matthias and i tried to make heart shaped cookies this afternoon and although they were tasty, they were coming out blob-shaped rather than heart-shaped.
then i got the idea to use the cookie cutter right AFTER they cookies came out of the oven. it worked so much better!
now we have yummy heart-shaped {rather than blob-shaped} cookies. love it.
what’s your favorite thing to bake?
what an awesome idea1 who’d a thought to use the cookie cutter AFTER they were cooked! so smart! we made cupcakes yesterday for the valentine’s party at school (for my 3rd grader!). my girls love to stir, and lick the bowl, but that’s pretty much it until its’ time to add sprinkles!
We make “Madelyn Cupcakes”. My daughter, who is now 5, has EXTENSIVE food allergies so we learn to improvise and this is our favorite recipe! Box of classic white cake mix and 1 can of Diet Rite Raspberry soda…..and that’s it! Mix with hand mixer. Bake as box suggests (350 for 22 minutes??) and top with strawberry flavored icing when cool! She LOVES to put the sprinkles on! Enjoy!
Warmly,
Leslie
Mmmm! I bake almost every day because it’s my second job, but I love to bake red velvet cupcakes best (because I love to eat them!!).
GENIUS!!!! I made cookies recently and they were so blobby! Next time I’ll know what to do.
Lisa, I would never have thought to do that! Brilliant! I’ll have to remember that when I want to cut mine into fun shapes. 🙂
Just a little tidbit of information I got from a friend who worked in a cookie arrangement store… If you use margarine in the batter instead of butter, the cookies will hold their shape and not spread when baked. Best baking advice I’ve gotten:)
I have made millions of sugar cookies, and FINALLY tried that same thing just a few weeks ago. BRILLIANT! 🙂
Our daughter made homemade red velvet whoopie pies with cream cheese frosting in the middle for the Super Bowl….
They were oh so yummy. Bought the Wilton heart shaped pan at Michaels last week so we had to try it out…..
Daddy and brothers loved them too….
Cookies, cookies, cookies…..especially “Monster Cookies'” (peanut butter, oatmeal, M&Ms, chocolate chips) because everyone seems to like them best!
That’s brilliant! It’s pretty much impossible to bake a perfect heart Next time we’re using this idea!
Those look yummy Lisa! Every time I see a heart in nature I think of you. I hope that makes sense! :0)
My favorite thing to bake? My mom’s chocolate chip cookie recipe including some of her “secret” tips to get them oh so soft!
This looks so fun! On Christmas Eve, I was way too tired to bake cookies for Santa with my little guy. He was so disappointed. I think I should repurpose those red and white sprinkles for Valentine’s Cookies. Thanks for the inspiration! My favorite thing to bake is pecan pies because they remind me of my grandma.
The cookies look very yummy, what time will you be delivering those to my place?
I love to bake bread. There’s something very therapeutic about the smell of bread baking that makes a home smell like home. It’s comforting.
Anything. I love to bake.
ooh! will have to use this trick! I’ll be making heart cookies for V-day. (: {I love to bake anything, really … but, cookies seem to top my list!}
Not to mention, if you use the cookie cutter AFTER the oven than you have a perfectly valid excuse to pig out on all the “cut-away” bits 🙂 Ha ha.
yes, all the leftover bits are calorie-free and so yummy! i love it!
Ohhhhhhh! That is a genius idea! Cutting them into shapes AFTER they bake! I am so trying that.
I love to bake anything! We made cookies today too. 🙂
mmmmm…bet they were good.
…what if i liked your heart-shaped cookies better when they were frumpy? ;]
ummm, my favorite thing to bake is apple crisp. with extra cinnamon & sugar!
no maggie, you like my heart-shaped cookies!
Oooh. Yes. I’ve used that trick before.
I love baking cakes!
oh my gosh- i’ll have to do that. we had a disaster of a cookie making memory trying to cut some out. they stuck, they blobbed, they all but looked like cookies. we ate them and enjoyed, but i’m so trying this for our cookies next week. glad you’re little man is home and feeling better. praying for you!
http://www.cookiecrazie.blogspot.com/ Excellent cookie blog… her recipe is on here and they are to DIE for.. also if you will roll out the dough and then put on a cookie sheet and slip in the freezer for about 30 minutes they will cut so much better… Bake them frozen to!
adorable!
fun cookies.
Don’t bake in this house.
Fun to check pictures of all baking.
Happy cookies!
