let’s giveaway two lovebird necklaces!! leave us a comment and tell us about a romantic moment. i remember my first kiss with steve was so wonderful, i lost track of all time and space. i’m not kidding. it was very, very romantic.
Haha its so nice to read things like this, makes me happy.
On our first Valentines Day my husband left me 5 beautiful hallmark cards that were spread out through out my morning. One on the pillow next to me, one in the fridge by the milk, one taped to the mirror in the bathroom, one on the dash board in my car, and the last he personally gave me with a romantic kiss:) Every card was a tear jerker…. I will never forget it.
One of my most romantic moments was when my husband got down on one knee and said “I love you” for the first time when he asked me to marry him π
My most romantic moment would have to be when my husband proposed. We were spending a weekend in St. Augustine, FL. He’d been deployed (Navy) for three months, and still had three months left, but wed managed to meet up while his ship was in FL.
It was December, and there were Christmas lights all around the town square. We were looking at the pretty lights on the big Christmas tree, and right there, he got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him.
Hmmm I guess my most romantic moment would be something so simple like when he would give me foot massages while we watched TV… or when he played my favorite songs on the piano for me. π
I am a very blessed woman to have such a devoted and loving husband. I find it quite a turn-on when he cares for our two boys and helps me around the house. Cooking is a hobby of his of which I love to enjoy the benefits! Perhaps my love language is service – not sure. But when my husband goes out of his way to do something extra special for me, I feel treasured.
But I have to say the deepest bond I feel with my husband is when we pray together – outloud. Call me crazy, but I find my husband’s spiritual life quite inspiring. Because when he is loving his God first, then he will love me the way I need to be loved.
We’ve been married 8 years with 2 children and at this point one of the most romantic things is when he sets the coffee pot or bring me home an unexpected Starbucks. π
My most romantic moment with my husband. Was the night he asked me to marry him. We were on a beach in Hawaii and he actually haad his guitar with him. He learned to play my all time fave love song!
On January 11, 2008 my very loved and spoiled miniature schnauzer Trapper passed away from pancreatic cancer. It was one of the hardest things I have had to deal with – he was like my child. About a week later my husband presented me with a heart shaped locket – inside he placed a picture of Trapper which he had cut down to size so that it would fit so that I could always keep Trapper next to my heart. It was such a loving thing for him to do.
he convinced me to marry him even though I had a ring on my finger from someone ose. Now thats lOVE
We had our first kiss in the parking lot of a restaurant on January 17th. The following year on January 17th, he thought up some reason to head that direction and then suggested we stopped in there for lunch. When we left he took me over to the same spot in the parking lot, kissed me, and asked me to marry him (he had a ring in his pocket). We still celebrate every January 17th!
My husband continues to be romantic after 14 years of marriage. However, one of the most romantic times we have had was when we spent my 37th birthday in NYC. It was during the Christmas season and we hadn’t been away on a vacation alone in literally 8 years. We were giddy. It is one of my favorite memories!
If you’ve ever been apart from your husband for a long period of time, like more than a month, then you know that feeling you get, in your gut, when you see his face again. That moment of pure joy and relief to be back together.
I hope it’s not too late to enter!
A very romantic time for me was my honeymoon in Paris. Floating down the river Seine with the Eiffel tower lit up at night…perfection.
It’s incredible to watch how much generousity and time people are giving to the Nielsons. These simple acts of kindness completely restore my faith in the inherent goodness of humanity (as trite as that sounds).
At the time, this moment broke my heart – but much later, wisdom and hindsight compels this moment to be the most romantic in my life thus far (I’m sorry it’s so long!):
Billowing plumes of cloud collated in the choking sky, wretched, weathered and wistful. Whispers and the dewy mist, knotted and aching in the archaic air, refreshing and restless, stifling but sensual.
His eyes, immense and enigmatic, caught time; captured the seconds that wound around us, like a whirlpool of spent kisses and words. The silence fell between us while distance engulfed all hesitation and resolve; a real rain, a melting mirage of control and denial.
Earlier, the dense, damp droplets had rocketed earthwards, replete with resignation and finality. He had perched on the edge of the bed, amongst the twisted, tired sheets, nervous but honest. Tumultuous expectation ravaged our faces; his hands wrought and wielding desire and devastation; a hopeful heart unshackling the moments we had spent and lived with pellucid, poignant passion.
We writhed through cool, cavernous dusk: the tremulous trickle of water ominous and omnipotent. I followed him. Full of fortitude and fearlessness, through the sinuating snyes and fissures, I silently willed my stoicism to appear ardently alluring.
Then out in the open, the occluding clouds coruscated and coursed across the stormy, starless sky: a semblance of lost hope and love; melancholy mien. I hung my head, truth and trepidation echoing in the darkness underneath closed eyelids. Unblinking, unfolding; a well of dirty, unwashed water and reproach.
The droplets danced on my skin and clung ferociously to coagulated, flocculent hair as I waltzed slowly across the cracked, forlorn pathway. Rivulets of swaying water shone with a quiet clarity; with the iridescence of an incandescent moon. I whirled wistfully to the throbbing flutter of the rain.
Then the seconds stood still. I stood barefoot in the middle of the road; soaked to the skin; feet fighting with the scabrous concrete. I blinked and as eyelashes ceded rufescent cheeks, I felt his fingers tangle with the hair at the nape of my neck; thumbs swept cheekbones, peremptorily; osculating arms wreathed around my waist. The raindrops cradled the space between the corner of a mouth and the indent of a philtrum, and I sensed our lips quivering as we arbitrarily abandoned our fears and farewell for just a few moments longer.
I remember our first Valentines Day together. We weren’t even together for two months yet. He made it seem like he was having a bad day. He texted me and told me he failed his test. When I asked him what he wanted to do for dinner, he said he didn’t know. He said he would be over later. I didn’t want to make a big deal over Valentines Day since he had such a bad day. I got to my house and he was already there. He hung up my dry erase board on the front door and wrote all these sweet things. Then, there were Hershey kisses leading to the bathroom. There he was waiting, with flowers. He was going to make dinner for me while I took a candle lit bath. He made up his bad day so I wouldn’t expect to get anything. I never had thought someone would do something so romantic for me. Of course, I had to marry this man. We celebrated our year anniversary in June; the day before, we welcomed our daughter.
I remember saying goodbye to my now husband (we were dating) after a long evening discussion of him saying we were over and he was getting back with his ex girlfrined. He had this cute little boy look going on with a baseball cap and he grabbed my face ever so gentle and that kiss literally had me on my knees. I have and will never forget that kiss. Lucky for me they didn’t work out and we are now happily married with kids π he had my heart from the very beginning.
That is a beautiful necklace. I have enjoyed reading your blog and looking at your jewelry.
My romantic moment was watching my husband hold our son just after he was born. In the 2 years before that, we suffered two miscarriage and found out that I had a medical issue that was causing them. Paul never lost faith in me or our dreams. That moment was perfect and I was overwhelmed by my love for him (well, for both of them!)
What a beautiful necklace!!!
In my life, the romance comes from knowing that I’m loved unconditionally and unreservedly. I had a moment this evening at the dinner table (while the teenagers were bickering about something, and the 3-yr old was clamoring for attention) where I looked at my husband, and we shared a glance, and I just knew, again, that no one on earth knows me and loves me like he does. I love those moments. They make me melt a little inside.
My most romantic moment was when my husband showed up at home early from work. Told me to pack a bag and whisked me off on a romantic weekend. He had managed to plane everything including childcare without me having a CLUE! It made me feel so special and loved:)
My husband proposed to me while I was making tacos for dinner. He said “Brooke, I would like you to make tacos for me for the rest of my life” on bended knee with a ring in hand. I was so happy that I almost passed out. Seriously. He hugged and kissed me until I realized that what was happening was huge. Really REALLY huge! The best day of my life. The wedding was preety great too π
my engagement story:
Sean took me to Balboa (where our first date was) and we had a very romantic dinner at Villa Nova where we sat upstairs overlooking Newport Bay and he made fun of the couples passing by in their gondolas. After dinner, guess where we ended up? in a Gondola! and about half way through the ride our gondolier asked me to get a bottle out of the water up ahead, when I did there was a message inside,
“This bottle was cast upon the water, in hopes of finding a son and daughter,
of God the father, Spirt and Son,
two separte hearts desiring to become one,
in holy bond before God and man,
to life a life within God’s plan”
His dad wrote that for us and after I read it, Sean got down and proposed.
Of course I said yes and we are getting married on March 4th, 2009, 145 days!! I can’t wait!
This is a sweet story between a teacher(my daugher) and one of her favorite 4 year old student. She calls me ofter to hear an adult
voice but last week she called later than usual. She said she was not having a good day for whatever reason and she was teaching about the president and where they live while in office. So she asked her class
where does the president live and one of her
little students yells out…wash-a-machine CD. Now I think that is a great story!!! Have a great week!!
I celebrated my 40th bday in Sept. My husband managed to get a table for us at the restaurant where we had our first date (The Signature Room in Chicago) even though the restaurant was totally booked. He even had them seat us at the SAME table. It was so romantic and sweet to look out over Chicago and the lake and talk about the past 10 years and dream about the next 10. I’m a lucky woman. π
My hubby isn’t romantic but he trys…..When we were younger he told me he want to make me a special dinner,I agreed but was scared…with that said he made me hamburger helper and i don’t eat that stuff and he was soooooo proud of his dinner….I wasn’t so i ragged on him to try again and the next time was great,he made me a chicken dish with white sauce with fresh veggies….IT was great…..and thats what i love about him he keeps trying and he always makes me happy!!! I can go on and on…… π
I met my husband online. He was living in Strasbourg, France and I was living in Franklin, Ohio. We fell in love slowly through email and phone conversations. After a year he came to see me in the States. While standing in his arms on a street in Cincinnati, Ohio he kissed me and asked me to be his wife. There was a light rain and my knees were weak already from his kiss. It was perfect.
on our 2nd date, we strolled michigan ave in chicago going into various stores. we playfully picked out dishes and furniture and pretended to “make” our life together. we even named 3 boys and 3 girls that afternoon.
now, after 7 years of marriage, we may not have those dishes….but we did make our life together just as we dreamed. most importantly, we’ve added those 3 little girls to our life!
When my now husband and I were dating and a ten-hour-drive apart he surprised me one Valentine’s Day by showing up in a coffee shop my friends and I frequented. He had roses…we got a cup of coffee…and then watched Casablanca at a cool theater in town. I’m still madly in love with him.
I would have to say that the most romantic day I can remember was the day my husband proposed to me. We were high school sweethearts and had been dating for five years and I was just eagerly awaiting the day he would propose. I agreed that I wanted it to be a surprise. So he secretly planned this great weekend trip to San Francisco to “visit my aunt and uncle” for my birthday. The two of us went on a sailboat sunset cruise around the SF Bay and out to the Golden Gate Bridge. Afterwards we took the trolley car to the Equinox, a 360′ revolving restaurant that sits on top of a sky scraper with an awesome view of the city. It was at the restaurant, watching the city lights, that he got down on one knee and proposed to me. It was the happiest day of my life and I was, literally, on top of the world!
Let me start by saying I LOVE all your work! You are so creative and I have been eyeing all your jewlery for some time and just put in an order for my first piece to give to my sister for her birthday! My most romantic moment would be when my boyfriend of now 3 years after only dating him for 2 months flew us away for the day (he is a recreational pilot) to the beaches of the Outer Banks in North Carolina for a day long date. When we landed he had bikes waiting for us at the tiny airport and we biked around the little island and ate burgers before we flew back home. It was straight out of a movie to me! I knew he was the one for me because I was comfortable getting into a 4 seater plane although I had never done that before and I had known him such a short time. The most romantic part was every tiny bump we hit in the air he grabbed my hand and squeezed it and asked if I was OK.
Our first date was to see the movie “Love Story” – yeah it was in the 70’s! Some 20 years later my husband conspired with the local video store to find the movie and gave it to me for Valentine’s Day – totally unexpected! It was so sweet of him!
Thank you for sharing your amazing art – I love every single piece!
For my 26th birthday (a loooong time ago, believe me), DH took me on a two-day trip to a city in the mountains. We hiked, spent time together, and had a nice dinner. He even bought a cute cotton (simple — totally my style) dress for me to wear at our dinner, as he knew I would be wearing shorts and hiking boots all day.
It was very romantic and one of my best birthdays ever.
I think that the moment that sticks in my heart is when my husband and I were dating. We had been dating for about 6 months and as he was leaving my townhouse, he gave me a hug and whispered in my ear, “I think I will keep you.” It was just so him, to say something like that. π 6 months later on the anniversary of our first date, he recreated our first date and asked me to marry him. It’s been 11 years and we have three kiddos.
Wrapping up together as the weather gets chilly — my favorite thing to do and reminds me that every night can be romantic. Love that little bird… and his wing makes me say “awww” π
When my sweetie gave me a carabeener before going away to seek a job in another state (we didn’t know if he would be back or not and we were newly together) Carabeeners are very important when you go rock climbing (he’s a rock climber) since they are often the things that can keep you from falling and crushing yourself. He leaned over and softly said, “There…now you know I would never let you fall…” I know…kind of silly, but it made my heart melt then and it’s now my biggest key chain ever…and it still makes my heart melt every day…even after a year and a half later.
My husband is so amazing.
