hahahaha. I saw the title and was all SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE!! I LOVE MEG RYAN and how she sings that line.
favorite christmas songs: Steven Curtis Chapman singing “Away in a Manger” + Manheim Steamroller’s classic instrumental song + the duet sung by Will Ferrell and Zooey Deschanel in “Elf”.
I don’t even know where to begin! I have SO many … but I’m loving ones by Amy Grant, MWS, Steven Curtis Chapman … and lately, the Mercy Me and Casting Crowns versions of ‘I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day’ …. LOVE them!!
BNL’s whole holiday album. Elf’s Lament is great.
Being Irish, any Celtic Christmas music makes me happy. The Chieftains albums wonderful and I love all versions of ” Three Ships.”
Mere Christmas! The ornaments I ordered for our son’s First Christmas are beautiful. Thank you so much for being so creative!
“One Day at Christmas” by Stevie Wonder. It inspires me every year at this time.
Sleepless in Seattle is one of my favorites and my mom and I randomly sing Horses, Horses, Horses (or harses, harses, harses) and it cracks us up every time!
so funny to hear you mention the ” horses, horses, horses” I was just telling the girls I work with how that is one of my favorite parts of that movie… Just makes me giggle!!! Also, love I’ll be home for christmas… always followed by a thought of my oldest son inthe Marine corp… Love your site!!!
those are only your favorites because you haven’t heard “toy packaging” by sara groves. ok, so it has nothing to do with the REAL meaning of christmas (I have plenty of favorites that do), but as a parent you would get a complete kick out of it. please, do yourself a favor and check it out!
blessings,
shana
(i could totally hear meg ryan singing “horses horses horses” when i read your post!)
Best movie ever!!
I am so with you on the horses horses horses. It makes me smile.

I absolutely love Ingrid Michaelson – I was fortunate to meet her this summer and she’s absolutely hysterical. Just went and bought Wintersong on ITunes – thanks for sharing!
I like your taste in music. A few of your songs were on a Christmas mix from last year. This year I have collaborated with my siblings. Each of us had to pick 4 songs to add to the mix. Here is our Christmas line-up (we all have pretty different taste but it works well together). Maybe there might be a few songs you’d enjoy:
All I want for Christmas- Mariah
Come thou Fount- Sufjan Stevens
How Great thou Art- Page CXVI (this group is a real treat.)
O Holy Night- Glee version
Halleluiah (Light has Come)- Barlow Girl
O come all ye Faithful- Starfield
Song for a winter’s night- Sarah McLachlin
Baby it’s cold outside- Glee version
Silent Night- Over the Rhine
Christmas song- Dave Matthews
O come o come Emmanuel- Sufjan
Glory to God in the Highest- Downhere
It came upon a midnight clear- Sixpense None the richer
The prayer- Celine Dion/Andre Bocelli
God rest ye Merry Gentlemen- Barenaked ladies
Auld Lang Syne- Pink Martini
That’s hilarious – I started singing the song to myself after reading the title and before I read your explanation! I think I’m going to have to pull that movie out now! White Christmas will forever be my favorite!
Love that scene!
Ah, Southern Gal beat me to it–the Davie Bowie/Bing Crosby duet! Thanks for posting the link!
Sleigh Ride is my favorite. I think it’s Debbie Gibson verision I like best. So upbeat and fun.
“I want a hippopotamus for Christmas”
“Mary did you know”
Lisa- I love your blog, and jewelry! OOOH and your hair!!! I have naturally curly hair and hate it… so what products do you use???
Also… my husband and I became foster parents two months ago and we currently have three children (yep…went form 0 to 3 practically overnight) ages 4,5, and 7… We are in the process of adopting the 5 and 7 year old. The 4 year old is not adoptable at this point. But… I will be ordering a necklace after Christmas!! Just have to decide!!
Thanks for sharing your life!
I had forgotten about “horses, horses, horses”!
My favorites? Any Johnny Matthis Christmas song!
It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year – Andy Williams
Come, Thou Long Expected Jesus – Chris Tomlin
Marshmallow World – Martin and Sinatra
Little Drummer Boy – David Bowie and Bing Crosby (I remember seeing this one when it aired on TV in the 70’s. It captured me then and I’ve always loved it. So glad I could find it on YouTube and watch it again.

We Three Kings (BNL)
Baby It’s Cold Outside (Chris Colfer and Darren Criss)
Veni, Veni Emmanuel (Casting Crowns)
Let Love Be Love (Juice, S-O-A-P and Remee)
Ha! I thought “horses horses horses” was only a weird in-joke between me and my sister!
I love the song, “The Merriest,” by Peggy Lee…and anything by Johnny Mathis (whom we saw LIVE this weekend!).
i still need to see that movie.
i really like O come all ye faithful and lots of bing crosby!
I so remember that scene in Sleepless in Seattle! This may just be the longest blog comment in the history of blog comments. I’m currently writing a post about my fave Christmas music. The classics–anything Ella Fitzgerald, Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole or Johnny Mathis. There’s a Christmas CD called Cool Yule that’s awesome. Jason Mraz–Winter Wonderland, House of Heroes–Silent Night, you already mentioned the Bare Naked Ladies and Mariah Carey, John Legend and my new favorite Sufjan Stevens. I can’t leave off A Charlie Brown Christmas, Vince Guaraldi Trio.
I sing that same line, too!
Also, that BNL version is FAB! One of my favs 😉

this is the video of dean and frank singing – watch it a few times! it will make you laugh! and it’s frank to says dean has a “punkin’ head”!
i too sing – HARSES HARSES HARSES!!!
i love just about all christmas carols unless they are sung by dogs!! :^) a really cute song is part of a medley from dean martin’s tv show – it has dean, sammy davis jr and frank sinatra – they do two serious songs then end with It’s a Marshmallow World!! i’ve seen the video and to see and hear Dean cal his dear friend Frank a “punkin head” is just too funny and cute.
I often start humming and/or singing that line from Sleepless in Seattle to myself when I hear the word horses…I was hoping you would reference that when I saw the title of this post. 🙂
My senior year of college, a group of friends drove together to Colorado from SoCal for a wedding. One of our friends made up a “game.” Every time it dropped below 25 degrees (as we were traveling through Utah in late December) we would have to play “Baby It’s Cold Outside.” I’m pretty sure it was the Bing Crosby/Doris Day rendition. Once we reached the point where it stayed below 25 degrees, we had to play the song once an hour. It was a fun, but looong trip…
O Come, O Come Emmanuel
O Come Let Us Adore Him
O Holy Night
Come, Thou Long Expected Jesus
Hi Lisa honey, sorry I haven’t commented for a few days – still have internet probs here. ugh..
My favourite christmas carols always are:
Hark the Herald Angels Sing
O Come all ye Faithful
Little Town of Bethlehem
Good King Wenceslas hmm and a few more! I used to sing in a church choir when I was young and still smile when I think of going cross-eyed (almost!) when singing descants. Hugs for Christmas!
