i’m the kind of mom who…

loves to spend time with my boys but needs regular breaks.

taking a trip with my sisters is ideal, because they are so helpful with the boys, and I can get away here and there or catch a nap. during the week, i treasure my time alone, but miss the boys when we are apart. i used to think i was more of an extrovert, but i’ve come to think i am actually more of an introvert. i definitely want to be the one who nurtures and care for my sweet boys, but i also need time away. do other moms feel that way?

  1. Oh yeah, I totally understand this one. I love my daughter — I love being a mom. But some days, I just need to be alone! I know I come back to her better able to be a good mom.

  2. I know I need that time away! Although I love doing it, it always feels good to get back home.b
I have always thought of myself as an extrovert too…but now I’m starting to wonder!

    Enjoying your blog!

  3. i really like getting to know you. you and your sisters are so cute – you all look so much alike! i hope your having a great time! let me know when you get back.

  4. jacquelyn – i totally feel the same way about my time alone. i feel guilty the whole time, and generally don’t think of something great to do.

  5. I got my jewelry at the end of last week. I LOVE it!! I have received many compliments on the blue jewelry and the stamped. Thanks again! Btw…I’m glad you were able to take a break!

  6. I don’t know if I’m an “innie” or an “outie” but I do know that interacting with others totally revives my soul. I long for “alone time” but when I get any I either feel guilty or can’t remember all the things I wanted to do once I got a moment to myself! Motherhood is so conflicting!! Have fun in Palm Springs, say ‘hi’ to the Chocolate Mountains for me!

  7. i’m an introvert. and i usually don’t need in need a break until i take one and thing, “oh my goodness, this is soooo great!” don’t get me wrong, i’m no super mom. i just have a hard time recognizing the need for a break–it just kind of creeps up slowly. i usually count the hours until mike comes home at night too… some one to help with the kids while i actually get something done (like finish making dinner, start or finish a load of laundry, etc.).

  8. Lisa, I’m an extrovert and I definitely need breaks from Caedra. I love her to pieces, but she doesn’t fulfill that social time that I need, since our conversations consist of weird noises and single words. =) And I think after hearing “MAMA” for the 1500th time anyone would need a moment of peace. =)

  9. In our family, my husband Mark is the one who stays home with the kids while I work outside the home. I tend to look at time at home with my sons as my refueling time!
    🙂

  10. i also feel i’m an introvert. but i don’t feel the need to be alone so much as the need for a break with some help. don’t get me wrong – every once in awhile i need to get some alone time, but most often i’d rather just have sean at home helping with the kids.
so i see you’re all in sweatshirts. did you forget you’re in palm springs? where’s the pool?

  11. definitely agree….i’m going back to work in sept. (teacher) and it will be bittersweet, but it will just make me appreciate my time with my babe all the more. small breaks are great for refueling. j

  12. So fun! Breaks are great, but I rarely have them. My kids don’t do preschool so I’m with them all week. (I’m definitely an introvert, all the way.)

If my parents lived in town Kevin and I would try to get out every week or two, but for now we just enjoy our alone time from 7:30 pm on, and the occasional date. Sometimes life feels overwhelming, but that usually passes and we’re good to go again (God is so merciful). Our kids won’t be toddlers forever and we take comfort in that! (Though at the same time it’s really sad to think about our little ones growing up!)

Glad you get to have such fun sister time!

  13. Totally understand.

    And excuse me, quads?????????????
Jeez, one of your parents has strong genes if not!
