. You can see the absolute joy he’s feeling in that sweet face of his. “You have to eat a peck of dirt before you die!” My kids ate sand, dirt, and unfortunately, a few other things….. and they did all right!
Wow! He really enjoyed himself. That’s the best part of being a child. 🙂
Thanks for making me smile. What a sweet, sweet boy!
🙂
hey, lisa. just been catching up here. and this sweet post blessed my socks off. my elijah loves the sand, too…and huge sandy kisses 🙂

There is so much joy in his face! Thank you for sharing… so sweet and uplifting!
The third photo is by far my favorite – something in that sideways glance and in his beautiful eyes looks like he is thinking about whether or not youre going to let him hug and kiss you when he’s covered in sand (and he looks like he’s going to try it anyway!!)
What a gift you have in his beautiful soul 🙂
Hehe—-SOOOO cute!!
He reminds me of Max from Where The Wild Things Are! So sweet!
David makes me happy! Pictures of a super happy David make me super happy. Thank you for sharing!
PS- My hubby bought me your Family Tree necklace about 2 years ago ( alittle bird may have hinted HEAVILY)…it makes me happy too and I get comments on it all of the time. Thanks for bringing the sunshine!
awh.

david is such a ham!!!
Ha ha–that is one full-bodied sandbox experience! Glad he had such a good time.
God made dirt and dirt don’t hurt. 😉
Lisa, the other day when I was reading one of your posts my heart just overflowed with love for your David. I just kept seeing him as you probably do as his momma…happy & whole. He’s such a treasure! You are blessed.
Oh, thank you Sarah! He has such a big place in my heart–and I love sharing it. I sometimes wonder if others see him the way I do–past his disability and into his soul. He is a treasure.
