december is really, really busy for me. it’s crunch time, so i work a lot. so in the busyness, i am really trying to take moments to connect with the boys and slow down.
this week we cut out snowflakes to hang from the chandelier and colored our new coloring book with our new crayon roll. we are really into coloring lately. which is great!
a little extra snuggle in the morning is the perfect way to get started. we’ve been late for school a couple times this week, but oh well!
and a husband who is willing to do laundry, eat take out and have lightsaber duals definitely helps me keep my sanity. after this week, things will slow down a bit.

Love the photos and the story – I am in a bit of a state of overwhelment (if that is a word) at the moment – so I have really been reduced to the core needs – tending to my kids – so it has involved lots of snuggling and playing…. hoping to get my head back in to gear soon with some good old sleep!
My kids are 13, 10 1/2 and 6 and my passion is baking, so we are doing LOTS of it! They love it, too. By the way, I have always told my kids (in a joking way), “don’t you ever stop hugging your mother!” Now, my oldest gives me the most hugs of all…even when his friends are around! Merry Christmas!
We’re managing to get through the Hectic Times by just slowing down and reading by the Christmas tree. I filled our book basket and put it next to the the tree alongside some throw pillows. It gives us a little down time every day. On some days, it’s very little…but it does work.
Well, since my “kids” are 23 and 25 and both live out of town, we connect on Facebook and by texting. And every once in awhile, I actually get a real phone call. That’s special. We will see Liz before she goes on her trip with her hubby and in-laws and Danielle will be down here over New Years. We will definitely do something special while they are around.
Last night I finished up the last of 45 snowflakes. They were to decorate our chuch bus for the annual Christmas parade. Tonight we had apple cider and apple/cranberry cobbler to celebrate our family visiting from out of town. A beautiful weekend.
I went to see my daughter today to spend time with her sweet baby girl. I just couldnt quit squeezing her and getting all her kisses. We had a nice day together.
I don’t have kids but I have bee able to spend time with my nephew Judah and his baby sister just arrived 2 days ago. I love just spending time outside with my nephew….since it’s one of his favorite places to be. We useually play some kind of sport together( he’s not even 2 but he’s already athletic).

I took my oldest (6 years old) to experience the Nutcracker for the first time, today. She sat on my lap, all warm and cozy in the dark, and oooohed and ahhhhed at the costumes and the dancers. We cheered when her little friend, one of Mama Ginger’s candies danced. All the way home we hummed and whistled our favorite and most memorable parts of the Suite. A new tradition, I suspect.
Well, I connected with my oldest son. He came home from college today! I miss him so much. This was his first semester away. He is home for a month! YAY!
I am blessed with a 14 year old who is a snuggle bunny, so we get our time in whenever I ask 😉
These times are the MOST important part of life. I don’t let a day go by without a laugh and a kiss.
Today, we ate cake and had a good, long snuggle while watching a family movie. Tomorrow we are going to make a “welcome home from Afghanistan” sign for my brother. 🙂
I recently got my hands on copies of old Christmas specials like A Charlie Brown Christmas and How the Grinch Stole Christmas! B and I will be watching those tomorrow night.
Oh I can’t tell you how much I miss snuggling with my kids in our bed. The youngest is 13 and much too old now, unless he doesn’t feel good. Tonight after church, the boys and I will make hot chocolate and watch the old version of The Grinch.
Funny…we were making snowflakes this week too…and paper angels. It was our two year old first try with scissors and he LOVED it!
I made cupcakes that the three kids decorated with tons of Christmas colored sprinkles and we spent Saturday morning on the “Santa Train” What Fun!

Tonight I’m going to get my guy dressed for bed & then surprise him by not going to bed, but hopping in the car… getting a hot cocoa from Dunkin’ Donuts… and driving around looking at Christmas lights. Can’t wait!
