how to: hammered bow necklace

A few months ago, Michael’s Arts & Crafts store asked me to create a necklace to inspire their community. Of course, I was honored to help out! I took our popular, pretty like a bow necklace, and created a simpler, wire-wrapped version. I hope you love it! Cut a length of 16 gauge wire at least 8 inches long {better to have it too long, than too short!}

Place your needle nose pliers about 2” from the end, and create a loop.

Move pliers over about 1.5” and create a second loop. Bring extra wire behind the two loops.

Wrap wire up and around between the two loops to create the center of the bow.

Trim ends of bow to the same length.

Hammer bow to flatten and make it look more like a ribbon.

File any rough edges until smooth.

Use 22 gauge wire and wrap a few small beads for artisan details and finish with chain. Attach hammered bow to beads with jump rings.
