Yesterday I found this ‘high chair’ at my favorite thrift store. It’s perfect for David because it’s raised without looking too babyish. It was painted pale lavendar with wood exposed at the top. So I grabbed a can of aqua spray paint and gave it a fun, new coat of paint.
He’s been using a restaurant type of high chair but it’s starting to get too small. His legs are so long!
I tried to take pics of our dining area without showing the mess everywhere. We’ve got piles of mail to sort through, legos to put away and general decluttering that needs to happen. Sigh, there’s always more to do, right? Oh well, at least David has a fun, new chair!
just one of the finest a new chair for david {thrifted} – Lisa Leonard Designs Blog I came across so far
Hey! I’m at work browsing your blog from my new iphone 4! Just wanted to say I love reading your blog and look forward to all your posts! Keep up the excellent work!
Hey there! Would you mind if I share your blog with my twitter group? There’s a lot of people that I think would really appreciate your content. Please let me know. Thanks
Lisa Leonard, gosh, I love ya.
Hi, I LOVE that “high chair”, A friend of mine just told me of your website/blog. Our son, Joey has CDLS, he is 16 years old. Joeys legs are very long as well, I am gonna keep my eye out for something like that for him ๐
Patty–so nice to meet you! Sending you and Joey hugs. Please keep in touch! xo
Great chair for David … Love it. Sounds like you had a wonderful vacation …cheers
Do you have to do anything special to a chair before spray painting it? I want to do that so badly, but don’t know if there are little tricks I should know :).
Hi Kelli! If the chair is already smooth I would say just go for it. If there is some paint that’s coming off, my best advice would be to briefly sand the chair. Hope this helps!
Great find! Piles of clutter make you real to the rest of us. ๐
Hey love it when I hear stories with you and others what did with thifts!!
Love that chair for David!!
Thank you Jennifer!
My grass looks like that too! A rainbow of colors!
I love your table and the chair is a wonderful addition. Your house does not look messy or cluttered, but I completely sympathize with the always more to do sentiment!
Thank you Tina, I tried not to show the clutter!
Great chair! We have a vintage youth chair that our daughter used forever, heck adults always tried to sit in it because it was such a good size.
I love vintage chairs, I bet it’s super cute!
I can’t wait to have a yard one day so I can do stuff like that. Great find and the color you picked is awesome.
Go, David. Keep growing and surprising us.
Nice job and so wonderful that it’s not “highchair looking”. Nice addition to the table! Cheerleading people at the blog today if you wanted to stop by. Also, LEGOs threw up in my house, too. It must be going around:-)
I’m glad you like it! It’s so nice to find David a chair that better suits him. Happy we can relate on the legos too. ๐
Very cool chair. What kind of paint and color. I was looking for that color yesterday for a project.
Linda, it’s Krylon ‘Blue Ocean Breeze’. And I used a gloss so I could wipe it down easier. xo
Love the chair. I love when the thrift store has exactly what I need. It reminds me that God is in every small detail of our lives and likes to delight us!
My boys are in OT and I have found very specific things that their therapists have recommended at our thrift stores. Yay!
That is really nice! I know a few kids that could use something like that. ๐ Does it have straps or do you not have to strap him in the chair? I love hearing about David!