One of the things that I can remember most was when I was sick in college, we were engaged and I couldnt keep any food down. He brought me a big cooler of gatorade, juices, water, and popsicles. He left a note on the top of the cooler that said “Stay hydrated girl. I love you”. He left it in my dorm lobby. The girl working the desk at the dorm called me in my room and said I had something at the front for me. When I saw it, I couldnt help be say “awwww” outloud. Very sweet and memorable to me!
Before Joel and I were married, we lived an hour apart. Every night we would fall asleep with each other on the phone. It was usually me who fell asleep first and he’d whisper goodnight and hang up.
I guess one “romantic” moment that sticks in my mind, to some would not seem romantic. As I was being rushed down the hall to an emergency C-section when I was 28 weeks along with our son, my husband could not come, and to this day I can still see him standing at the door to my labor and delivery room smiling at me with tears running down his face and signing “I love you.” And the sweetness and love he showed to me every moment of our 2 1/2 month journey through the NICU was amazing. That’s romance. =)
On the wall of one of our favourite cafes – the cafe we went for our first date, my partner had a plaque stuck onto the bricks. It said:
“Will you marry me
On the 30th May 2006 Daniel and Jodi had their first date.
16 months later he asked her to marry him at the same table of the same cafe”
The plaque now lives on our fireplace.
Love the necklace!
my husband took me to a small town on the west coast of vancouver island for my 50th last year. it was great.
My sweetie and I were out for a walk near the river, and when we stopped for a moment, he tucked a flower behind my ear, and kissed me on the nose. Sigh.
My husband serenaded me to “pop” the big question. It was so nice I had mentioned it one time years before and he never forgot… awww. Good times. There are more but that was the most memorable.
Sweet understanding romance- when my husband gets me roses for special occasions, there are always 2 pink roses – 1 for each of our children and 1 white rose for the miscarried baby we lost in the arrangement.
My husband and I are high school sweethearts for starters and went to different colleges about 4 hours apart. When in college, my future husband drove after his hectic day of classes in the middle of the week to surprise me for Valentine’s Day. He finally arrived in the evening and knocked on my apartment door. I was greeted with a beautiful rose at my doorstep and a sign to continue down the stairs of the building. I was greeted with a great big hug and kiss! He had to leave extremely early in the morning to make it back for an early morning class so I felt a little bit like Cinderella and her night at the royal ball! We’ve been married for 6 years and now have an almost 2 year old!
When we were taking care of my mother, who had cancer, and my husband stopped by her house on his lunch hour to see how she was. Roses are nice, but kind acts melt your heart.
I love your lovebird necklace! so my romantic moment π (i can’t write this in english…)
have a nice nice weekend
π
Dancing with the love of my life at our wedding reception for the first time as husband and wife. It was truly a romantic and magical moment.
the birdie necklace is simply gorgeous! oh how I would love to win this! my romantic moment is when I was nearly 14 and I met my husband who at the time was 17. we met on a Church youth exchange whilst playing basketball and from the moment our eyes met we fell in love (he then proceeded to wind me by throwing the ball at me – both of us weren’t paying attention to the game anymore). sounds corny, hey!
oh, what a BEAUTIFUL necklace!
my most romantic moment was only recently:
a perfect sunset at the beach with smores around a campfire while camping with our three boys!
This necklace is beautiful, how do you do it?
Something romantic….when I was dating my husband in college he decorated my hallway and room with rose petals and daisies. It was so sweet of him. He was waiting in my room for me and he did it all just to let me know he cared. (this is all too cheesey, i know)
When my now-husband agreed for us to move up the wedding date to only 3 1/2 weeks away from when we made the decision so my newly-diagnosed-as-terminally-ill dad could walk me down the aisle. I knew he was the one. And still is 15 years later. π
Congrats on the great fundraiser!
I’ve just found your lovely website and blog (from soulemama). You do sweet precious work! and how I would LOVE to win!
My romantic thought: My husband of 30+ years now, has always complimented me on my sewing and quilting projects. That may not sound like a romantic thing to some, but to me, it is. When he explains my work to friends, that compliment is very romantic to me!
Lovely pendant! Romantic moment: first kiss near the river Seine in Paris with fool moon….hmmm
When my husband decided to that we should get baptized together.
There are so many, but I think my favorites are the little ones. The times he picks up my favorite candy for me on his way back from work. Or when he orders me that thing that he knows I will never buy for myself, or when he wakes me up with a nice little back massage…
For me a romantic moment is when Our daughter FINALLY goes to sleep and my husband and I share a pint of Ice cream in bed. Now that is Romance! Also..This is the cutest necklace EVER!!! LOVE IT! Thank you! -Michelle
I just came across your work and absolutely love it! So beautiful!!
ok, romantic moment – I love thinking back to when my husband asked me to marry him. It was a mild winter’s night, snow blanketed the ground. We stood in a grove of trees surrounded by nearby mountains. He’d hung lanterns in the branches and tea lights on the ground. He got down on one knee and when I said yes, we laid on the ground and looked up at the stars. No word of a lie, a shooting star blazed across the sky.
The start to a wonderful life together!
My husband playing “DJ” and choosing just the right song for the moment… whether a dancing song for getting the kitchen cleaned up with our boys or in response to a dinner topic… he always knows what song to play. I love that!
I just discovered your website… the necklaces are beautiful π
I had just had both of my breasts removed and was bald from chemotherapy and my husband told me how beautiful I looked and how much he loved me. To me, that was incredibly romantic. It meant he loved me no matter what. In a very difficult time, I never felt more loved or ironically, more beautiful.
My husband isn’t the romantic type…more like the quiet cowboy type…”He’s not much for words but he sure gets things done”, and still waters runs deep.
I have learned in the last four years that love isn’t just the icing, the decorations, or the rose petals on the floor, but the ties that bind. Often times, couples drift apart after children, lost in the parenting and providing…which did happen. And sometimes it takes hard times to let the love rise to the surface and heal the distance.
Kris and I met in Key West, FL and while expecting our first son, bought a home in the Florida Keys amidst the housing boom of 2004. We are currently in the process of a ‘short sale’ (hopefully) and/or foreclosure (strong possibility). We didn’t anticipate our second child, and me subsequently not working, and the financial burden has slowly been draining our lives…sacrificing even the little things, like haircuts, occasional breakfasts out, or weekend travels, which are truly of little cost. However, when we began rationing out the milk to our growing boys, we both stopped, looked at each other, and Kris said, “This is ridiculous. Something is sadly wrong when we have to limit milk to pay the mortgage.” And the awakening began.
When Kris decided to let the house go so that we could provide a better future for our boys, full of wide open spaces, wilderness, family, community, and balance. This was the healing balm for our family…amidst the tragedy of letting go of material things…we rediscovered ourselves and our balm, our dream and our heart’s journey towards a better life. Now, THAT’s romantic in my book! π
BTW, there is nothing more sexy than when that man of mine is swinging a hammer. I fall in love again every time he builds something!!
One February, I surprised my now husband by taking him camping in the living room of my city apartment and a big snowstorm hit… we slept in a tent on the living room floor. It was much more comfy than actual camping with a big old feather bed and lots of quilts and pillows and twinkle lights and stars hanging from the ceiling. We ended up getting snowed in and stayed there for a week. I was working as a teacher and he was a grad. student at the time and school was closed, and it just kept snowing.
my hubs, the writer and musician, told me he loved me in a song. that was only the beginning of all the romance.
two most romantic moments were during the births of our children when my husband, who i told not to touch me or talk to me, listened and did just that. his support was palpable, as was his love. both times, it was the most romantic thing ever.
One valentines day, my husband and I didn’t have a lot of money. Instead of buying something, my husband hung post it notes all over the house, my car, and my work telling me reasons why he loved me!
The best most sweetest and precious gift my husband gave me…my first mother’s day gift…we didn’t have any money, on mother’s day morning i went to walk down the stairs and at the bottom was a cardboard cutout of him with all of his actual clothes on and even a hat, a cardboard cutout of my daughter, Annabelle in her clothes buckled in her carseat, with a sign made out of cardboard telling me, “To the best wife and mommy ever, we love you!” What more could you even ask for!
My husband and I have been together since we were 15. My first gift to him was a key chain; he was turning 16. We are now 32. I was recently venting to my husband about how I hate myself for always being on the fence about things. I’m a dissorganized neatfreak, I’m a germ-a-fobe that rarely cleans the bathroom, I’m an outspoken intravert. I said to him, “Why can’t I just be ONE way…why do I go back and forth and change all the time? He looked at me and said, “Elisabeth, that is what I love about you.” (I don’t feel so bad about being on the fence anymore.)
When we were dating, my husband used to send me flowers on HIS birthday!
Love, love, love your work. Simply beautiful. π
The most romantic was after our second daughter,(fifth child) was born. My husband went home to tuck the kids in to bed for my sister-in-law. When he came back to the hospital he brought a diamond necklace and tenderly put it on my neck. He couldn’t speak. His eyes had tears in them. He just whispered, “Thank you for my life.”
I remember the 1st time that I was sick and my True Love Forever and soon to be husband! brought me juice and a warm cloth.
its the little things eh?
thanks for reminding me!
π
There was a kooky country love song blaring from my sister’s TV as we were visiting. The singer wondered where would you be, if you wern’t here with me. What sort of adventure would you be on?
I laughed as I asked my husband where he would be, thinking the song was corny. Time stopped as he leaned over and kissed my nose and said, “You are my adventure.”
14 years & 4 kids, and the man still slays me with a single kiss.
My husband of 13 years is in the Army National Guard and about 6 months into a year long deployment to Iraq, I was sitting in the rocking chair rocking our 9 month old daughter and saw my husband walking up on to our front porch. He surprised me by coming home on leave on my birthday!
Just found your blog and jewelry. Love it!
My fiance’ isn’t romantic in the flowers and candles way but there was nothing more romantic than the day he proposed! We’ll be married this June and I can’t wait!
my husband and i have been together since we were 15 years old. 11 years later he still writes me love notes.
Every Saturday morning, my husband gets up and makes my daughter and myself homemade pancakes on a waffle iron he asked for for his birthday just so he could make “his girls” pancakes in bed. Then, my 20 month old, myself, my husband, and our Pomeranian all sit in bed, have homemade waffles, hot chocolate (or milk), and chat. It’s wonderful!
My husband also does many, many things in the day ~ he packs my lunch every day, spoils his girls… he’s just great!
I was pregnant with my first child. It was Mother’s day. My husband got up early before I was awake. He drove around and found the most beautiful wild flowers and picked them for me. Really, they were prettier than any boquet I have ever recieved! He had them waiting in a vase for me (along with a latte from Starbucks!) when I awoke. That was one of the sweetest and most romantic thing he’s done for me!
I have many romantic moments but the simple little things are the ones that mean the most to me. When he stops at the store and buys my favorite cream for my coffee everthough I am not out of it at home, or tries to remember my favorite cereal, or sees something new that he thinks I will like. That lets me know that he is truly thinking about me especially in the little things. We celebrate 4 years married next month.
My engagement was the most romantic time ever! It was the day before Thanksgiving of 2000. I was hyped up, and ready to get the “big question” asked to me the day after Thanksgiving, but my boy had a different plan. We were at his parent’s house, and he asked me if I wanted to go to City Island to see the Christmas lights (He’s originally from Harrisburg, Pa ~ and his parents still live there). I was all excited and ready to go. We walked around the island ~we were the only 2 on the whole island it was great!~, looked at all of the lights, saw the lights of the city sparkling on the river. I was ready to go because it was *freezing*. But, he asked me to sit in a gazeebo overlooking the city, and the walking bridge (that leads to City Island from downtown Harrisburg) glistening in white lights. I was so mad because I was so insanely cold, but he asked me if I would sit with him for just one minute. I was completely oblivious to what was going on. He starts telling me that the last year of our relationship (yes, we got engaged after just 1 year) had been amazing, and that he knew he wanted to spend forever with me. I saw him stand up, get the ring out of his pocket, and get down on one knee. After that I had no clue what he said because I was too busy bawling. He put the ring on, I called my parents, we hugged and kissed… it was great. Then he looks at me and goes “But, you didn’t say yes yet!!”. That was the most amazing day (besides my wedding day and the birth of our baby girl), and he proposed in the most perfect way! <3 <3 <3 <3
I enjoy reading your blog. The jewelry is beautiful! My husband and I have been together since I was 15—dating 7 years, married 18! When he was in college, he would come home each weekend. On his way home, he would stop and buy a pound of gummy bears for me! Now it’s the little things—helping with the housework, bringing home a Reese’s.
My boyfriend is absolutely the most amazing and smartest person I have ever met. He carts flowers to my door all of the time…often with a bottle of red wine. When Obama won, he brought me a box of chocolates and a bottle of champagne. He leaves me beautiful, sweet, endearing love letters on my computer for me to find, and he is always telling me how much he loves me. I cannot believe how lucky I am to have met such a wonderful man after being with someone who was mentally and physically abusive. It is truly the simple things in life that create such romance such as bringing me a cup of coffee or having a meal prepared after a long day at work. I never want him to go away as the puzzle of who I am is now complete.
Thanks for listening, and I adore your necklace!
Super cute necklace! The most romantic thing that has happened to me (still single, so yes this is slightly on the pathetic side still) is a memory where someone surprised me with an encouraging note on my car at a time when I was having a really difficult time.
I hit a really rough patch in college where my life fell apart. My boyfriend at the time contacted pretty much every person I ever came in contact with, including my jr. high band teacher, and had them write a letter telling me the impact I had in their life. He put it all together in a scrap book and gave it to me as a Christmas present. I have never gotten such a sweet gift. We are getting married in 49 days!!!

