I {heart} my blog friends! thank you for being part of our journey.
Congrats for the cover of Artful blog. I have another friend Paige Knudsen who was featured too! That is so awesome. I’ve just went through your whole site and I have to say I love it. It’s so fresh and fun. You are incredibly talented. I’m stumped on what necklace to get from you because I love them all! So I will sit and think on it. Have a great evening.
Hey Lisa, I’m so glad you posted those links to David’s birth story (stories). I hadn’t read them before, and, as always, I really appreciate they way you communicate so honestly and so beautifully. Thanks.
congratulations! i tried finding a store i could pick one up at and there wasn’t one in san francisco! how odd. it looks like the nearest place i can get one is in Fairfield.
thank you for reposting David’s birth story. the part when you wrote about wondering if your baby would look like a monster – i can relate to that. my first baby, Calvin, died when I was 18 weeks pregnant, from amniotic band sequence. he had serious birth defects, and though i had decided to be induced and deliver him, i was afraid to see him. i am so glad that i did. he was the most beautiful, tiny little baby, and as painful as that day was, holding him in my arms was worth it.
you are inspiring and definitely deserve to be in artful blogging :).
A magazine about blogging, surely I am not the only one to see the irony?
Regardless, congratulations. I am proud of you, my famous sister.
Congratulations! I didn’t even know that magazine existed. Much check it out ASAP!
lisa, i only know you from reading your blog…david is very blessed to have you & steve for parents and you are very blessed to have david as your first little one. i thoroughly enjoyed your chapters of your very innermost, deep feelings. we also have a son with special needs. his nightmare began when he he was five years old ( i hate to say it on paper or verbally, because of the controversy, but immunizations affected our little boy in the worst way). mac is now 17 and he adds so much to our family and we love him like he hung the moon. sometimes, i wonder if he did…:) anyways, i truly understand many of your feelings & emotions…take care, you are a without a doubt, a better person because of your beautiful little boy.
okay, now i just realized that there are my toes in that picture. =)
ha!!
I just got that very issue delivered to my door yesterday. I saved it until the boring school paperwork was finished and then had my first flick through, stopping only to read about your blog. I love the stories you tell and the honesty you share with your readers. I’m inspired by you every time I stop by here 🙂
I so love that magazine too! My simple sparrow blog was featured in the summer ’08 issue. Such fun. I would love to get my hands on this issue, but sadly not here in Germany. Yay for you to be in this one!! xox.
Dear Lisa,
I am sure you are extremely busy, so I won’t take much of your time. I also have a blog called Little Tots/Big Ideas. I have a weekly segment called Real Mommies/Real Challenges. Every week I highlight a mom and the challenge she has overcome or is striving to overcome. I would be honored if I could do one on David’s story. I realize I can get a lot of information from your blog, so I would make it very easy for you by just asking a few questions. Would you please go to my blog at http://www.littletotsbigideas.blogspot.com and click on the right side bar on the Real Mommies/Real Challenges? This will give you an idea of what I do with the segment.
I hope to hear from you. I do not post anything until you read and ok what I have written.
Thank you for your beautiful story.
Tina
Little Tots Big Ideas
yay for you! i’ve been thinking for awhile now that you should be in there!
Girl! You are amazing and your testimony encourages my heart. I also spent 45 days in the NICU with a my little girl. She has special needs, also but I would not trade it for anything. May God continue to bless you and use your testimony in so many ways.
Oh, too cool, Lisa! Congratulations! Yippee! (From another special needs mom who writes/blogs!)
I {heart} your love for your family and your jewelry. You are a beautiful mama!!
Congrats Lisa!! I’m so excited for you. Artful blogging is gorgeous! I’m going to have to go hunt down a copy, and of course let the checker know that I ‘know’ you! 😉
Congrats! I read that story when I first discovered your beautiful jewelry & your beautiful blog… it is inspiring & uplifting and wonderful of you to share it so honestly.
Lisa,
I just got chills and applauded and smiled and teared up all at once.
(my husband now thinks I’m crazy)
You are so amazing, David is so amazing.
Wish we could go back to the airport for a few more hours..
Congratulations on the magazine coverage! I just read David’s Story here on your blog–what an amazing little fighter he is!
Thank you so much for sharing David’s story. I have a niece with Schizencephaly and it really is a blessing to her in our lives.
I will look for the magazine tonight! And Lisa, I have loved your blog, but looking back through your journey, I am touched and amazed at the wonder of Him and all He has done!
