you’ve heard the phrase, ‘easy as pie’? well, this is even easier than pie!
*
How to…
step 1. peel, core, slice apples. i used 10 gala apples. well we munched while we worked, so, 9 1/2 apples.
step 2. place apples in bottom of greased baking dish (this is where my little helpers hop in).
step 3. sprinkle white cake mix (straight from the box) and cinnamon until top is covered. used about 3/4 of the box.
step 4. place butter slices here and there. i used 1 1/2 cubes of butter.
step 5. bake at 350 for about 40 minutes–or until apples are soft and crumb topping is crumbly–not very scientific, but it’s hard to mess up!
step 6. serve with ice cream and hot caramel–or alone. oh yum!

you can also use canned peaches, frozen berries–any fruit. and it makes the whole house smell like fall! what’s cookin’ in your kitchen?
Oh goodness!! Thanks SOOO much for posting this. I have been wanting to make something like this but every recipe I see is too involved..and let’s face it..I’m a SUPER L A Z Y cook! but THIS? This is right up my alley!! Off to the store to buy the ingredients! YUM!!
went to the farmers market today for apples JUST so I could try this. It’s in the oven now 🙂 I also added brown sugar. Thanks!
My mom has one of those apple peelers that she ordered when i was in preschool from The Pampered Chef and never used. We broke it out and made your apple crisp recipe and it was wonderful!
Thank You for sharing,
Courtney =]
looks like so gooood!! Thanks for sharing,Lisa!
Sooo much easier than the one I made a few days ago!
Took a similar pumpkin dessert to work, and it was a BIG hit.
I L.O.V.E. apple crisp! I actually bought some Honey Crisp and Granny Smith apples today just to make a crisp! Costco had huge bags of cranberries, and thought, lets throw some in there too.
Y.U.M. Even my picky 3 year old gobbled it up!
I just got a ton of apples. This will definatey be on my menu to take to our friends this weekend. Thanks.
now this is my idea of baking….YUM !
hi christi! yeah, i just eyeball it. i used quite a bit–but it really flavors the apples. i sprinkled it over the entire top. may 1/4″ total? xo
This may be a goofy question but how much cinnamon do I use? Is it just kinda an eyeball it thing?
This is fabulous. I’m going try it! Thanks!
I am so making this tonight!!!! Those pictures look like the essence of fall.
Oh YUM! There’s nothing I like better than a fruity dessert. I’d take it over chocolate any day!
Looks delicious. I have one of those apple corer/peeler thingys and I can’t figure out how to work it 🙁
That looks so yummy. Can’t wait to try it. Just went to the apple orchard again yesterday. So we have lots of apples.
I sooo love the tint of your photos … I wish I knew all the fancy tricks that take photographs to the next level. I look forward to yours.
xo
This recipe is awesome! Thanks!
this is a favorite in our house with peaches!!!!!
That looks so good. I have a similar recipe but it is Pumpkin Pie Cake. Pumpkin pie filling with the cake mix/butter over top.
I’ll have to try this one!
I’ve done this before too, but with canned peaches or a bag of frozen raspberries – it is wonderful as well – and don’t forget the vanilla bean icecream!!!
Oh my gosh, that sounds and looks delicious!
oh what yummminessss…..
my little one is begging for another loaf, or two , of chocolate chip pumpkin bread. she & i both LOE it…but i LOVE it a little too much
sigh
xo
Sounds yummy but an apple peeler would def help make it easier!
Yum, I love apple crisp, especially with custard on top. One day we are going to get one of those apple peelers, then it won’t be such a chore.
MMMMMmmmm…. I have a easy apple crisp recipe that uses the canned apple pie filling… but I had never thought of using the cake mix! That is a great idea! Thanks… Can you guess what is for dessert tonight?
yuuuuuumy!
Love those apple peelers! I always wanted to use ours as a kid. Well, a younger kid. =)
Thanks, Lisa. I now know what my girls and I will be doing after school today! 🙂
