since it’s wedding week, i figured i’d do a wedding edition for what i wore wednesday. i’m not getting married any time soon {haha!}, so these are a couple outfits i would wear to attend a wedding. wedding’s are a celebration and i love to dress up! be sure to jump over to lindsey’s blog for more inspiration!
this first outfit is kind of my go-to fancy dress. i got it on sale at anthro for $35 and it’s super comfortable. i paired it with anthro boots, belt that i’ve had forever and a cardi that steve brought me from scotland. the flower pin was a gift from debbie and shea {a gilded life}this dress was an exciting find from ruby rose–only $18 and so sweet! it’s vintage, probably from the 50’s? I paired it with the same belt and boots and a target cardi. the colors in the dress were hard to match, but it’s okay to blend colors that are fun–everything doesn’t have to be matchy matchy.
i think every girl should have a dress that makes her feel pretty.
do you have a go-to dress-up outfit? tell us about it!
Here in Australia “fancy dress” means costume. I remember inviting an American friend who was living here for a couple of years along to a fancy dress party and she turned up in her best dress when everyone else had come as superheroes, fairytale characters and clowns! And we supposedly speak the same language!
I love going to weddings, such a celebration. You look lovely.
LOVE THOSE DRESSES!
YOU LOOK FABULOUS!
I ONLY WISH I COULD FIT IN SOMETHING SO CUTE AS THOSE.
THANKS FOR ALWAYS INSPIRING (:
that 1st dress? so girly. love it!
I need to get some dresses for several weddings I have coming up (like 8) so I am inspired. Four of the weddings will have all the same attendees so I have to get at least 4 different dresses!
Um.. right now I don’t have a go to dress but I’d love your anthro one! That is a beautiful dress!! You always look so nice!
love the dress with cardi and boots! also love your curly hair!

I love the first dress! Very pretty!
Your floral dress is sooooo pretty! I love it when you find pretty outfits unexpectedly π
I like the flower dress a lot …but I guess that whatever you wear it looks good π
haha! thank you, but no, not everything looks good on me! i really try to dress for my shape and compexion.
Oh boy, I LOVELOVELOVE your outfits, especially pink rose dress!! I desperately need something for an August wedding and bridal shower for my niece, but because of being a size 18 can’t find anything cute and stuff looks soooo terribly matronly. Guess I better get on my treadmill!!
I LOVE that ruffled dress in your first photo. And only $35? A steal!
Being a stay at home momma I dont “dress up” a ton but we do put on our Sunday best for church each week so I get my fill of skirts and dresses. My favorite go-to outfit is a wrap dress that I found at the thrift store(a Target brand dress) and my Brown Kady boots(Target, last year). with a long cream cardigan over the dress. Its one outfit that I feel really comfortable in.
XO,
Sarah
You are SO cute!
I want both of those outfits! I’m way more comfortable in dresses and flowy skirts than anything.
<3 you
I just love your style, I always enjoy seeing these posts! I’m hoping to hit the Anthro clearance rack sometime after discovering we have one in Nashville. π
I love to dress up! I never wear jeans….I don’t know why because there are really cute jeans out there! Dressing up makes me feel good. Sometimes when I don’t feel good about myself…having a bad hair day or whatever, I always try and dress up. I have a little girl that Loves to wear dresses! Lisa…..I love your blog! You inspire me! I love how you take a ton of pictures, I love how you have such a network of friends! Thanks, Lisa! You always make my day!
Adorable! Both outfits!! I agree with the not matchy matchy & Target is a great go-to for the cute inexpensive cardi….
here’s my “what i wore wednesday” question: who snaps your cute pictures? (or maybe you’ve covered that already….)
Have a great week & week-end…..
What I’m wearing so far this Wed…..Nick & Nora snow globe pj’s…
Chris Ann
Hi Chris-Ann! I use a tripod and set my camera on it. And yes, my family mocks me when I do it π
I think the green cardi goes great with the soft pinky/peach colors! I actually really like not-so-coordinating outfits, it’s more creative! When I was younger I was so obsessed with matching– to the point where it was a little overkill. Now I’m even pairing black with brown [gasp!]
I have a few Anthro & Shabby Apple dresses that I’ve gotten through the years, those are my dress ups. My 4 or 6 go to dresses have served every purpose- beach wedding, beach weddign rehearsal, small church wedding, rehearsal, company dinner party, bat mizvah…you name it!
I really dislike dressing up! If I have to it’s usually a simple cotton sun dress. This time of year in WI though, it’s usually black dress pants and a pretty sweater! I prefer simple looks.
Happy Wednesday!