Congrats on raising all that money! That is just phenomenal…
okay, my romantic story
on our wedding day, I walked down the aisle with my Dad and he “gave me away” (still hate that expression) to my future hubby (Andrew). Andrew looked me right in the eyes and said “the hard part is over, because now we will face it all together”.
When my then boyfriend (now husband) and I were dating, there was always some sort of card or letter tucked away in my car or on my kitchen table for me. I kept them all, b/c they were all just so sweet!! now that we’re parents, any much busier..occassionally, he’ll pull one out and give it to me..again and just say “it’s still true today”..I love it!
I think I need to have my husband read all these posts so he can get some romance ideas!
Necklace is adorable, all your things are fabulous…..
Have a nice weekend.
Susan
I find the little things to be romantic . . . like the emails I receive periodically from my sweet. Or when dinner is started and dishes are washed before I come home from work. it makes me warm & fuzzy.
My husband did one of the sweetest things ever… when we had our first daughter. Soon after her arrival he gave me a gift…..a beautiful pearl necklace for me to wear… and then to give to our daughter, Callie on her wedding day from daddy!
First day at a new job many years ago, husband had packed my lunch. Working my way through the goodies he had given me, I found a note. It read something like “Good luck. I love you.” Totally unexpected. I still have the note tucked away somewhere.
As we held him in our arms we both glazed in each others eyes and new that our greatest wish had come true. My husband bent down and kissed me and then kissed our daughter and together we kissed our first born grandson. We left holding hands from the hospital and we got in the car and my husband said you gave me a beautiful daugher and now our daughter has given me a beautiful grandson. We had dinner and talked all nite about our life and what all the things we wanted to do with our grandson.
Just an extention to our love story.

well,i first want to start by saying i have found your story so special. you have touched my heart. i have read your blog from start to finish and i have cried and laughed. i do not know you personally but you are a very special lady. now,the most romatic thing i can remember with me and my husband is when i knew he was the love of my life. you see, i have known my husband since we were kids in middle school. he has always been my very best friend. he was there for every bad moment in my life. to make a VERY long story short, my best girlfriend was getting married and both me and my husband were in it.well,he was leaving the reception and he came up to give me a hug, well at that moment i looked in his eyes and for some reason i just knew. well, he and i felt the same way but we were both very scared to say it out loud. well, we decided we would give it a go and if it did not work out we promised we would remain friends. well, we have been married now for 4 years and have two beautiful little girls….molli is 2 1/2 and abbi is 4 months old. we are very happy with the step we made.
There are so many romantic aspects of my husband…
-Calling me by a nickname he made up.
-Rushing home everyday after work to see me and our boys.
-Spoiling me with gifts for birthday and Christmas.
-He’s a great listener.
-Wonderful daddy.
-Wonderful hubby.
One of the romantic things (my now husband) when we were dating (and seperated on summer break) was he got me a box of hersheys hugs and kisses and he said that since he couldn’t be there in person I could have a hug and kiss from him each day.
If my husband leaves before my daughter and I get up in the morning he will call and sing the song Good Morning Beautiful to my daughter. To me this is very romantic because I see how he that makes her face light up and I love that he not only calls me beautiful all the time but he does things like this for her too. I pray that someday she finds a man who will do the same for her.
A very romatnic time for me was when we got married. I was very young (18) and my husband is still the best. When he said his vows he had tears in his eyes and I remember feeling like it was just him and I there alone. He is still the best man I have ever known (almost 15 years later)!
Before we were married, my husband used to leave sunflowers on my windsheild while I was at work.
married 10 years
I think my life is so full of romance because my husband puts me first–always! When I’m making dinner he’ll sneak up on me and hug me and kiss me and tell me that he loves me. And while I was pregnant (and fat and bloated and NOT feeling pretty) he would constantly tell me that I’m more beautiful than ever. And after the baby was born, even when I still looked pregnant, he still tells me that. Anyway, I think everyday he teaches me more about love and patience and tenderness. I ask him why he’s so nice to me and he says, “Because I want you to last forever” and he really really means it.
Thanks for giving me an opportunity to remind myself how good my life is.
~Lillian
p.s. I LOVE your stuff! and I adore you:)
Wow that necklace is just too cute!!! But then again all of your necklaces are wonderful
The most romantic thing my husband has done is hmmm there are just so many. He is pretty romantic everyday. But what comes to mind right now is when we were first married, I was out at an Art class at a craft store and was getting home very late. He gets up at 3am for work so I wasnt’ expecting him to be up. When I walked in, he had candles lit all over the place with Hot Cocoa made, it was so cold out. I thought that was the sweetest.
thanks for the contest
deezie
I’ve been having back problems and my husband helps me put on my socks and pants in the morning. Often I have to wake him to help me but he does so willingly. In the evening he especially enjoys helping me take my pants off and then will rub my feet to help distract me from the pain. I’m not sure if this is romance, but it sure is love.
My husband gives me the same flowers that were in our wedding as an anniversary gift. I don’t get them every year, which always leaves a bit of suspense. It’s great that he can remember the flowers!!
My most romantic moment………….. maybe still to come?????
Have a nice day, Heidi
(but i love my husband to bits, he’s the best)
After 25 yrs. of marriage my husband still open the car door for me first!
Love your work!
My husband has a daughter from his first marriage and I started dating him when she was 10. It was so romantic when he told me he had taken her out to a special dinner to tell her about me before he introduced us!!
Honeymoon in Costa Rica – a couples massage over a running stream, next to a volcano with the sounds of nature surrounding us!
My husband writes love notes in the steam on the shower. You can’t see it until I get in shower and steam up the walls again. So nice – so simple.
Married 8 years.
What a great fundraiser!! You rock!
Love the new necklace!!!
The first time my husband (boyfriend then) said I love you! We had been friends for a long time & not sure how or if to take it to the next level. We’ll have been married 25 yrs. in Feb.!
The first time my husband kissed me I was in 7th grade… now 26 years later we celebrated our 20th anniversary. He is still my best friend. He knows my deepest secrets.
The first time my husband kissed me, when we were dating. It was my first kiss, i was only 15, and i seriously had one of those moments they talk about in the movies where you just kick up your leg. he kissed me on our second date, i went inside and had a very girly scream. my dad just looked at me like i was insane but i knew at that very moment he was the one. 16 years later we are still going strong….
One of the most romantic things that my husband did when we were dating (34 years ago!) was he brought me an apothecary jar full of silver Hershey kisses so that when he wasn’t with me I’d still have kisses from him. A little corny but it still brings tears to my eyes!
Love the necklace!
My husband proposed to me on top of the bluff at our favorite hiking place. We were hanging out in the old, wooden hut. We were enjoying the view, it started to snow and he asked me to marry him. It was magical!
Not just one thing, he always puts gas in my car, holds the door for me, all the little things that are special and romantic.
My most romantic moment, well, one of many, was the first time I ever met my husband. We both fell in love at first sight, secretly telling other people but being “friends” first. We met while working in Haiti, during a very violent time of civil unrest. People were being “evacuated” and we were falling in love! I remember driving past rioting, dead bodies, people with machetes and burning tires…to get to the one hotel with a working phone to the states to call my mom and tell her that I knew I had just met my husband. she remembers this story a little differently, she remembers me telling her about me sleeping with a bat under my pillow for safety and all the bad stuff going on. I just remember the man of my dreams….we stayed friends while we were both working there, about 3 months time. then we kept in touch, friends of course, through letters and then he came to visit, again as friends. We married and lived/worked in Haiti for 2 years before moving back to the states to have children. Those memories still move me to tears and amazement and God’s endearing love towards us! wow, that was a long story!:) thanks for letting me share! Thanks for being so generous to people who are in need. hugs Amy
I have been following the Nielson’s story- what a great idea for you to do the fundraiser for them!
My romantic moment is more than just one moment. It actually happens several times a week! Ever since I was pregnant with my now 9 year old daughter, my husband has been massaging my feet at night until I fall asleep. I thought once I gave birth to our baby that this special pampering would end, but years later he still does it. I doze off in such a relaxed state of mind and its nice to have a connection at the end of our long day.
I hope that I am lucky enough to win this necklace. I have been admiring your awesome designs for a quite some time.
one of the most romantic things my husband has done occured on our 15th anniversary. we were living in san diego and he planned a weekend get-away for just the two of us to julian, he made arrangements for care of our 4 boys, and proposed to me all over again with a beautiful ring. We celebrated 23 years together in September!
I’m still waiting for my most romantic moment with my mr. right who’s been taking his time finding me.
I love your designs Lisa. I own 3 and would love to add this one to my collection π
I was feeling especially down one day and my then boyfriend (now husband) decided to bake me my favorite dessert–yellow cake with chocolate frosting. It was the most horrible thing I’ve ever attempted to eat–we laughed and laughed, and I felt so much better that he cared so much…then he took me out to the bakery for cupcakes. Too sweet.
My husband is the sweetest man. He always puts me first and loves me so much. One thing I can think of right now is the trip he planned for me. He knows how I love the beach and had talked about wanting to go one day in the fall instead of the summer. So he completely planned this trip. He was going to surprise me, down to packing my bags, the whole nine yards. One problem – he gave them our email address for some reason and I CHECKED THAT E MAIL confirming our hotel reservations. I was surprised though. By the way, we had a great time at the beach in November! He’s soooo GREAT!
Well, I’m still waiting for that romantic moment with the right person, but I’m sure when it comes it will be wonderful and well worth my long wait π
I can’t say enough how much I love your jewelry. Nearly everyday I get a compliment on my necklace!
One of my romantic moments was when my husband (then boyfriend of 1 month) drove 18 hours straight to watch me graduate boot camp. That was almost 6 years ago and he continues to stand by my side and support everything I do. Now, more and more everyday he helps me especially as I struggle with depression and anxiety. To me, that kind of love and commitment is romantic.
My most romantic day will be in 8 days. My husband returns from a years deployment overseas.
Romance these days comes in funny ways (now that we are one kiddo in and another on the way). It’s when my husband and I put aside our needs and reach out to serve each other. Helping out without being asked is very romantic lately.
A lot with my husband… but I have to choose when he asked me to marry hi’m7 in7 San Juan de Gaztelugatxe (North of Spain)…what a romantic place!!
check it out:
http://www.sanjuandegaztelugatxe.com/fotos/fotos.html
We we were in college (Cal Poly) we would always go to the arboritum to hang out. I remember him writing me poems–which cracked me up considering his personality. The atmosphere with fall leaves and a little chill in the air reminds me of those romantic moments
Wow! You are so wonderful Lisa! I love that you are so willing to share with the Nielson family! AND THEN give away not one but TWO adorable necklaces!
Romantic memory. . . honestly to me right now the most romantic thing, is when my husband comes home from work, and takes the children outside to play, just so I can have a few minutes to myself. Nothing I love more than to watch him and the two rugrats outside playing and laughing together!
Hi there, I just love your jewerly, you are so creative!
As for romance, my hubby is the romantic one. He always makes sure he says I Love You to each one of us everyday/night.
As for a romantic moment, He took me on a white horse carriage ride and fed me delicious food and proposed to me in the carriage. π
My husband and I dated long distance for over a year b/c he got stationed in Italy right after we met. He invited me to visit him there and those were the 2 most romantic weeks of my life!! Walking the “streets” of Venice hand in hand, shopping the Christmas markets in Austria, enjoying lattes and sipping wine in Italy -we both knew we would be together forever. The entire time we were apart I saved every single email from him and put them in a notebook b/c I just knew we’d be married someday. It’s so fun to look back and read all of the romantic things he said to me in those emails. Can’t wait to share them with our kids!
The very first date on went on with Dean he took me to Lake Tahoe and we hiked down to the lake. He had to help me sometimes because it was such a steep incline and when he took my hand….I thought how strong he was and how safe I felt with him guiding me down that hill. It stands out in my mind as a very special moment and now that we are married I still get butterflies thinking about this special day.
ah… your so cute! i don’t want the necklace, but i love your precious comment about p steve. hugs
My hubby and I had the insides of our wedding bands engraved for one another for our wedding. Neither of us knew what the other was putting. When I read mine, it said: “And the tree was happy.” When he read his, it said: “To the moon and back.” We had both chosen words from two very dear children’s books. How sweet and romantic was that??!! π
Romantic moment: too many to count, but I’m especially fond of the mornings my husband let me sleep in while he took care of the baby. Also, handmade valentine cards.
We celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary last fall with a trip to Puerto Rico. We had a very romantic candelit dinner at a small but elegant restaurant in Old San Juan…even had live music. An evening I’ll never forget!
This necklace is great…I’d love to win one!
My husband and I were going to be separated for almost 3 weeks because of his work. Before he left, he hid little notes around the house for me to find while he was gone to remind me how much he loved and missed me!
I married my high school sweetheart…and knew I loved him shortly after I met him. I remember our first I LOVE YOU’S. It went something like this…he was taking me on a date and brought 3 red roses with him (this was unusual, since he always brought sunflowers which were my favorite)…I asked why 3 red roses? He smiled and said they stand for something. My heart of course did flip flops, so I hugged his neck and said…I Love You too. We have argued since that day who actually said it first. I win that argument and it still makes me happy! He has never bought me red roses again…flowers, yes, but never red roses!
