Last week I came across this 80’s leather jacket at one of my favorite thrift stores. I love the color and the style clean lines–but I wanted to make sure the fit was right. Also it has shoulder pads–and I wasn’t sure about that. I tried it on three different times. It was only $20–so I wasn’t worried about the price, I’m just trying to only buy things I truly love. I don’t want to clutter my closet with things I don’t want to wear all the time.
So, I got the jacket. I wore it and I think I love it. Still debating about the shoulder pads–I could remove them, right?
Outfit details: Leather jacket, Thrifted. Jeans, Target. Tank, Old Navy. Sandals, Miz Mooz. Dainty birthstone bracelet, My shop. Stacked rings, My shop.
I say we bring back the 80’s. Who’s with me?
Love the color and it fits you great. If you don’t like the shoulder pads take them out. I probably would.
Love that jacket!!! I Can’t even tell it has shoulder pads but if it bothers you then remove them. What a great find! Do you ever wear your hair down anymore? I miss seeing all those beautiful curls! I have curly hair like you and when it’s time for a hair cut it goes back into a bun daily.
On you it looks good! I vote leave them in.
Looks fantastic on you! Couldn’t even tell there are shoulder pads.
I think it looks beautiful on you just like it is. Sometimes if you remove/change shoulder pads, you get funny looking sagginess at the top of the sleeve.
Love the jacket. The shoulder pads just give it a little structure I think. Wouldn’t change a thing.
I think this is one of your best outfits ever! Love it! 🙂
Hmmmm…I like it but maybe a tailor could put smaller shoulder pads? I think maybe then it would look a bit more current. But if you’re going for that “retro” look, I’d say the jacket looks great as is. (But this is just my opinion; if you love it and you’re comfortable/confident, then that will show!)I think it’s great that we live in a time that we let our personality show! Have fun!
i agree; the jacket’s pads aren’t too big and they give the entire jacket nice shape and your shoulders definition.
i too have lived through the fashions of the 80s and i’m pretty sure i’d have to vote that we NOT bring them back. this looks great on you, though!
love the jacket color…re: the shoulder pads, I think they are fine in a jacket or coat and they aren’t huge ones. some say they flatter the waist. I remember the 80s when even dresses and t-shirts came with shoulder pads lol.
