Meet Brett, our third dad in our “what rocks about being a dad” series.
You can see the awesome dads from Part 1 and Part 2.
Brett is husband to beautiful Kristen, dad to 3 sweet girls, and owns one of my favorite local coffee shops – the Nautical Bean!
What is your favorite thing about being a dad?
I love being there for these little girls and showing them life. I like taking them on individual “dates” to show them how a lady should be treated.
What is one of your funniest dad moments?
We have a lot of fun. Ok here’s one. I was at a chamber mixer in mission park. Scarlett wasn’t born and I had Zoe and Rozy. We’re hanging by by the fountain and I’m talking to someone and Rozy falls into the water. It was funny and she still talks about falling in that fountain.
What have you learned from your Dad that you want to teach your own kids?
My dad taught me that nothing is free in life. I like that my girls never ask for money, they ask how they can earn money.
What is one of your proudest moments as a dad?
I’ve got a couple of proud moments. I’ll do one per kid.
With Zoe its when she came to work with me when I was between bakers and she baked with me. We didn’t just make a few cookies, we bake over a hundred muffins, sheets of brownies, cooked veggies, cinnamon rolls and more. This was an eight hour shift and she worked hard the whole time.
With Rozy it was when she charged her first hill on a skateboard. I was right there by her and she was so focused on what to do. The funny thing is that she was in Uggs and a skirt. Love that kid.
With Scarlett it’s her heart. Her best friend got cancer and Scarlett was right there with her. She’d go with Autumn to the hospital and love on her friend
What have you things have you learned from having 3 girls?
From having girls I learned how to be more sensitive. Girls need a strong dad that can hold them when they cry.
Thanks Brett! Your family is absolutely beautiful!
His girls were playing with our whimsical bubble wands!

I also fell into water under my father’s supervision! I was probably two or three, and my dad took my older sister and I to the park on Christmas Eve…a warm Christmas Eve, though. I was walking on the low stone ledge around the pond, when, and you have to hear my dad say it, “I was right beside her and then all of a sudden she was just in the water! I don’t know how it happened!” So he took me home. To my mother. Who probably sent him out to get us out of her hair, and she says, “And I took off her jacket and the water just RAN out of her sleeves.” Good times 🙂
hey lisa. I just came over from Momma Me time… I have to say I absolutely love the jewelry you do.. like seriously.. there are some shops that i think are cute, but i LOVE yours… its personal and perfect…
also, i came across this post, and i felt tears welling up in my eyes… how wonderful giving dads the opportunity to be who they are, since in blog land we focus so much on us as mommas… seriously.. its beautiful, not to mention the pics are gorgeous, with the perfect little family =)
I love the names of his little girls!
The funniest dad moment that comes to mind was actually my brother-in-law’s moment. The first time my sister left him with the baby…she came home and saw my nephew with a very heavy wet diaper on…when she asked him why he hadn’t changed it he answered “It said 10-12 pounds.” He really had no clue that meant the baby’s weight…not how much the diaper could hold…hahaha
I loved when our oldest daughter was a constipated little newborn, and the doctor told us to use these teeny glycerin suppositories with her. My husband did the honors, but didn’t foresee what would happen next: as he was rocking her naked little body with her head on his shoulder and her bum in his hand….a major poop storm hit. It shot across the room. The sound he made is the funniest sound I’ve ever heard.

Hi there! Stopped by from Lisa’s blog and I am so in love with your jewelry! Such beautiful designs! Excited to read more of your posts! :]
my kids love their tickle time with Dad every night.
Funniest dad moment – my husband was dressing our first son in one of those newborn stretchies that snaps in all kinds of weird places. He couldn’t figure it out and minutes later I hear shouts of frustration coming from the other room and the stretchy with the pretty blue clouds just went flying. I think my son just hung out in his diaper and an undershirt that day!
What a beautiful little family<3
How sweet…I love that his girls ask how they can earn money and how can you not fall in love with a girl who skate boards in a skirt and boots!