Ok, so if I can’t enter twice, take this one out, but it’s really good. π
Right away when my then boyfriend and I started actually “dating”, he kept track of reasons he liked, then loved me…I love your hair. I love your eyes. I love how much you pack for a trip (really? Come on. ;)). I love how passionate you are. I love how much you laugh. I love your family. All in all, he did this for a year without telling me. He was working at Wal-Mart at the time, and worked with the craft department to do an iron-transfer thing, then trimmed that in some cord-type stuff, and then it’s ironed/sewn onto a pink quilting background, complete with dowel hanger thingy. Pretty much awesome. And sweet, and time-consuming! π Very romantic.
Thanks, again, Lisa for all you do for people that are in need of a tremendous blessing!
My husband proposed to me in Disneyland in front of 100’s of people in the center of Cinderella’s Castle. He called me his princess and wanted to be the Prince Charming that would sweep me off my feet and give me my Happily Ever After! Now that was romantic!
When I was in 12 hours of labor and in so much pain, the one moment I remember the most was my husband walking by and touching my toes so gently as if to tell me how much he loved me! It is a moment I’ll never forget!
Cutting flowers for me from our garden – hydrangeas, roses, sunflowers, etc – and placing them in a pretty glass jar, on my kitchen windowsill. π
A few years ago for Christmas my husband wrote me a beautiful poem. It meant more to me than anything he could have bought, and it was so romantic!
Last year,as a surprise, my husband bought 2 angel lights on the Angel Island Xmas Tree, one for our family, one for my mum and stepdad, who were going through a bad time. With the lure of fish and chips on the waterfront, he lured us to Sausalito, where he had booked a room facing Angel Island and we sat on the balcony watching the tree light up. It was magical as the reflection of the tree lights shone almost in a direct line on the water to our balcony. It was very emotional and magical (I’m getting goosebumps thinking about it!!). He is romantic in most ways, but this was very special.
After Fourteen years of marriage, we still make a point to kiss every day, hug multiple times a day, and fall asleep holding hands. Scott is my best friend, a wonderful husband, father and lover and still gets me feeling ooey gooey inside. Love is a decision, romance is a feeling. We’ve been lucky enough to be bountifully blessed with both. My heart beats for him.
Paige
michael romances me in the “little things”…
wrestling with the kids, saturday a.m. breakfasts, ironing a dress for me sundays as we race off for church, dishes after dinner…
everyday since our wedding day he has said to me, “i’m so glad that your my wife.” it is me that is so glad he is my husband. i am blessed!
After the birth of our daughter I suffered an unexpected stroke- suddenly we were faced with things we never imagined!- My husband was AMAZING, he had people praying all over the country, stayed by my side, helped me fight during my recovery, at one of the more critical points my husband held my hand, gazed into my eyes and said, ” we will be fine, we can sell our house move into a one story(so I could use a wheelchair to get to the children- at the time we weren’t sure I would be able to walk again), I can work from home and help with the children- I love you and you are still the most beautiful person in my life!, I will take good care of you!”- needless to say he is my hero- and he HAS always loved and supported me- and God chose to heal me almost completely, only minor health issues from the stroke.- I believe it was all because of prayer, and my husband who stood beside me and fought with me!He is my hero, and the love of my life!
What a wonderful thing you are doing. So sorry that I missed it. Thanks for what you do. Kathy
I would have to say that being romantic is not one of my husbands best qualities. So it is the little things that mean alot. I would have to say that when he sends flowers just because they are on sale is pretty romantic to me.
A guy that I was pretty interested in and I were at a LARP( live action role playing event). He leaped up on a table to try to save me from some “mercenaries” and split his skull open. My friend took me to the Hospital he was transported to. After 17 staples the orderlies called for me to come back. Fearing the worst, I hurried back and found him making jokes with the doctors and nurses and trying to cheer them up. He told me he had to say that I was his girlfriend for the hospital staff to let me back with him. Then he asked if I had a problem with that.
How could I say no to my knight in shining armor? We’ve been dating for seven months now.
the night I met my huband….it was Halloween
1982…I was a sexy (well tried to be) green witch, and when I walked into the party my eyes went straight to the bar where I saw this strange clown who immmediately looked at me the exact same moment as I looked at him…we chatted through the evening and I remember after I left thinking about that clown..just couldn’t get him off my mind..the next day before I walked into my Economics class I was appproached by a guy wo’s eyes I knew..he said “witch” I repled “clown”?…and we walked in to class together and sat next to each other..who knew at that moment our eyes met would lead to 5 beautiful children and a love that I never would have dreamed of having…
This might sound odd, but one of my most romantic moments occurred shortly after the birth of our first child. I was laying in the hospital bed with my eyes closed, trying to get some rest (it was a 25 hour labor…yikes!). My husband thought I was sleeping and came over and kissed me on the forehead! I still remember it so well. All that love of bringing another person into the world, and he was so proud of me.
My Husband isnβt the βromanticβ type but he will do anything for me. He often gets up in the middle of the night to get me glasses of water if I have a cough or make me toast when I am not feeling well. It really is the little things that mean the most.
A couple years ago, I had my second miscarriage on my birthday. I was really struggling with the loss of the baby and the weight I had gained from the pregnancy. My husband knew this. He planned an afternoon out with my 3 sisters shopping just for me. Our mission was to find a nice outfit for a weekend away, including a night out to a nicer dinner spot. My sister’s were told to help me find an outfit, no spending limit, and not to tell me where we were going. My sister’s and I had a great time shopping and my husband and I also had a great time away for the weekend (with the perfect outfit for dinner)
One of my favorite romantic moments was when my husband proposed. He asked me to be his bride on the same bench on which we met. It belonged to a friend so he loaded it up in his truck and drove it to the garden across town where he surprised me by asking me to marry him.
My ex-husband was getting married only five months after our divorce. I had met Steve when I went to work after 9 years of being a stay-at-home mom. The night of the wedding, my two children were, of course, with their father, and I was feeling very low. I went home from work, in a very sad frame of mind, but was surprised to see a stuffed Snoopy sitting inside the front door of my house holding a heart-shaped balloon, and a note that said, “I thought you might want someone to hug tonight.” Even better, Steve came over later in the evening to take me to dinner. Afterward, we walked all over town, and happened upon a street dance being held by a local church. We danced all night and this became one of my favorite evenings of all. We celebrate our 19th wedding anniversary this month – and Snoopy still lives with us!
One of the most romantic moments was when my husband told me he loved me. Immediately after I started dating him I knew that I loved him. Everytime I would see him it was all I could do not to shout out how I felt about him. I was beyond thrilled when four months after we started dating he planned a special afternoon to tell me the three little words I was longing to hear. I quickly and happily told him that I loved him too.
My first date with my husband! It was New Year’s Eve and I went over to his house to celebrate. He had chilled a bottle of wine, made little cheese cubes, and had little smokies. Since I was a runner, I really didn’t eat these things much, but he was so cute about it! Feeding me these himself.
I started dating my husband in high school over 24 years ago and I still remember our first dance. I was floating on clouds because he asked ME to dance!! We are still dancing.
I started dating my husband in high school 24 years ago and i still remember our first dance, I felt like I was floating on clouds because he asked me to dance!! We have been dancing ever since.
My husband is not typically a romantic guy, so I cherish the romantic things he does do. On Christmas eve, a few months after our son was born, we were snuggling on the couch with our perfect bundle of joy. He told me that he was so lucky to have me, & that I had given him the most perfect gift ever – our son, & he gave me a beautiful necklace. Every time I wear that necklace I think of that moment & smile.
my husband doesn’t do the traditional romantic things, but i can always tell that he’s thinking of me. he’ll go out of his way to fill up my car with gas so i don’t need to, and he’ll take the kids to school in the morning even when he’s off from work (and doesn’t need to wake up early)- just to make things a little easier for me in the morning.
My husband is so thoughtful in so many ways. The latest thing that he did was simple but so meaningful to me. He woke up last weekend, took a shower and got his grubby clothes on. Our little boy asked him what he was doing and he said “I’m going to serve mommy today”.
We have a bunch of little painting projects around our house that I’ve been wanting to get done for ages but just can’t get to with 4 kids and I never mention it to him because I know painting is just about his least favorite thing to do. It seems silly but it meant the world to me when he said it the way that he did. And he happily painted all weekend. I’m humbly thankful for such a good man.
My husband and I recently celebrated our second wedding anniversary. We decided to just do small gifts and celebrate with a nice dinner. A few days after our anniversary he surprised me with another gift. He said he just couldn’t resist getting it for me. It was a box full of pampering bath products. We had just found out we were expecting our first baby and he thought I needed to pamper myself. I thought the gift was very thoughtful and romantic.
I love this necklace. The bird is perfect and so cute.
My hubby knows my favorite flower is the Peony… So one time he brought home this single Peony.. Now I looked at it and just smiled as I thought where in the world did he get this since they were not in season… So I gave him a kiss and said thank you and I took it and was going to put it up on the shelf… He then asked… Doesn’t that need water so it doesn’t die? I just looked at him puzzled and said honey it’s fake… He thought it was real… Everytime I look at that flower I smile…
It’s been so neat to read these moments. As for mine, well, just last month I got a jar filled with little envelopes. I’ve been opening one envelope each day and reading sweet little messages like, “I love to wake up next to you.” So sweet and wonderful.
My husband surprised me (and everyone else) at our wedding reception by singing “Now and Forever.” Twelve years later, he still sings it to me frequently and I’m always in tears when he sings the phrase “Sometimes I just hold you, too caught up in me to see, I’m holding a fortune that heaven as given to me.”
My husband leaves me the most romantic notes. When we first met, I worked at Target and would work many nights until 9 or 10 pm. Often, I would go to my car and find a note that would tell me that he “missed me” or “hurry home”. I still get those notes, just not as often as I used to (maybe due to both of us working and our two boys?!!
My husband wrote me a song for my birthday a couple years ago. He had a friend sing the lyrics and recorded it in a studio. I was completely speechless. So romantic!!
At the vow, my husband decided to go first. He astounded me by expressing his own so-called poem. In fact, it made many women cried, even the sign language interpreter. Well, I was speechless because I never or thought he would be so romantic ex: “While I am riding on a white horse, my heart raced when I first saw you. At this moment, I knew I’m your shining knight …..”) Then when it was my turn, I could not even remember my four simple lines. I had to keep looking at the interpreter. This moment I knew I married to the right man.
One of my most romantic moments was when my husband whom I was not dating at the time – we were all skiing together a group from our church – me Southern Belle skiing and ‘battling’ the skis walking back to the car. My husband walked up from behind and in one fell swoop lifted my skiis out of my hands and carried my skiis and his snowboard all the way back…. that my dear was very romantic and just the beginning of many morn romantic memories still coming eleven years later.
Thanks for the game! It’s fun and the Birdie is cute!
on our honeymoom my husband and I stayed at a bed and breakfast, it was so nice to have a weekend away….we had our daughter before we got married so it was a nice weekend away!
as a little girl i learned to dance from my dad. i love to swing and the old-fashioned partner dances. i just so happened to fall in love with a wonderful man who DOESN’T dance. as super sweet move he went to dance lessons with me at Cal Poly. it was completely out of his comfort zone, so i was thrilled and swooned. then as he walked me back to my apartment on campus while i was looking the other way he pulled a pretty little flower of a plant for me. i heard, so his “surprise” was blown, but it still captured my heart. both the big and little gestures have made me love this man even more.
i bet everyone who has responded to this post has a goofy smile on their face. i know i do.
During our first year of marriage my husband surprised me with a weekend trip to the city where we met. He booked a romatic bed and breakfast, planned an awesome wine-tasting trip and made sure we hit all of our favorite old haunts. It was such a romantic weekend and I think about it often.
Thanks for letting me share and for the chance to win this awesome lovebird necklace. It’s awesome.
A little over a year ago I wanted a divorce. After lots of prayer and hard work our marriage is stronger than ever. We recently went to Vegas to celebrate our 14th wedding anniversary. The entire weekend was like a fairy tale, it was incredibly romantic. When we came home and were back in reality I got a phone call from my husband that said….turn on the cd in your car and he hung up. When I turned on the cd I discovered that he had made a cd of all of the memories of the weekend. He actually found songs that documented every bit of our weekend. It made my heart melt and I felt that I was twelve again. I’m so glad that we didn’t give up on our marriage. I love my man more than ever.
sorry it was so long…..guess I’m just in love π
On my last birthday, my husband had to be out of town on business. Before he left, he hid birthday gifts for each day of his absence all over the house. Each day he would text a clue and I would be led to a sweet gift. His “thinking ahead” was very romantic to me.
This necklace is gorgeous and actually reminds me NieNie!! One of my romantic moments was on our wedding day. Steve and I wrote our wedding vows and he got chocked up when I said my vows. So touching!
I just L-O-V-E this necklace.
I like little romantic getsures that mean the most and come from out of the blue….things like walking in the door and stopping and pausing from the crazy, busy day for a kiss from my hubby. It is so special and makes me realize how much I love him and how precious our life together is.
I am dorky…but a crazy romantic. xo xo
My most romantic memory is of one valentine’s day when my husband planned a whole evening with a hot bath, chocolates, and a pink ipod. I almost ruined it by working to late!
I divorced my ex-husband after 12 years of marriage, due to his many, many years of dishonesty. My heart had been broken.
A few years later, I met Darren. We fell in love….. REAL love and talked of a future together. When he fell to one knee with ring in hand he said to me……
“How could anyone throw you away? I love you. Will you marry me?”
I knew he was the one God sent to me to heal my heart and keep me happy forever!
