A couple weeks ago my sister and I met up for an overnighter in Santa Barbara. If I had my way, we’d do this at least once a month, but kids, work and other responsibilities make that really difficult. So we do it as often as we can. And every time we get away it’s like food for my soul. We laugh, we talk–about little things and big things. We soak each other up and enjoy every minute.I always leave refreshed and inspired. I think it’s time to get our next getaway on the calendar! What’s something relaxing you’ve done to refresh your soul lately?
So I’m reading posts about Santa Barbara every now and then.. what’s your connection to the place?
It’s half way between my sister and I and a super fun place to visit. We love to meet up and get some quality time together. xo
I’m a Santa Barbara native (currently relocated to Buellton) I love seeing your pics of my hometown 🙂
And of course I love your sister time post, my sister and I are super close too. Makes me feel inspired to plan a getaway for the two of us!
relaxed at home today, didn’t even get dressed!
I need one of these. My sister is getting married and moving away. So sad. (the moving away part, not the getting married part!)
Ahhhh you girls are beautiful! What a fun weekend! Walks along the beach, worship, and naps have been refreshing me lately 🙂
Love the pic. of the 2 of you. We all need getaways once in a while like that to renew us. At the beginning of March I’m getting away for a night with one of my friends who feels like a sister (I have 2 brothers). We are soooo looking forward to our weekend away. 🙂 Glad you had fun!
I love that you and your sis are so close both in spirit and distance so you can have girl time whenever!
had my own sister weekend with my dearest chums from college. we spent a weekend away (in one of my besties in-laws 1911 mansion). we walked and talked and crafted and talked and laughed and cried and prayed and talked and ate and looked at photos and slept in and read and talked and laughed and man…my soul was refreshed!
God is so very good to have given me these two beautiful women to love as my dear friends!
AND a wonderful husband who sees my heart needs and loving cares for our three little misses and can’t wait for me to come home so he can smooch me…
blessed and refreshed indeed!
Oh, my goodness! Such beautiful images!
My plans for soothing my soul lately get thwarted every time by one of our kids getting sick. Last weekend, it was my Clementine’s nasty cold that morphed my getaway to Seattle with my husband into a family trip to Seattle. This afternoon’s plan of thrifting downtown got cancelled because my Annabelle was in the nurse’s office at school with a tummy ache and needing to be picked up. Sigh. I do have my birthday {St. Patty’s} set aside to meet my cousin (sister of my heart!) at a spa for the day before celebrating with my family. I’m so looking forward to that, I could cry!!
Love that you are so tight with your sis. Two curly girlies!
Hi Lisa, you are so lucky to have such a beautiful relationship with your sister. My sister is 4.5 years older than me and she lives in the middle of the North Island while I’m in the top of the South Island of New Zealand. We don’t get together often and usually she is too tired to talk to me on the phone so I can honestly say we don’t have a ”real” sisterly relationship which is so so sad. I’d love to have a ‘real’ sister to share my happiness and sadness with and vice versa!
I so need to relax and soothe my soul but I can’t see that happening anytime soon. I think I am my most relaxed and ”zoned out” when I’m sowing seeds or potting on seedlings so I definitely need to do more of that! Maybe next week I can make the time. Big smiles…
I always have fun when my sisters are around….my brothers are fun too…but there’s something about sisters….
My hubby gave me an afternoon out (we have two kids: 2yrs and 4 months) and I got my hair chopped off and all new make up and skin care!
I still feel so refreshed and it was a week ago!
Love.
I have a girls weekend (four days) coming up at the end of March in OBX and I can’t wait! This is our 5th year we have been doing it and I love it. Just like you said it is food for my soul….we talk for hours, we laugh, we cry, we inspire, we drink, and most of all we eat yummy healthy food! It refuels me for the year!
So glad you got time away with your sister!
This makes me wish I had a sister. So lovely!
