I love when birds stop by my yard. Woodpeckers always make me smile…but robins…even though they are messy are nice too. Love to listen to them all staking out their territories.
I love birds, too, especially a bunch lined up on a wire! My mom has the best group of hummingbirds visiting her yard, and I posted a fab pic of one who happened upon a praying mantis the other day!! @ http://polkadotnotebook.blogspot.com/2011/10/nature.html
have you seen “The Big Year” it’s so cute all about birdwatching!
I’m with you. Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve been watching birds—in trees, on the ground, on wires—anywhere! My favorite—bluebirds… or maybe robins…or hummingbirds…I love them all!
I’ve been noticing tons of birds lately too! It’s getting cold here on the east ooast, so lots of birds seem to be flying by on their way south. Your bird picks are beautiful. We’ve had robins nest on our porch for the last 2 springs, so I’ve come to love them.
Hi Lisa, I notice birds everywhere I go too. I just quite simply, adore them! We are really lucky to have so many different types of birds in our garden here in New Zealand. I don’t think I can name my absolute favourite as there are too many. What type of bird is it in your second photograph?? Very, very beautiful, love the colours on it! smiles..
I appreciate all the responses. I love hummingbirds, owls, hawks, and peacocks, too! I think my most favorite bird is the male Cardinal – it’s our state bird and I love to see the bright red feathers – especially when it’s set against a snowy back drop.
We had a sweet little finch couple make their nest on our front door wreath last spring. Kinda hard getting in and out of the house but fun to watch. We live in the Klamath Basin in Oregon and this time of year the bald eagle is everywhere. You don’t realize how large they are until you see them in person. Amazing. 🙂 Love your pictures.
So many beautiful birds in this world, but my favorite is the black capped chickadee. We had so many of them hanging out near my house growing up, and I’ve had quite a few eat seeds out of my hand on nature walks. Plus, my favorite combo is black and white! Love taking shots of birds too 🙂
I am fascinated with birds too! Not in a weird way, of course, (ha!)but they are truly unique & beautiful. My favorite bird is the cardinal ( or “red bird” as we say in the South! )
Your photos are stunning, Lisa! My favorite bird? Probably the woodpecker. I love their darling red caps! Also, California quails with their little top knots.
We live near a migratory bird refuge so we get to see all sorts of wonderful birds flying through. I think we like the orange tanangers the best.
And the hummingbirds are a blast! We have a feeder outside our big dining room window and the birds are fun to watch all summer long. Sometimes they hover in front of the window, watching us instead! So much fun!
Do you know what kind of blue and white bird that is??? I live in North Carolina and have never seen anything like it out here. It’s beautiful. My favorite will probably always be the cardinal. We have an abundance of them!
you are so lucky maam to capture that lovely bird…

I notice birds everywhere too. I really like spotting a yellow finch. The yellow is so bright and pure/happy.
Hummingbirds, for sure! But cardinals and gold finches are close for second place.
pretty new website! loving it!

Praying Mantis eat hummingbirds.

Lately, I am loving owls and peacocks. They’re both beautiful and there is something magical/mystical about them.
Hummingbirds were my grandma’s favorite. I’m actually terrified of birds, although I have a dove carrying an olive branch tattooed on my back:)

I love the hawks that we get in rural Ontario here.
What wonderful birds Lisa — so lucky to capture them in such beautiful photos!
I think I like blue jays the best….just because they always are a beautiful stunning surprise as you see them dash in and out of trees.
Enjoy this fall day!