My husband and I dated long distance before we were married and I cherished every single minute of our time together. On a Fall visit, I was packing to catch my flight and he stopped me and showed me his watch. It was “fall back” time and I had one more WHOLE HOUR to spend with him. I was so smitten with him that I thought he actually had the ability to change time! I still think of that wonderful moment every time we switch the clocks back in the Fall…
We hadn’t been married long, and Andy and I were both in grad school at Ohio State and were both working full-time; although we were looking forward to spring break, we couldn’t really take advantage of it like some of our classmates – we had jobs to attend to, and a new dog to care for, and not a lot of money to spend frivolously. However, Andy managed to arrange an overnight in downtown Columbus – a fancy dinner, a Broadway show, and a swanky hotel suite for one night. It was a much needed escape from reality, and a pleasant chance to reconnect.
my engagement to my husband was very romantic. he totally surprised me. we had a date that night, and everywhere we went, i received a rose. the last place we arrived, i received the twelfth rose and the proposal and ring! i said yes LOL!
My husband and I have been married for just over 10 years. I could tell you about the great way he proposed, or the tears in his eyes when I walked down the aisle, but instead the most romantic thing he’s ever done is get over his medical-phobia to be there, and be my Bradley coach, for the birth of both of ours sons.
One year at Christmas, my husband and daughters got me a pair of shoes for a Christmas gift (which I had wanted!) when I tried to put them on, I couldn’t get my foot into the shoe and when I pulled the tissue paper out of the toe, it contained a “Past, Present, Future” ring! π I NEVER expected it! π
The night Addison was born and rushed to the Children’s Hospital, and Shawn followed. He came back later that night in the middle of the night, just to be with me and show me pictures of her and tell me it will all be alright. He was right, it is alright, and he has become an even more amazing man as a result of being her Dad.
Beautiful necklace. Great job on the fundraiser!
I still remember the first time I saw my husband – literally across a crowded room – one glance and I just knew he was the one for me. Like a story from a romance novel. And I have never had any doubts that my first instinct was right on.
It was a very cold snowy Michigan evening and I had to work a late shift. When I arrived home there was my shawl wrapped around a hot water bottle on my favorite spot on the couch along with fresh popped popcorn with salt and butter just like I like it. Spoilt? Yeah I think maybe!
Mine is a little bit silly, but it was the first thing that popped into my head. My hubby and I had just been dating a month or so when my birthday came along. I really didn’t expect anything except to go out, and he showed up at my door with a gift and because he didn’t bake he’d brought me CinnaMonster cinnamon rolls. Those darn cinnamon rolls meant more to me than the actual gift because it meant he had really been listening to me. I’d told him once how much I loved those and only got them when I went to a certain outlet mall. He went out of his way to go and get them for me : ) Sappy, I know, but I loved it!!
When I was pregnant with my now 4 year old son, my husband wanted to give me something special to remember my pregnancy. He knew that their were many jewelry stores that had cameos or birthstone pieces, but he wanted me to have something unique. After my 18 week ultrasound, he took the ultrasound pic to my local custom jeweler and had them make me a custom necklace showing the exact position of my son in my uterus. He also had a ruby placed in the space for the heart. Ruby is both my son and my birthstone. The thought was so creative and romantic and more importantly I have a one of a kind piece. The jeweler made me take a picture just in case, so he could recreate if necessary.
Wow! There is a lot of romance going on out there!
For me that moment was when I first saw my husband. From across the room I saw him smile and just thought… I want to know that guy… Within months we were engaged and 13 years later I am still so grateful to have him in my life!
Thanks for the opportunity to think back on that moment and take time out to remember the early romance!
My husband and I were going through the toughest time of our lives…our little girl was in the hospital after a horrible accident and we were in survival mode.
Our anniversary fell on a day when she was still in the hospital. I did not feel like celebrating but my sweet husband searched, found and bought me a Willow Tree figurine of the ‘young couple in love’…he wrote in my card…no matter what, I love you and together we can make it through anything!
The tears would not stop…
My husband and I were friends for years (I had a crush on his best friend) In college we started hanging out alot exclusively. Then one night he wanted to show me this neat pond behind his parents’ house and we lay on a blanket and looked at stars all night and talked. That was when he told me he was falling for me…sigh. π
I’m luck that my husband gives me a foot rub every single night. To me that’s romance!!
My husband is so NOT romantic in the flowers, notes, gifts kind of way, but is in SO many other ways. I wouldn’t trade him for a flower giver ANY day!! We had been married about a month and I sold my car to a friend living in another state. We decided to drive the car to her and make a weekend of it. On the way there we had to drive 2 cars, of course. I was not looking forward to the long drive alone with no one to talk to. before we left he went on a quick errand and came home with a nifty little walkie talkie thing. We were able to talk the whole way there and at one point he even sang “our song” to me. It made the drive so much better and I loved him even more when we got there. We will celebrate 11 years of marriage on 12/27. He just went downstairs to do some laundry…the flame is still strong!!! π
My husband and I lived nearly 600 miles apart during our four year courtship and during that time he would send me eleven red roses, saying that the twelfth would, one day, be white and have a ring on it.
When the time came he first handed me a white rose, and then the ring. Since then I receive a dozen roses each year – eleven red and one white.
My marriage proposal was the most romantic,it was in a hot air balloon and I’m scared to death of heights but I knew something was up and had to get on that balloon. It was beautiful and something that I will treasure my whole life.
Every weekend my husband cooks for me, real gourmet thought out dinners with wine and dessert. I absolutely love it!
Love your new design and how nice of you to give a few away! Have a lovely day!
My romatic moment came today actually. My husband is VERY romantic but this was just too special. As I was waiting to be taken back for some medical test my sweet husband held me close, told me he would be praying for me and had tears in his eyes. Could you NOT love this guy??? What a loving man I have. I have truly been blessed.
My now-husband and I had a long distance relationship when I was in grad school. (He lived in Chicago and I was in Boston.) Once, when the distance thing just seemed to be too much, he surprised me by flying out for 18 fantastic hours. Suddenly, the distance seemed to be worth it. Now we’re married and have a fantastic littler girl.
Several years ago, my husband surprised me with a weekend trip to Las Vegas. He picked me up at work, had arranged with my principal to have a sub in my classroom, and had arranged a sitter for our kids. I was shocked, to the point of not wanting to go. But, once the shock wore off, I realized how romantic it was.
Our first date was a blind date and we’ve just celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary. Even after all this time my hubby is very romantic and I often get flowers. Just a couple of weeks ago I found a present of a new bottle of perfume (one I’d admired when we were out shopping) all wrapped up for me on my pillow when I went to get into bed – just because! I love this guy so much.
My husband is funny and a nature nut as I. To romance me he brings me “things”. He came in one day with with a bouquet…. of salamanders. There were about 6 of the little guys. He also brought me another present one day while we were dating… an injured crow to the nature center I worked for.
You should have seen my face when I saw this necklace.
My husband and I have been together since our first year in college(1990) and married for nine years(1999) this month. We have a three year old and a nine month old. His idea of romantic is escaping to a seven eleven in the middle of the night while the kids are asleep and bringing me back a my favorite ice cream treat. A big Toll House cookie ice cream sandwich……I love it!! Maybe he’ll surprise me with a Lisa Leonard design one day!
My husband proposed to me during our first Christmas together. He drove from Massachusetts to Maine to see me, and got into a fender bender along the way. He called me, desperate to see if I would go pick him up for the weekend, as the car needed to be towed. That night when we got back to my place, he went back out to the car to get his things, and he was taking a long time. Just as I was getting worried, there was a knock at my door, and I opened it to find him dressed in a full Santa Suit, carrying the gifts he had for me in a Santa sacks. The next morning we had our Christmas together, and one of the gifts he gave me was a book. Inside was a hand-written story about a made up proposal taking place during a hike on a beautiful mountain in his hometown. At the end of the story, it instructed me to turn around to give him a hug, and when I did, he was down on one knee. It was amazing, and absolutely perfect!!
During my pregnancy with our daughter I was SO sick the whole 9 months. I couldn’t even move from the bed. My husband was the pastor at the church next to our house. I would call him and all he would hear was the sound of me throwing up. That precious man would run home every time and empty my bucket and get me a cool washcloth while kissing my forehead. Not glamorous but totally romantic to me π
My husband left in the middle of a snowstorm 2 years ago on Valentine’s Day (even though the police declared a snow emergency and there was to be NO driving) and drove to a jewelry store. I was worried that he would die in an accident, but he returned home with a beautiful diamond necklace that he picked out all by himself. He was so cute because it was all a suprise and he was so excited to give it to me!
While dating in college, my husband would sneak into my dorm room while i was out and leave me secret notes in various places…in the pages of textbooks, on my computer, in desk drawers, dresser drawers, and any other sneaky place he could think of…sometimes it would be a few days before i would find one…totally random…yet super sweet!
The most romantic thing I can remember is the first kiss between me & my husband. He asked me if he could kiss me. I thought that was so “gentlemanly”. (It didn’t hurt that he turned out to be a great kisser. That was 22 years ago this November! We’ll have been married 20 years in June.
After a long (and very dreaded) dentist appointment yesterday, my husband met me at the door with a sweet little kiss, and promptly sent me to relax in bed for the evening. He’d put magazines on the nightstand, and had the covers turned down, hotel-style. He and our boys brought me dinner in bed, and we spent the evening snuggling and chatting. A nice, relaxing night with my three favorite guys taking care of me? That’s romance in my book!
I spent three weeks in India studying during grad school. Before I left for my trip, my husband handed me a stack of envelopes, one to be opened each day. Each morning I was there, I opened an envelope which contained a photo of he and I, special moments in our lives, and our kitties. On the back of each photo was a love note – written in Hindi (which he had researched since he doesn’t speak the language at all, nor do I). So each morning I had an image of home and love, and a reason to go out into the streets of India to make a connection with a person who could translate my love note.
The very night my husband and I met I asked him if he wanted to dance and he said yes… and he never stopped dancing with me for the REST of that night! That was so very sweet and romantic. It still makes me happy to think about, some 20 years later. π
I remembera dance I had with my now husband before he was my husband, we both liked eachother, and I was just finally deciding that I was okay with that. It was so sweet and wedidn’t talk but I knew he was feeling the same way through the whole song. Very sweet, and now I still think about those three minutes 6 years later.
I work full time and I am in nursing school. I love Fall and Halloween, but with so much studying…I didn’t have much time to decorate. My husband came home from the grocery store…walked over to the table with his hand behind his back. He then handed me a miniature pumpkin. He said he saw it and knew how much I loved them.
I thought it was sweet that something like that made him think of me. He is the BEST!!!
I was heartbroken my 82 year old Nana could not come from Ireland for our wedding so he took me there for our honeymoon just to share the thrill of the wedding with her. He wanted to scuba diving somewhere but instead he smiled as we spent that week just visiting with her – still means the world to me 10 years later.
My husband is the sweetest guy, not so “romantic”, but very thoughtful. He remembers important things, tries really hard to make things easier for me (around the house, with the kids). He helps out a lot! I especially love when he goes on business trips, I can almost count on a box of flowers being delivered. Of coarse I’m sad that he left, but glad to see he still remembers me and loves me:)
jen and i had never met. she had a cousin who randomly had a link to my online blog, and she began to read about me over the period of a about a year. she eventually and randomly posted a comment asking about a song that i had playing in the background. we ended up commenting back and forth on each others blogs for a short period. i found that for some reason i couldn’t stop wondering about and wanting to get to know this person more, and it turns out that she was feeling the same way. we eventually emailed, and later made the jump to phone calls, all the while reassured with the mutual god-given feeling that we had known each other our entire lives. eventually, i HAD to meet her in person, i knew that of all of the wonderful girls i had the chance to spend time with over time, that this one was different, she was made for me. i made the jump to buying a plane ticket to visit her halfway across the country. we set up a time to meet at the airport with several of her friends in support, and planned to hang out together over period of a long weekend. i got to the airport on the day of my flight, called her with excitement, she was ready to pick me up. i got to the counter and found there was a problem. a MAJOR problem. i had somehow reserved the flight for the wrong date, and the flight was full, i couldn’t fly to meet her. this couldn’t be?! i panicked and felt horrible. but, i HAD to meet her. i asked the attendant if i could switch my flight somehow, she nodded her head no, and then after a moment of looking at her computer she said that one passenger had just cancelled, and there was now literally ONE seat left on the day’s flight, but, she told me with a bit of a frown, it was first-class, and very last minute, 15 minutes until take-off and they were already boarding. VERY expensive. i checked my bank account, wince-ing, a poor college student, and completely emptied it for a single ticket; to meet her. she told me i had to run, so i ran to the already boarding plane with engine’s on. 3 hours later i arrived on the other end, walked down the long escalator to the first floor baggage claim where she was waiting, and met her with a smile and a huge hug. it was literally love at first site, we had been thought of together in god’s mind before we were born and we knew it, and we were finally together. it was absolutely amazing. we were married over a year later, and have been married for one and a half years. we currently live in austin texas with our dog macey, and literally continue to wake up every day realizing we have been blessed beyond measure to have each other and the amazing relationship and love that we have been given.
—i eventually told her about the problem with my original flight, and that i had basically spent nearly the same amount to meet her as i did on our engagement ring. …and to this day she is the ONLY person allowed to make reservations of any sort in our house ;)—
that is one of the romantic stories from our relationship that i thought i would share. i loved the stories here. thank you.
jen LOVES your work by the way. your site is saved on her blog. i imagine i’ll be buying her a christmas necklace soon. enjoy.