I have never heard of that magazine but like the others, I’ll have to find a copy. I have never read all of your posts about David either so I am going to go read those now. I love your blog. I work full time and only have a few minutes each day to check blogs but I always look at yours. I love your jewelry and I adore your photography but your sweet nature is what really shines through in your blog. Congratulations.
I was SO excited when I picked up a copy of the magazine the other week and saw you in there!! It was a beautiful piece. Congratulations!!
How cool is that?! I can’t wait to head over to Barnes & Noble to get my hands on a copy. 🙂
I’m embarrassed to say that I didn’t even know this mag existed…must get my hands on one! It looks stunning. Congrats sweet friend.
xoxo

Hi Lisa – congrats on your gorgeous magazine article. You truly deserve it! I love your jewelry, your photographs and mostly the way you love and chronicle your family. Thanks for sharing with us!
Hi Lisa ~ I follow your blog and am always so excited to see your latest posts appear, none more so than today! Congratulations on what looks like a fantastic feature in Artful Blogging, yay to you it is so exciting!! I have also just gone back and read your 5 posts about David’s birth ~ they made me cry and they made me laugh. You are such a gorgeous family and your two little boys are just the sweetest (I really loved the pic you posted a few posts back of Matty feeding David ice-cream, just so sweet!). Enjoy having your wonderful story told in Artful Blogging and have a wonderful day ~ Tina x
p.s. congratulations on your feature in ‘Artful Blogging’. Wish we could get that magazine here in NZ.
Hi Lisa, thank you so so much for sharing David’s story again so I could read it. I can only imagine how you were feeling during this time, especially re the non-helpfulness of hospital staff in the first instance. I have experienced this first hand too and now I completely dig my heels in and don’t budge until they acknowledge and/or tell me what’s happening. When my Dad was alive but in hospital there were many times I had to ‘rock the boat’ to find out how he really was.. it’s not a nice feeling. He was a GP and they used to ignore him because of it.. they even closed the door on him when he had his first triple bypass and he missed out on two meals just because they didn’t want to ‘bother Dr Lamb’. This was way back in 1983 and I was livid (he died in 1998, bless his gorgeous heart).
Your family is so lovely and your spirit reminds me of mine… thank you so much for that. Thank you too for your comment on my blog, it means a lot. Big smiles all the way from New Zealand…
What a lovely story. Congratulations on the magazine. I will have to look for it.
Congratulations I love your blog 🙂 and I always read it just before I am going to bed in the UK . Sweet dreams xx
Lisa~ I only recently started following your blog…but in those few short months you have shared your heart so openly. Thank you for that. Reading your story today, I went from tears in my eyes, to sobs, to tears of joy for such a wonderful God we have. Peace in the midst of pain. Joy in the midst of heartache. This blog-o-sphere is so weird in the way we feel like we ‘know’ each other…but I just want to give you a big hug right now. 🙂 BTW…were you part of PCF at SLO? You alude to some things that remind me of my brother’s time at SLO…just wondering if it’s the same group… <3
Dearest Lisa & Family,
You are all such an inspiration. I am so proud of all of you. Just living life, moving forward, being a family. Life is short enough as it is, but to be so in love and like with one another is brilliant. I struggle with the blues, but I am lucky enough to have a beautiful family of my own, and realize, life is just life, and that God has blessed us to move forward. We all make mistakes, we all are dealt an unfair hand in one way or another, but I still stand by my explanation, “Life is life, it is what we do that matters.” I’m so glad to meet a family that makes lemonade instead of sucking on the bitterness. Thank you.
Love,
Jess
I picked up a copy of Artful Blogging about two weeks ago and about a day after I found your blog. I was so excited to see you in there. Congrats! I look forward to your posts each day now.
Have a lovely day!

When I think artful blogging, you immediately come to mind! I am so drawn to your images an stories. I feel like I should move you from my craft blog section to the family section of my reader – that’s how close I feel to the everyday aspects of your blog. wow…your story has brought back so many of my own memories…i had twins in nicu for 5 weeks, home for 3 and then back on life support for 4…i still don’t feel me….they are 8 now, and everyday i am thankful because it could have been worse, but we are still filled with drs and specialists…maybe this IS me now…take care and thanks for sharing your story…xxx
i am so happy that this magazine inspired me to finally get in touch with you! just magical. your story really inspired and touched me and helped me to see into my motherhood more clearly! when my motherhood path went off in an unexpected direction as yours did (and often still does 🙂 it really taught me to slow down and see the beauty in all of the really small things. it is the sum of all these tiny moments that make up a beautiful life and remind me of all there is to be grateful for. you share that so wonderfully here and with your creative gifts to the world. thank you lisa!
You are a blessing!
