a friend of mine surprised me with birthday flowers

and i found that darling book above at a thrift store yesterday.

but sectionals can be tricky.

but i found the perfect (ugly) maple coffee table at my favorite thrift shop.

added a super soft rug from target

and a cream throw we already had.

i can’t believe how much it softens up the room.

i might spend a lot of my birthday in this room soaking it up!

  7. I normally don’t like coconut on my desserts, but at the Kaanapali Westin Villa Resort, I had a delicious coconut cream cake. I had it twice, but I have to say that it tasted better the first time I tried it when it was chilled. Yummy!!! Happy Birthday! Love your designs!

    Absolute favorite cake is strawberry shortcake with REAL whipped cream frosting. Lots of fresh sweet strawberries mixed with whipped cream in the center. The cake itself is not sweet and is just oh so soft! We get it all the time from our favorite local bakery!

    My favorite birthday cake growing up was a vanilla cake with a vanilla pudding filling and mocha frosting with chocolate sprinkles. Each year my mother would pick one up from our local bakery. Just delish!!

    I’ve just discovered my new favorite frosting. It is creamy and oh SO not diet. You take 8 oz of cream cheese and blend it till it is smooth, beat in 1/2 cup of sugar, and then 2 cups of whipping cream! Not too sweet, but delicious~ especially on chocolate cake.

As for my favorite cake flavor: When I was growing up, my Dad always loved an angel food cake with cherry frosting. In fact, one of my earliest memories of celebrating his birthday with him is digging into a yummy Cherry-frosted fluffy angel food cake together when I was seven. So, to this day, a birthday cake that can’t be beat—to me—is an angel food cake slathered in homemade cherry frosting. Yum!
