i can’t believe how well everything went yesterday for david’s heart catheterization.

thank you thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers.

each of you is such a blessing to me. thank you.

david had to be at the hospital by 9am,

so we woke up, ate frosted flake crusted french toast at the hotel (um, yum!)

david didn’t get any 🙁

and headed over to ucla.

then we waited in pre-op for 5 hours (ugh!)

i was so anxious but the staff was amazing.

i seriously loved the anesthesiologist.

that’s the part i am most nervous about

and he took so much time to go over david’s history and make a safe plan with us.

everything looks great. david’s heart isn’t enlarged.

his lungs are the right size, no hypertension. yay!

so the next step is to plan open heart surgery to close up two little holes.

right now, we are so happy to be over this hurdle.

  2. So good to hear! As someone who has tried to amuse children in a waiting room for hours while being anxious, I reacted so strongly to that 5 hours! You mentioned it so casually but it must have been an incredible ordeal. So glad it is behind you and all is well. David rocks!

  13. Very glad for you that this test went well. Will pray for the surgery, too. Pre-op is the pits – especially when they are running late and the poor kid has been starving (well fasting anyway) so long already. I loved our anesthesiologist for so many reasons. He was pretty much the only Dr that treated me as more than just an anxious mom, but also as a thinking person. I appreciated him so much.

  17. Lisa, that is sweet news! God is merciful and faithful! I can’t imagine all the emotions swirling around in your head and heart. Thank you for sharing your journey with us…it’s hard to be vulnerable. But I want to tell you that God has given you a measure of grace that is evident and so encouraging! Continue to rest in the great physician for David’s healing….he’s mighty to save! 🙂

  54. So glad to hear it went well. My daughter D had surgery to close an ASD and VSD about a year ago and I remember all too well the panic during her cath, then during the surgery itself. It was very successful. By the way, I wear one of your necklaces in memory of D’s twin.

  61. Lisa, my daughter was found to have a hole in her heart a few days after she was born. We stressed and worried, but then remembered all things are in the Lord’s hands. She was scheduled to go have the hole closed shortly before her 3rd birthday and the week before I had our church family praying for her, for us. The week before surgery we went in for another consultation to discuss the procedure and more exams…The hole was no longer there! I’ve never seen so many pediatricians and specialists coming in and out to verify the results! I believe in prayer. Be strong, keep your faith!