The most romantic moment with my guy was on our first date…we went to dinner, then for coffee and to walk along the river of our town. the riverwalk as they call it is just gorgeous and as we were standing on the covered bridge, he reached over and gave me the most gentle kiss that made my stomach jump and my toes felt like they left the ground. This was twelve years ago and he still makes me stomach jump…I have the best guy ever!
My moments are in the everyday. It’s the way I’ll catch him looking at me. It can be across the dinner table or in a room full of people. No words, just that private, just between us, quick look and small smile that tells me he loves me.
Just two weeks ago, we were on a little mini honeymoon for our tenth anniversary, and my husband Chris said, “The hotel didn’t get my email. I asked them to send 10 chocolate covered strawberries to our room to be waiting for us.” If you knew Chris, you’d understand why this is beyond romantic for him. (Doesn’t matter that the hotel missed it) Love the Charlotte’s Web story, too.
And the new pendant – OMG, Lisa!
Our romantic moments are sitting in our hot tub with a glass of wine soaking the stress away after the kids are in bed. Especially in the winter when there is snow on the ground.
My sweet husband of nearly 34 years is just not very romantic — but from time to time, he really surprises me. He knows how much I love roses, and has (over the years) remembered to bring me my favorite peach colored roses for our December 21 anniversary. What he did this summer was wonderful — planted a full flower bed full of (you guessed it!) beautiful peach colored roses. Here in Austin, we have roses even now and will probably till January so I think that was very romantic.
Every year I spend with my husband is more romantic than the last and it’s true, no matter how cheesy that sounds! We married young and have “grown up” together and started a family. We’ve learned respect and tolerance along the way. We are celebrating 16 blissed years of marriage on November 20th π
My husband proposed to me at a very fancy Italian restaurant that had gondola rides outside in the water. It was very romantic. He even got down on one knee!
I went to Disney World for the first time with my now husband’s family. They had just started the Walk Around the World where you could buy a “brick” along several pathways around the parks(s). My husband and I got to the park and he went over to a booth while I waited on a bench. A security guard then escorted us along a walkway and stopped at brick that said “Jeannine, Will you marry me? Love, David” The walkway was brand new and still restricted but he got special permission for us to go see it. I said YES! 11 years later we now have 4 bricks and go visit them every year.
When my husband proposed, he presented me with a book of memories from the months we had been dating. He had collected ticket stubs, programs, pictures, notes I had written him, menus from restaurants, etc., and placed them all in a beautiful leather bound book. The last page simply said, “I love you” which was phrase we promised not to say to each other until we were ready to get married.
The book was beautiful, but I was even more moved by the fact that he considered our relationship so important from day one that he had saved all of those tokens to use in this book. I felt, for the first time, the depth of his love for me.
And now, five and half years after our wedding and two months after the loss of our sweet little boy, it is the depth of his love and the hope I place in Lord that gets me through each day.
When my husband and I were dating we decided to go to the coast for the weekend. I left work early and met him at his apartment and we were going to leave from his place. I was standing in the middle of the living room looking around at what needed to be taken out to the car and he came up behind me, wrapped his arms around me and had the ring in his hand and proposed.
He had wanted to do it at the beach, but knew that the ring wasn’t going to fit without being re-sized and he wanted me to wear it that weekend so we packed the car, drove to the jeweler’s, had the ring sized. While we were waiting we called family and friends to tell them.
What was really sweet to me was that he had the ring in his pocket when he had stopped by my office earlier that morning and said it was all he could do not to propose right then and there.
Love this post!
most romantic? probably the night chad proposed to me. or at least he was trying sooo hard. it was the weekend after valentine’s day 2001. he missed V Day and i was soooo mad at him. he had everything perfect when i got home from work, shaking like a leaf. he got down on one knee and i took off running for the bedroom, not to celebrate, but to be mad at him. i was even more mad that he missed VDay and was now going to “make it better” by proposing — the nerve! ha! looking back, i should’ve enjoyed the moment more. he hasn’t tried anything romantic since then! ha!
One of my fave memories would be when my husband proposed to me. We were outside looking at the stars. He had just finished singing “our song” to me. Perfect!
One of my first dates with my husband involved a tent and rain. It was very romantic!
oh my–you’re asking me to choose one romantic moment with my husband from nearly 20 years of life together?! that’s challenging! but, i’d really like to win this necklace, so i’ll put on my thinking cap.
one of the most romantic things my husband ever did was take seriously a “nudge” we were both feeling toward overseas missionary service. he suggested we attend a weekend retreat so that we could get some more information and really seek to hear God’s voice about His desire for our future.
God closed that door that weekend, but He showed us that we were to be part of a local outreach and that experience changed our lives. that was very romantic to me because it demonstrated to me that my husband was seeking to lead our marriage in a godly way.
I would have to say my most romantic moment was the day my husband asked me to marry him 14 years ago! It was a cold, rainy day in Seattle, high atop the Space Needle in one of those cheesy photo booths…the camera was clicking away as he pulled out the ring, popped the question, got his answer and a kiss at the end! I’ll always have the strip of black and white photos from the booth to remind me what an amazing moment that was. Pretty romantic (and clever too).
you say we rock, but it is you that rocks! thank you for that!
romance…i like to find it in the small things…like the very second i fell in love with my husband (i was in very like for a month by then, but being a single mom, it was hard to let someone into out little world & our hearts)…i was feeling nervous and awkward on a date and he took my face in his hands and said…’hey, you are way too special to hurt, i’m not going to hurt you’…that was it, i melted…

My husband’s parents were my godparents. Our lives moved in and out for over 30 years. Then one day 14 years after the last time we had actually see each other we started corresponding long-distance. 17 weeks later we were married. In a few weeks it will be 7 years…or is that 37:)?
Congrats on your success. As for a romantic moment–my husband is NOT a romantic and I can’t remember any in particular that stand out. But, I felt it was romantic when he got his vasectomy!! LOL Sorry I don’t have any oohs and ahhs moments. Maybe I made you laugh–hope so.

Something that I consider the most romantic time is how my parents met and fell in love. My mom actually married her best friend’s older brother. It was always so cute to hear about how they use to catch each other’s eye, while she was visiting with my aunt.
Most romantic… birthing baby number two my husband literally help my hand non-stop for 12 hours. He never left my side. That was romantic… a close second was yesterday. While I struggled with stomach flu he stayed home and did his best to take care of two girls, doing dishes, and keeping house. We was overwhelmed and clueless, but I love that he tried so hard so that I wouldn’t have to worry about anything.
During a move one time I misplaced my wedding ring. I couldn’t find it for TWO YEARS and had given up. One morning while getting some socks out of his drawer my husband found it tucked inside a pair of his socks!!! He didn’t tell me right away though, he came home with a dozen roses with the ring tied to them. I thought I had won the lottery. It was very romantic!!!
Moments after our first child was born 4 years ago, my husband sat at my bedside and said, “let’s pray together.” We sat on the bed with my new son in one arm and holding hands with my husband and our hands together rested on our son. We prayed, thanking the Lord our Savior for allowing us to be the parents of this new child and what a blessing he was to us and will always be. We prayed for his guidance from that day forward. My doctor and one of the nurses were in the room at the time and they were talking until they saw us bow our heads and they were silent as we prayed together. That moment was the most romantic and intimate moment.
Picture this … I was back in town for a wedding and pining for my long-lost love from high school – I hadn’t seen him or his family in over two years; although, he had never left my heart (even though I was the one who left him). I stopped by the local country store for a soda and bumped into his mom. We talked at length and said our good-byes. I decided to call it a night and head home.
When I pulled up at the stop light in town, I could not believe my eyes. There – before me was my love in his white truck. When he drove past me, I truly felt faint – how is it possible that for so long I searched crowds to see his face and on that night, I heard of his life now from his mom and my eyes were filled of him. Believing that the Lord was guiding me and that this was a sign of a turning point in my life, I turned my car around.
Now, I may sound a little “off-my-rocker” per se, but I followed him … then, I beeped my horn … then, I flashed my lights! All to get him to pull over. Finally, after what seemed like forever, his truck finally pulled to the side of the road.
The door opened … and there he stood … Be still my fluttering heart. He approached, not knowing who was inside (a little risky for this day in age). I rolled down my window, he stumbled and exclaimed, “Oh my gosh.”
We agreed to meet along the river to talk and catch up on eachother’s lives. That evening, along the moon-lit water, sitting upon the rock that we used to cast our dreams out into the starry nights, we met again as friends with hearts aching for one another – missing what was lost and hoping to capture it again.
After hours of conversation, we said our goodbyes. My love took me in his arms and held me in an embrace that took my breath away … for I was home. And, in his arms is where I’ve stayed.
As the saying goes, “All Roads Lead Home” – Though I may have taken different paths at times, my destination was always to him. In one week, we will celebrate our 6th Wedding Anniversary.
My husband isn’t the typical romantic at all. He doesn’t do flowers, plan romantic getaways, buy me cards out of the blue or do candlelight, but he has the biggest heart of anyone I’ve ever met. I used to get my feelings hurt because of this, but then I realized that his romance is shown in different ways. He provides for me and my children, tells me he loves me every time we get off of the phone, never talks down to me, kisses me goodbye every morning (even when I’m asleep)and every night before we go to sleep, is the greatest father to our children, helps me out around the house, always encourages me to take “me time”… I could go on, but I wont’! :)Since the day I’ve met him he’s made me feel safe and secure and I love him more every day.
the latest big ‘romantic insight” hubby and I did was just this last August was our 20th anniversary I bought us new silver wedding bands and he surprised me with a silver anniversary ring. neither of us knew what the other was buying. we had gold rings for twenty years and I had decided to change to silver since that is what we both wanted when we got married but never found just the right rings so we settled for gold. He was just a surprised as I was when we exchanged gifts.
Ummm….err… that was supposed to read George Strait π
Definitely when I came home one day from work and found a note leading to another note leading to another note etc. which in the end led to a radio/cd player with a note to push play on the cd player and I Cross My Heart by Georgia Strait was playing. Melt my heart. Makes me fall in love all over again just thinking about it now.
My favorite romantic moment was when my husband proposed. He flew to CA from GA to surprise me, and boy was I shocked! He has always been so wonderful at surprising me, something he knows I absolutely love!
My most romantic moment is when my hubby asked me to marry him.He got down on one knee and I tried to help him up because I thought he had fallen down.We got engaged and we spent the weekend at his Aunts house out in the country. You had to be there to see how romantic it really was.
Congratulations! Your work is so beautiful.
The other night we had quesadillas for dinner, and my hubby cut up the leftover tortillas and fried them with cin & sugar. This is a favourite treat of mine, but I didn’t think he remembered. I was touched that he’s taken the time to know me so well, even in the silly little ways. :0)
When my husband and I first began dating we lived 2 hrs apart because we both went to different colleges. One snowy night I got a call from him. He asked if I had gotten a package from him. He told me to go outside the dorm to see if it was there. When I went downstairs he was standing there with a single rose. He was shivering so hard that the petals were falling off. It was such a sweet moment. π
Not sure if this is quite the romance you are looking for, but I suprised my husband at work after already asking his boss for the rest of the day off – and swept him off to Chicago for front row tickets at the Cure show. I always remember it as a fun adventure.
Love the necklace!
I went out of town a few years back for the first time alone. He was home with all 4 kids. While I was gone he kept a journal of what happened each day.. who lost a tooth and all the little things I missed. When I returned he picked me up at the airport with all four dressed up nice. When we got home they had made me a banner that said welcome home and had yellow balloons up our walkway. That was pretty special and romantic.
Although I have very little (conventional) artistic ability of my own, I enjoy that of others, especially sculpture. When a traveling exhibit of Rodin sculptures came to the High Museum of Art in Atlanta while my husband and I were first dating, 12 years ago, we had to go.
My favorite Rodin sculpture is “The Kiss”, which my then-boyfirend knew, because I wouldn’t stop talking about it. Well, there it was, HUGE and right in front of me. I couldn’t believe something I loved, but had only dreamed of seeing was so close. Emotion overwhelmed me, and tears started streaming down my face. As he wiped them away, my now-husband told me, for the first time, that he loved me. Suddenly, something I loved, but only dreamed of having, was standing with his arms around me.
My best date moment. Ever.
i’m pregnant with baby number two and have been so so tired. my wonderful husband has been going out of his way to help me – getting up with our two year old every morning while i lounge in bed, cooking dinner and giving into my food cravings for albondigas soup and driving to the mexican restaurant of choice for it even though it’s totally out of the way. it is definitely the little things that he does that are the most romantic π
Oh that necklace is so sweet! The way my husband proposed to me was so romantic. I would fill pages describing it all, but mainly it was the care and thought he put into the proposal.
My husband and I were celebrating our 10 year anniversary on a cruise, and I found a beautiful, expensive necklace in Key West. I didn’t even consider getting it. After we left the store, he called to check on our boys, but he actually called my sister with the info to order the necklace. He surprised me with it that next Christmas!
don’t enter me…but i love the lovebird necklace!!! its beautiful.
=)
Congratulations on raising so much money for a good cause. Some of the most romantic moments in my relationship with my husband came when he or I would drive hours to be with each other over the weekend while we were going to different colleges. We both braved a variety of crazy road and weather conditions to spend time together. We also had a special stall in the library at his college where we would meet with our books to study – it doesn’t sound too romantic now, but looking back on it makes me so nostalgic – we were serious about our studies and each other (and still are after 14 years of marriage).
