let’s getaway.

we decided to spend the night in carpinteria (near santa barbara) just to get away and be together. it involved simple pleasures like snuggling in a king size bed *all four of us* while it poured with rain outside, bagels, throwing pennies in the fountain, a coloring book from barnes & noble, reading, tv watching and pizza for dinner. basically wonderful. what did you do to relax this weekend??

  1. This sounds like so much fun!

When I lived in England with Nate (before kids), we used to take little over night trips regularly. We would just hop in the car for a drive somewhere, not sure where we’d end up, and then find a little b&b and bunker down.

we really should do it ever now and then with the kids – it would be exciting!

  2. Ok, are you ready for this…..I got my latest edition of Los Angeles magazine and inside was an article containing the 20 Best Bakeries in L.A., well, me,my hubby and our little girl went crusin L.A. and we hit about ten of the bakeries, haha, got most of the goodies they mentioned that were the best at each place. Terrible for our waistline, but….TERRIBLY FUN !!!!!!

  3. Love Carp!
More exploring the rugged coast of Nova Scotia on this end of the world!
Super happy you had a great time in such a great place!

  4. sounds divine, rain and all

I cooked a Valentine’s Day dinner for my husband and daughter. This counts as a gift because I don’t cook very often at all! Earlier, I took my daughter and a friend to deliver Valentine cards to residents of a nursing home. In between was a birthday party and a trip to the grocery store to get ready for the big V-day dinner.

  5. Well, I’m not sure I would call it relaxing, especially for me, but my kids and husband LOVED it.

We played paintball today….very fun family activity…if you don’t mind getting shot with balls full of paint…let me just tell you…they sting!

But we had a good time, and that’s all that really matters.. =)

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  6. I just want to say how much I love the way your family does so much together and the simple things that will all make memories for you all. And I love the pictures, too.

  7. Opening Valentine’s gifts and cards…going to the chilly park…Mexican food restaurant as a family.

What a great day with my three Valentines…my husband and two kids.

  8. oh, man, don’t I WISH!!! We spent 8 hours of yesterday driving—to LA and back for Peter’s post-op appointment. Our “get away” will have to wait until he can fly again then it will be off to Petaluma (hehe) to see our precious granddaughter and her family 🙂

  9. When I read your blog and Chrissie’s blog, I always think of how wonderfully your parents raised all of their girls. Your priorities of God and family send us clear messages of how we are to treasure our blessings and live life abundantly! Thanks for all of the great ideas and example-setting! 🙂

  10. What lovely photographs, glad you had a nice time. So far mine has been spent giving a close friend marital advice as they are at an impass, baking for charities and taking long walks! I’m hoping hot chocolate makes its way in their tonight :0)
