Our spare room has been somewhat neglected. It’s comfortable–but considering we have company staying with us a couple times a month, I wanted to spruce it up and make it prettier and more homey!
Above is a ‘before’ pic. I could have tidied it up {it didn’t always look quite this messy} but since I had plans to freshen it up–this is what you get! I loved that old bed frame, but it was actually pretty creeky–so I decided to replace it with two twin beds on simple metal frames.
The bedspreads are from Target {a couple years ago} and the striped sheets are from TJ Maxx. I wanted to keep this project affordable, so I used mostly things I already had on hand.
The velvet throw pillows are from Target and the aqua lamp is from TJ Maxx.
The knick knacks on the shelf are all things I already had–thrift store finds and some inexpensive vases from Ikea.
That big white frame was a garage sale find. I was going to spray paint it, but then I thought the large white frame was a nice balance to the window over the other bed.
Yay! All fresh and new–and so cozy! My sister and her family are staying with us and I hear the beds are comfy. I love a new, fresh room–don’t you?
Where are those white floating shelves from? Are they hard to put up? Looking for something like that but have no experience putting stuff like that on my walls.
I’ve decided I’m coming to stay in this room 🙂 xoxo
I love it! That bedding is so crisp and clean- very cute room!
Lovely! I’d be happy;)
Ohh that is very pretty. I love that you kept it fairly simple, and let the colors really have personality. 😀
Can you please come decorate my house? I need some serious help. My math/engineering brain has not one bit of creativity or decorating in there….
lisa! how adorable this turned out! i love the look of the twinsie beds! the colors are gorgeous together! i love that you used thrift store finds for fun things on the shelves! thanks for sharing! xo
BEATIFUL! You did a fantastic job!
Hey, I have those sheets! To have the same sheets as you somehow makes me feel better about myself :).
i love how fresh and light it is!
looks great, lisa.
Loving the two twin beds idea. What made you decide on that as opposed to one larger bed? I am on the fence and need to spruce up my own guest room before 7/1 when a friend comes to stay for….3.weeks. yes. 3.
Sometimes my sisters come to stay and sometimes couples stay. If it’s a couple we could push the beds together and twin beds seemed easier for singles. Three weeks? How fun! Have a great weekend Kelli!! xx
So cute and comfortable!
When I saw the title of your post, it made me think of when Lucy meets Mr. Tumnus when she first found Naria, and he thought she was from the land of “Spare Oom……….” LOL
karen:)
I wish I could decorate my daughter’s room like that, so fresh & pretty. Doesn’t even look like the same room! In a similar vein, I just posted a reveal yesterday of our master bedroom update. It’s seriously lacking some vintage pieces; still trying to figure out how to incorporate them.
Adorable! Fresh is the perfect word for those colors. Love the frame!
I love it ! So fresh and clean and those are my 2 favorite colors. I really thought I would have my extra rooms (2) ready for company arriving June 28th, but nothing is done. I always just give up my room and sleep on the couch, so far that works fine. But your room is so fresh, it motivates me to get mine done !
Too cute Lisa! I love it!!!!
Love you Summer!
love it, looks so fresh a complete different room. gives me ideas…..
It looks great! I can’t wait til you paint the bench in your entryway and show us!
Ahhh! I know. Must get on that!!
I love the two beds! And you are right about the mirror…it looks like a super small room, but the mirror definetly balances out the window and equates the scale, for sure. Great job! 🙂
Looks wonderful Lisa. I’m in love with that aqua lamp
I sooooo want that lamp.
I love the colors you chose the best.
What color is on the walls . It’s such a nice warm balance to the cool greens & blues.
Looks great! I love that you did a beautiful redo with mostly stuff you already had. You’ve got a great eye for the pretty stuff.