My husband recreated our first date on the night he proposed…unfortunately he didnt do his homework and the little restaurant we went to closed early on weeknights…so he improvised. He was so sweet to try to recreate that night, however his improvisation turned into a sweet reminder of how romantic he is.
After the birth of our third son, I was a tired and overwhelmed woman. My husband asked me if there was anything he could do to help me out and relieve some of the day to day pressure I was feeling. I told him if he could just go to the grocery store for me that would be a huge help (the idea of dragging all three kids in the middle of winter was just more than I could bear). He did it happily and when he got home he told me that he’d do the grocery shopping for me every week. That was almost two years ago and he still does it! To me that was and continues to be very romantic.
My wedding day was the most romantic experience of my life.
I’m new to your blog and artwork and can’t wait to see more!
THe first time I met my husband I swear the world stood still. That night I told his sister (one of my closest friends) that I was going to marry him! 10 years later I fall more and more in love with him every day.
I think one of the most romantic moments I have with my husband is watching him cut the umbilical cord of our first son. I was so in love with him then, and still am, and seeing his hands shake and his huge smile made me even more in love with him. It was a few seconds that i will never forget, forever captured beautifully in my mind and heart!
Gorgeous necklaces! Before we were married, my husband (who was then just my friend) asked me if I wanted to go to an outdoor concert with him on the spur of the moment after work. I said sure, but when I got in his car I realized he’d ordered a complete box lunch from a fancy restaurant, complete with wine and a single Gerbera daisy in a bud vase. Our relationship quickly became not “just friends” after that! :0)
VERY, very cute necklace.
The most romantic moment of my life was on my 18th Birthday. My then boyfriend handed me his credit card and sent me on a shopping spree for a new outfit and a total make over like I’d been wanting. Then he said “be ready at 7”. He picked me up in a limo, blindfolded me and then drove to our destination. He took me to a very nice restaurant. He unblindfolded me once we were at the entrance. He had everything arranged. The entire meal was preplanned and made just for us. During dinner he disappeared for a bit. He then reappeared at the front of the restaurant at the piano and made an announcement that it was my birthday. He went on to say that he’d written a piano piece just for me and then proceeded to play it for the entire place. While he was playing the waiter brought me a handwritten score of the song. It was called, “My Beloved”. I cried BUCKETS.
That was six years ago, btw…
I’m so proud to even know you Lisa. You do amazing things, girl!
One thing that I think about a lot is when my then-fiancee wrote me a beautiful card about how terrible things were, and how scared he was about all this. But then, he went into detail about how we’re 20 and 23 now, just barely old enough for anything, but he also sees a 30 and 33 year old at their kids’ Christmas plays, looking at each other. He sees a 40 and 43 year old at high school graduations, and ushering the kids to college, and later, holding their first grandchild, knowing that despite the downs, he could always look right into my eyes and tell me how much he loved. ME. So, lots of rambling…:)
Nearing the end of my first pregnancy and totally overwhelmed with what was about to come, I have to admit that I was a bit crabby and took it all out on my husband one night. The very next day, a beautiful bouquet of flowers arrived for me at work with a card that read, “You are going to be a great mother. I love you.” Just minutes later, my water broke! He couldn’t have planned it better! π
My proposal, hands down. My husband took me to a church get together at a restaurant. What I didn’t know was that they had a bar area and a karaoke night that night. My husband had worked with the DJ and organized a fake contest, which we were chosen for. We went up on stage and my husband began singing Joe Cocker’s “You are so Beautiful” and I could tell he was nervous. He had stopped singing which I thought was due to his nerves. When I looked up, he was down on one knee in front of everyone asking me to be his wife. All of this 2 months after meeting through a personal ad I posted. That was 13 years and a lifetimes worth of ups and downs ago. I love him more today than ever.
My most romantic moment was definitely when my husband (boyfriend at the time) created a music tape (yes tape not CD!) with all of the songs that reminded him of me. I try not to play the tape too often with the fear that the tape will become brittle and break…but that tape has become the music of my life!
Congratulations on such a successful fundraiser! The lovebird necklace is darling by the way! Gosh it is hard to pick one moment to share, but I have to say when my husband proposed. He planned it out so well and it was very romantic. Just the two of us on a park bench overlooking the ocean on a cold October night. When we got back to our car, it was no longer there. But a black Porshe Boxter was sitting in it’s place with the top down and champagne glasses all ready to go. Then we got to valet park a Porche at dinner afterwards. So fun!
It would have to be the day that my husband proposed to me, a vegetarian, in a steakhouse. Beautiful platinum ring, presented to me over a salad. He was so nervous that he didn’t even realize that he had taken me to a place that I couldn’t eat at….love really messes with you!
Walking with my boyfriend (now my husband) on the beach in the middle of winter. The air was cold and the wind was blowing, but my heart was warm and filled with happiness as I walked hand in hand with the man I was falling in love with. Sixteen years later, I love him even more.
I am blessed to have a husband that can be very romantic. My favorite is when he plans weekend get-aways for us all on his own. He makes appointments for me at a spa, gets us a room with a soaking tub (and cable tv so he can watch hunting shows and not bother me while I sit and soak by candle light and soft music) he really does think of everything so that I enjoy the weekend. It is his payback/thank you for me not ever complaining when he goes on week long hunting trips and leaves me with the 4 kids. Wink!
I love that guy!
i’d have to say it was during the “winter of love”, february 2004 in san francisco…my partner and i were one of the last 10 couples to get into city hall that day to get a CA marriage license…once inside the building over 100 couples began singing the national anthem….looking into her eyes as they welled up in response to this magical moment, i knew we’d be together forever….that is my most romantic moment…together for 8 years, married for 4, and now 4 month old twin boys….it doesn’t get better than this!
my husband and i were thinking of starting a family and i wasn’t sure i was ready…he brought me home a handmade pottery set of a kids bowl, plate and cup with baby turtles on it and his note read…just want you to know i am ready when you are ready…i still have the set…love it!!!
When we were dating in college, my now-husband waited for me outside my class one day with a beautiful red rose. Everyone filing out before me was waiting to see who the lucky girl was – and it was me! Four years and two kids later, I’m still the lucky girl. π
Just one week after our first baby was born was our first year anniversary. I was super emotional and didn’t feel like we could leave our baby to go celebrate and it made me even more emotional that I wasn’t there 100% for my husband. So he let me go lie down for a while and take a nap and when I woke up he had borrowed a projector and hooked it up to our dvd player and moved the furniture around and ordered a pizza with sparkling cider! We sat down and watched the first movie we ever watched together. It was very romantic!
My first date (ever!) was with my husband. More than the first kiss, the first time we held hands was magic!! I felt more like a woman than ever in my life, with my hand safely held in his as we walked shoulder to his massive, so manly shoulder! ;o)
Recently my husband went to a museum opening in another state, where there was dancing and great music. Normally I would have gone, but we decided it’d be too hard on our 7 month old son to leave him by himself, so I stayed home. My husband sent me a text while he was at the opening, simply saying that he missed me and wished I were there dancing with him. Really the loveliest thing he could have said.
i think the most romantic moment of my life is about to happen tonight. It’s my birthday and a little birdie has shared with me that my very wonderful and so thoughtful boyfriend is going to ask me to marry him. i have never been so comfortable with one person as i am with him and i can only imagine that time will stand still in this moment for us. it has been a long road for us being separated by more than 3000 miles but now that we have worked out the next phase of getting into one location again and both finding happiness in careers as well as with each other, this is only the next magical step in what will be many.
Oh my gracious, that is an adorable necklace.
Recently I’d had one of those tough “kid days.” I don’t even remember exactly what was happening, but I had a newborn and my toddler was being…a toddler. Extra toddlerific that day. My husband brought home two dozen red roses. That’s not the type of thing he usually thinks of and it meant SO much!!
Being deep in the throes of raising tiny children, the most romantic thing my hubby does for me is take both the babies and play with them. Or give me a late-night back rub!
The most romantic moment in my memory was the day my husband and I had my very first ultrasound and saw our daughter on the screen. After realizing that we were really going to have a baby, my husband looked at me with the most tender look I can honestly say I have ever seen. He said nothing, but with tears in his eyes, the look on his face was 100% “we created another human being.” That day/look/memory will forever be etched on my heart.
Before my husband and I got married, I went on a long trip with my family. He gave me a bag filled with stuff to take on my trip like a card to open every day, book of crossword puzzles, magazines, snacks and a picture of us together. It was so sweet and it’s just one of the many reasons why I married him!
the day i said, “YES!” it was a fairy tale wedding and i married the man of my dreams. the fairy tale continues everyday in the small and simple things he does for me! i am the luckiest girl in the world!
I love reading all these romantic stories! And that necklace is so sweet!
Our 5th anniversary was my most romanatic memory. My husband had planned the entire thing – dinner, a show, a night away in the Inn where we got married. He had written these beautiful little notes on fancy origami paper and folded them up. He gave them to me over the course of the evening, and each one was a hint about the next surprise. He had put SOOO much time and energy into planning the night. It was wonderful!
My husband proposed on the beach, and we got married at the same spot. It was so romantic and magical I’ll never forget the feeling as long as I live. Beautiful necklaces and great job on the fundraiser!!!
WHat a wonderful fundraiser! Lately romance is when my husband voluntarily gets up with the 2 year old instead of pretending to be asleep. Then I know he truly loves me =)
I remember our first trip together (we drove to Calif so he could meet my parents) and we were on the way home and drove through Sedona. We stopped at the creek and sat on a tree and ate our lunch. A family down the creek was leaving and offered to take our picture. After they did and left, our time spent there was the most romantic of any previous activities.
We’ve been married 9 years this month!!
My most romantic moment wasn’t romantic at the time but it is very special to me now. My husband shook my hand at the end of our first date. No hug, no little kiss. At the time I thought it was kinda different, but definitely refreshing. He’d been divorced not too long before then and was trying to play it safe. Now I look back at that moment and it makes my heart swell to remember how different he was from every boy I had dated. It’s a simple reminder of the gentleman that he is and of all the reasons why I’m so glad I married him.
My husband’s proposal was very romantic. He had gotten members of our college’s male accapella group to sing and he proposed to me in a beautiful ballroom that he convinced the owners to let him use for free.
My hunny thinks flowers are stupid because they are already dead. So granted he is not very romantic…but doing the dishes each night is probably one of the most romantic things he can do for me. Also it is our favorite time of year…we were engaged, our dd’s adoption was finalized and we were informed about the potential adoption of our ds. (he was born in Feb 05 ). So I love the months of Oct and Nov.
My husband and I just celebrated our 10 year anniversary in August. We had our babysitter lined up and I thought we were just going to dinner at my favorite resturant and all was well. He sent flowers about mid day and boy were they beautiful, then before dinner he gave me an anniversary ring that is just gorgeous. When we got to the resturant, I was expecting to sit in the main siiting area, well he had called ahead and got us a private room with a table for 2 set up in it. Was I ever shocked!! He really outdid himself this time and was really one of the most romantic evenings we have had.
Mu husband and I started dating right before he moved back to TN. Before he left he wrote me a card and said that he knew we would make it and that I “made his soul peaceful”. I will never ever forget those words. They touched me so deeply. Now 6 yrs later here we both are in TN raising our little girl and we still very much in love.
my favorite romantic memory with my husband was his proposal. he lured me to his empty apartment where i found a message…he had written down a dream he’d had of me a few years back. he also left directions about where i could find him. i drove to a park we go to when we have big things to pray about. there are 3 crosses there on this beautiful hill. he had tied roses to trees throughout the park to lead me to him. when i found him, he dropped to one knee, asked me to marry him, and led me to the crosses so we could pray. absolutely beautiful memory!! my husband rocks! π
That is so awesome!!
For me, one of the most romantic moments ever was my first kiss with David, my husband. We were only 15 and 16 at the time and had started dating a month earlier. It was raining and we decided to run around in the rain a bit in his backyard. He had a tree swing and started to push me on it. Then on one swing, he held me back and gave me a sweet little kiss. It was his first kiss ever. With the rain, the swing and the tree, it was a magical moment!
What a beautiful necklace. Oh, and I’m loving the Joy necklace I bought several weeks ago. π
My husband is not big on romance, so even the smallest gesture is huge.
It was our 13th wedding anniversary and I had forgotten all about it. I had given birth to our second child only 6 days earlier and was still in my post-partum, haven’t showered, please-little-baby-sleep-for-more-than-15-minutes-so-I-can-change-my-clothes funk. My husband ran out to pick up a pizza for dinner and came back with a small bouquet of flowers. I burst into tears and blubbered for for a good 10 minutes.
My husband and I lived in the same province, but met in Mexico 12 years ago. It was fate and romantic at the same time. Thanks Lisa for the memories.
i thought it was very romantic when my husband took me to australia for our 25th anniversary! he’s not much for romance, so it was BIG!
Sherri
Wow! Great news, and how kind of you to celebrate with a giveaway! My most romantic moment was by far when my husband proposed. We were on Lopez Island and had set out on an exploratory bike ride. While stopped at a little private beach I watched the waves and my not-yet-fiance scurried around building a driftwood fort. As soon as it was finished we climbed inside and sat, talking about how perfect that place was and how all we needed was the book we had been reading together and perhaps a snack or too. Then he reached around from behind me and presented a little ring box and simply said “And some gold.” I was SO SURPRISED. I wasn’t expecting that at all. Such a wonderful moment and it still gives me chills. The rest, well that’s history.
