Yesterday I woke up, posted ‘hello monday’ to my blog, made my to-do list and I was ready to have a productive day. Early afternoon I noticed something unusual about David, called the doctor, rushed to the ER for more tests, prayed and prayed he wouldn’t need surgery and 4 hours later we got the great news–we get to go home! Antibotics should solve the problem and after giving him his third dose this morning, he already seems to be perking up. Thank you Lord!
Days like this are a reminder that I am not in control. I can make my to-do list, I can plan my days, but it is God who decides what each day holds and how each moment will go. Yesterday I felt the full range of emotions, fear, frustration, and peace. Did I mention fear? Ugh. I hate that feeling.
Today I’m making another to-do list but trying to hold to it loosely. I need to remember, I’m not in control.
I wonder what God has planned today?
As a mama of a little girl born with a congenital heart defect that has underwent numerous surgeries and scares and health issues. I just relate to all that you have shared. Thank the Lord for holding us and being there and in control. Peace to you and your fam Lisa
sorry you had this kinda day. but i needed to hear your outlook and message.
I have a son with special needs, and know all to well the range of emotions that you speak of. You’re photography, writing, and your humble expression of God’s love is an inspiration to me! I’m so glad that David is doing better and prayers of continued health and healing. My motto has always been, “Not just one day at a time, but one hour, one minutue, and one second at a time” Our soul waits for the Lord; He is our help and shield. Our heart is glad in him…Psalm 33:20
Julie, I so relate to your words–minute by minute! Love that verse. xx
In our preschool classroom we would post “Our Very Flexible Schedule.” Some days you can try to make plans, but they just won’t work. So good to hear that David is Okay. Have a peaceful anniversary.
All good things, you deserve it!
Proverbs 19:21 (NIV) “Many are the plans in a personโs heart, but it is the Lordโs purpose that prevails.” So glad David is okay ๐
Glad he’s okay! Time to plan your wine and cheese party with your new wine charms?
So glad to hear that David is OK . . . and that you are rolling with the lack of control!
Sorry to hear David had to go to the ER, and you were all the emotions you listed above! But glad to hear all is going to be alright.
I just had my second child recently and have resigned to the fact that my to-do list is just that .. ‘to-do, someday, sometime, not when I want to!’. I look at my to-do list and wonder how much of the items listed are that important to take time away from my children anyway! ;o)
I’m so glad that David is ok. I hope that he will be back to himself soon. I can’t imagine how stressful this was. Give him an extra snuggle…I think that you could both use it.
Four hrs. in ER worrying takes a toll on you. Having an ill child opens up a whole new world of unimaginable hurt. I trust God has good things planned for you starting with the good news you received that no surgery is required.
I’m glad to hear David is on the mend… fear is not fun!
I’m such a visual person. I love what you said about holding your to do list loosely. I have this image of holding my list too tight and Jesus reaching down and taking it from me and it blowing away in the wind. Glad you are home with you little guy and he’s on the mend. Thank you for the much needed reminder of who is in control.
So sorry to hear your MOnday started off like that.. but glad to hear that your little boy is feeling better already. Sometimes we all need that reminder that we are not in control but God is.
Have a good week
Glad your sweet boy’s ok!
I’m so relieved for you that he is okay. Life is all about having the flexibility to change and the courage to roll with it. Just sayin’
Praise God he is okay & that he got to come home!
I’m so relieved to hear David is doing better. Thank God, for sure!
Thank God everything is OK with David!
So glad that he didn’t need surgery and is doing better today. Being a Mom is seriously tough stuff! You’re an inspiration, Lisa.
So glad that there was good news yesterday after the scare. I hope that enjoying some quality time with David is on the to do list today ๐
Glad to hear David is feeling better with the meds. I think we all need to be reminded A LOT, that God is in control. Hugs today sweet family.
I often have to realize how much i’m NOT in control of each day.
Praying for y’all, i can only imagine the fear that was flowing through you!
i’m so sorry for your er visit but happy that surgery was not needed and that david is feeling better. to do lists always get messed up in my world too. ๐
So glad to hear everything is OK Lisa.
oh, lisa, i’m so sorry to hear that yesterday was a scary day for you. but also so glad to hear that david is already feeling better. and i’m excited to see what God has planned for today. hoping it’s a day of relaxation for you ๐
