one great thing about living in san luis obispo, is that it’s a vacation spot for many of our friends. so we end up getting to hang out with some pretty awesome people we don’t get to see nearly as much as we’d like. take the millers for example!
they were staying in avila beach {about 15 minutes south} so we went down to their hotel for the evening.
the kids had a blast playing in the rec room, swimming and eating BBQ and i loved getting to hang out with my friends. the whole evening was refreshing.
it was like a mini-vacation. we love you, millers! please come back soon.
i love to spend the afternoon at the beach or plan an overnighter to nearby cambria or carpinteria.
what is your favorite {close-by} getaway spot?
My girlfriends and I just celebrated our last all single girls’ vacation at The Cliffs resort on Pismo Beach…we were in SLO all week, shopping and eating and I wish I had paid more attention to your blog to realize that’s where you lived!!! For three girls from West Texas, the California coast was magical!
Cannon Beach, OR!
Friends and family come here for the beach (just a few blocks away)….and Disney World… a little over an hour west and north…whenever someone comes to visit…I’m ready to go. Like Lisa above…it’s great to be able to go anytime we want.
We live in SW FL a mile from the beach…so we also get to visit with lots of friends who come to this area from far away for vacation… very nice 🙂 Our favorite quick get-a-way is Orlando… so many fun things to do there and we feel blessed to live 2 hours away… so many people travel far and spend lots on plane tickets to come once in a lifetime but we can zip over so easily!
I just found your site via LMM. Looks like a fantastic vacation spot ..someday!
For the afternoon– Pismo or Avila.
For the weekend– the OC– great place to party! 😉
We live about a mile from Clifty Fall State Park. Sometimes I take the “long” way home and drive through the park. The boys and I look for wild turkey and listen to the waterfalls.
We love Seabrook, WA, wish is only a little over an hour’s drive from our home. We especially love it with friends!
Hey Lisa!
I have a blog (it’s a tumblr account) and was wondering how you format your pics on your blog. How do you get all the different sizes on your page to display the way that they do? Mine only allows the pics to post one at a time, but I’m wanting a little variety. Any tips?
-Melissa
I’ve been wondering this, too, Lisa!
My husband and I love Palm Springs, a little over an hour away from us. It gets crazy-freaking hot in mid-summer, but that is actually our favorite time to visit!
We love San Luis Obispo(where you are!), Carmel and San Diego. I live 2 hours from you, 5 hours to Carmel and 3 hours to San Diego. Can’t go wrong with any of these places! 🙂
big sur….no matter how many times i go up there it’s still unbelievably beautiful…such a treasure in our own backyard.
My families fav getaway spot that is close is @ a campground just across the border in Minnesota. It is right on the river and always beautiful! A short 30min drive away that feels like a million miles away.
Enjoy your close getaway spot! 🙂
Beautiful pictures! I may have to visit! My favorite getaway spot that is close by is Bend, OR. Absolutely beautiful, right next to the mountains with lots of fun, outdoor activities!
i love that place! i just stayed there 2 weeks ago. 🙂
cayucos!! and we’re headed there on saturday! 🙂
I LOVE both Palm Desert and San Diego for a close getaway….
I recognized Kirsten’s kids without even reading the name. How fun!
Deer Valley for sure!! It’s like you’re in a different world! Ahh, I love the mountains in Utah!
Laguna Beach is so awesome! We go as often as possible, the Sawdust Festival is the best.
Love these pictures… and you guys, too!!!! Loved being with you all and hope it works out for next week, too!
So, when are you guys gonna make your way up here? =)
My favorite getaway spot is my backyard with some homemade lemonade and sunshine!
cambria, hands down!