Oh my – that necklace is adorable!
Romantic = my now DH and I, in the beginning, had a long distance relationship. One Valentine’s Day I flew from the east coast(where I lived) to the west coast(where he lived) for the weekend. We dressed up and he took me to the fanciest restaurant I had ever been in and to see Phantom of the Opera. It was amazing! It was grown up and romantic and a date I will always remember.
My parents have been married almost 48 years and my dad is a HUGE romantic along with being a very sensitive, caring, AWESOME, christian husband, father and grandfather. There have been many “romantic” happenings through the years I could have written about because he shows his love so often and in so many ways. True ROMANCE?? I can’t ever recall a time that he has ever said anything to tear or cut down my mom – ever! His love for her is deeper and wider than anything I think they ever thought it could possibly be. For 43 years, I have watched them love together, work together, hurt together and serve together and I have yet to see him say or do anything, I mean anything… even slightly disrespectful to my mom. I love that his example of “cherishing his wife” is practically flawless – what a great example. I know my mom would jump in here and tell you that she knows she is pretty lucky to have him at her side, and neither would trade a minute! 47+ years of romance?? Wow! P.S. I LOVE the necklace and congrats on on the fund raiser!
Congrats on the money raised! I know the family will be so grateful!
That necklace is just too cute– it’s funny because “lovebirds” are actually very near and dear to my heart. They actually relate to my “romantic moment” story.
A little background: Wayne loves to tell me about how turtledoves remind him of me because they are some of the only birds that mate for life.
I believe one of the most romantic things he he has done for me thus far happened while we were looking in an antique store one day. We both happened to notice these two beautiful blown-glass turtledoves sitting on a glass rose. I fell in love with it! It was just so beautiful and perfect for Wayne and I. I didn’t even need to tell him that. The second he saw it, he went to get the store owner to wrap it up for me. He told me that “beautiful women deserve beautiful things.” My heart just melted for him all over again.
I could go on and on about other romantic moments with him, but I’ll spare you… π
When I first kissed my husband it was magical because it felt like no one else existed. I couldn’t stop laughing because it felt surreal to me. It’s funny as I think about this, it all comes back and I can actually feel like I am in the moment again. 17 yrs. ago…wow!
Love the necklace! My husband is not what you would call romantic and I wouldn’t change him for a second. He tells me that he loves me many times a day, I get hugs and kisses all the time and he still shows up with flowers unannounced here and there. I don’t need favorite moments, everyday is a moment if you ask me.
One day, when my husband and I first started dating, it started pouring rain as we were walking inside from my car. He took off running, dragging me along by the hand, but I stopped, grabbed him, and we kissed the most romantic kiss, in the rain. Now, almost 8 years later, when I start to run away from the rain, my sweet husband stops me, and kisses me, in the rain. All those emotions rush back, and we get totally lost in the moment… and we get soaking wet. π
Our first kiss…on our wedding day! So great and something I will remember forever!
When I stood at the Marine Corps base in Miramar, CA and welcomed home my husband after he had been serving in the Middle East.
That was one embrace I shall never forget.
seriously, how do you come up with such cute designs?! i LOVE this one!!! all birdies now remind me of my little birdie, lola. π
crossing my fingers…;)
okay, ONE of the most romantic thing mike has done was the proposal: montana de oro beach…mike dressed up like a prince and riding a horse, with a horse following for me…a candle-lit dinner set to music on the beach, with a sand castle wall built all around the table (which he had built earlier in the day and left his friend there all day to guard it to make sure no one knocked it over!!).
With Nov being the month I got engaged and married in, there is lots of romance going around. My sweet hubby proposed to me in a most romantic way–a carriage ride through downtown on a mild, snowy night. Life has not been the same since!
My husband and I had been at a marriage retreat that was pretty awesome. When we got home and got back into the daily routines of life, he surprised me one afternoon about a week later by walking in the back door with two dozen roses of every color in the rainbow! You have to know my hubby to know this was definitely out of character for him. I don’t usually like to get flowers because I consider them a waste of money, but that day they melted my heart.
Renee
When my now husband proposed to me. He showed up at my house with coffee and breakfast and a single red rose. He then proceeded to tell me that He was mine for the whole day, I had thought he had to work that day. After eating breakfast and getting ready he took me out to Pismo where we just walked on the beach for a while and then sat to watch the waves and talk. While we were talking we were doodling in the sand and then he told me to look at what he had done. When I looked he had written “Marry me?” in the sand. He then pulled out the ring and I said yes!
I have already won one of your giveaway’s (tiny squares necklace) so I’m not entering, but want to say Thank you thank you for the fundraiser!! I have kept up on their story and am so thankful that there are people like you sent from God to help them!! Much love π
My romantic moment would have to be when my Hubby proposed. Just picture this…St. Peter’s Square in Rome, Italy…2 months prior to our engagement, Dustin sent me a letter that said on the envelope, “Carry this around with you wherever you go, but don’t open it until given permission.” So I did. And when we arrived in Rome, we took a trip to the Basilica where Dustin asked me if I still had the letter with me. I did, so he told me to open it and read it out loud. It was filled with so many feelings and how much he loved me and everything a woman wants to hear. Well the last sentence in the letter was “Now close your eyes and wait.” While I had my eyes closed, Dustin had gotten on his knee with a ring in his hand and then he told me to open my eyes and when I did, I saw the ring and then heard the question: “Sarah, will you be my wife?”
So yeah…I’d say that’s pretty romantic! I hope I win the necklace! π
Silly me! The most important thing that i wanted to mention is WOW!!! Thank you SO much for fund raising for Stephanie and Christian! What a HUGE success! That is SO wonderful! Puts a great big smile right on my face! WONDERFUL! Thank you!
A surprise picnic in the middle of the high school baseball field!
OH! my goodness. I certainly do not consider myself an expert on romance!! However i DO love love love this sweet little necklace! and would love a chance at winning it. Γ
Well, I have been a single mom for nearly 10 years. it has just been in this last year-actually not even a year-just since the summer, that i have felt like I am able to put myself “out there”. I was scared spitless for many many of those long 10 years, but mostly too–i dove into raising my two beautiful babies… and that doesn’t leave much time for anything else. Well, they are getting older now. (10 & 8) Γ and i have started dating.
The other night, we went to a movie. Something i haven’t done in a long while with a DATE!? Γ Well, as we were leaving the theater… all of a sudden i felt a big, strong warm hand take mine. It took my breath away.
that’s great! over $700 to the Nielsons!
romance: our first date was on Valentines Day (just happened that way). He wanted to take me to dinner at a very nice restaurant about 30 minutes out of town. When we arrived I found beautiful flowers on the table and later learned he had driven out there earlier in the day with those flowers, especially for me. how sweet! how romantic. and of course the first date was a success!
Cute necklace.
when my husband proposed, he had music, flowers and cannoli ready and waiting for me- but I stopped to talk to my mom, so the song he wanted to play kept ending (we were living upstairs) I was wondering why he kept running back up the steps when FINALLY I made it up the steps and WHAMMO, on his knees speech and all. crazy romanntic
Most romantic moment is every single morning my 88-year-old Daddy grabs my 86-year-old Mom and says, “Come here good lookin and give me a kiss”. He has done that for 67 years.
I think the most romantic thing for me is what Dan told me after my move to Oregon didn’t work out. (I was going to move up there and work at Multnomah full-time, but they cut the job to part-time, so I didn’t go after all.)It was after the fact that he said, when he knew I was leaving, that is when he knew how much he loved me and he just went to God and said, “If she is the one for me, we will work it out with Your help.”
When my husband and I first started dating, he took me on a drive through the canyons. It was freezing cold with 3 feet of snow in those mountains, but we pulled to the side of the road and he built a fire. We sat underneath our blankets, cuddled up by the fire and talked the night away; never once feeling the cold. The stars were never closer! It was such a romantic night π
My husband (then boyfriend) made me quilt for the first Christmas we were dating. He took lessons at a little quilt shop every other Saturday (since we were dating log distance and saw each other every two weeks). The ladies at the shop were thrilled with this 23 year old quilter. They’d say, “When your fiancee sees this..” and he’d correct them, “no we’re not engaged.” “Oh you will be.” Elevan years later we still sleep under that beautiful quilt.
Every time my husband calls home for no other reason than to say that he misses me and loves me.
Hugs fom Sol
The most romantic time of my life was when my husband proposed to me after 5 years of dating. He had gotten ballroom dance lessons set up for weeks in advance and since I was a dancer my entire life and my birthday was coming up, I just thought it was something nice he was doing. The day before my birthday we went to the Yard House resturant in Long beach and then he blind folded me as we drove to the beach. I had mentioned weeks in advance that for my birthday I would love to have a bon fire with family, so that is what I assumed it was. When he took the blind fold off there were 2 canopy/tent things set up back to back and 70+ candles hanging and sitting in the sand. We danced to our special song and then he proposed. He also made sure it was all video taped and he also had a friend photographer take still pictures. That was one day I will never forget :).
Whenever I’m out of town, my husband leaves little romantic notes in my suitcase – one for each day I’m away. If he’s out of town, he leaves the notes on my nightstand.
What an adorable necklace! Before my boyfriend leaves for work each morning, he kisses me goodbye and tells me he loves me. Sure, I’m half asleep, but I still love it π
my husband told me recently that he loved the way i looked at him. that nobody else looks at him the way i do. i melted….. secret is i look at him the way i do, b/c i’m constantly blown away at how lucky i am to have such a wonderful husband.
LOVE that necklace!! thanks for all that you do, and kudos for raising money for nie and her family.
Last month, I had oral surgery. My husband was amazing. The most loving and romantic thing he did was to gently wipe the milkshake off of chin – I had no feeling there and had no idea I was a mess. Sometimes, the most romantic moments are the ones I least expect.
I’d have to go with the first time my husband ever told me he loves me… We were both scared out of our minds as we both knew within 2 days of meeting each other that we would get married and I remember feeling his heart thumping so hard in his chest when he held me…
I would have to pick…when he “popped the question” 14 years ago…I’m just a romantic at heart!
Before we were married, I went through a personally challenging time. My mother had passed away and I was moving overseas. And I was miserable to be around, really I was bad. And one night instead of talking me through it or getting upset when I was being irrational, my husband just held me. I got little kisses on my head. I was so mad at him for not engaging with me, debating or arguing. But he just held on tight until I calmed down. It’s now 15 years and 3 kids later and he remains my strength in any storm.
If my husband ever had to leave town for work he would always leave me a ‘miss you’ note on my pillow. They always made me smile.
My husband is very romantic in general. He sends me flowers each month on the date of our anniversary. I love holding his hand whenever we go out. He kisses me each morning before he gets out of bed and calls me beautiful. I can’t wait till he gets home tonight from his business trip!
This year for Halloween I was nine months pregnant (and still hanging on…) so I wasn’t going to be able to take my 5 year-old trick-or-treating. My husband graciously stepped in, helped her get into her witch costume and took her around the neighborhood. When I kissed her goodbye and sent them on their way, I noticed the web decorations had been moved to in front of my office where a very romantic spider had spun a Charlotte’s Web-like creation that spelled out “SOME MOM”. I cried for an hour. This was the sweetest thing anyone had ever done for me, without even saying a word.
I would have to say the most romantic moment my husband and I shared was shortly after the birth of our first daughter. She was about 5 months old and had woken up in the middle of the night and was crying. I went into her room and picked her up and was rocking her and comforting her. It was a full moon that night and her room was well lit by the bright moon. My husband walked in and was staring at the two of us. I asked him what was wrong and he said “you look beautiful.” I will never forget that moment. My hair was a mess, I was still plump with the baby weight, breastfeeding bra on, (need I say more?)…..and he said I was beautiful.
My idea of romance has changed to “doing things around the house (cooking, dishes, putting kids to bed) that need to be done without being asked”. And he does!!!
When we got married we didn’t have enough money to buy me wedding band. So I just put my engagement ring back on during the ceremony. Well about two years later on my 26th birthday, my husband and I were reading books in bed and he says, “Can I see your ring? I think I should get it cleaned.” So I took it off and handed it to him without looking up. Then he said, “Well, how about I just give you this one instead.” And he put a box on top of my book that I was reading. In it, was my wedding band that he picked out all by himself! It’s gorgeous. Now the set is complete. He rarely can pull one over on me, so this was a total and sweet surprise.
My husband is not the most romantic in the world but before we were married we were going to school in Idaho. He planned a whole trip planned out in such a cute way to go visit his family during christmas, to me that was very sweet and romantic!
I met my husband during our summer jobs while in college. We worked swing shift at a paper mill. The paper machine was down and there was paper everywhere, so I was stuck cleaning up, hot, sweaty, sticky, dirty job. At 2am my husband to be left me a half a box of dots candy and cleared away all the rolls of paper, so I could take a little break. so romantic and quirky, all at the same time. We’ll celebrate our 13 anniversary on April 13.
At our wedding, we saw each other before the wedding….just each other. It was so special because we were able to look at each other and know that we chose each other for life–till death do us part. Six years and 2 beautiful boys later, I couldn’t imagine a better partner, father, or friend!
One of the most romantic times I remember was when my husband FINALLY kissed me for the first time! We had been dating for over a MONTH and we were in an open field on a starry cool night. It was just like a dream!
i love everyday romantic things. sometimes my husband will walk up behind me and give me an unexpected hug or sometimes he will clean the kitchen/wash the dishes without me even asking! that’s pretty romantic!
