When we went camping in San Simeon we headed out early one morning to explore the tide pools at low tide. I’m not big on getting moving early in the morning but on this particular day, it was totally worth it! We saw so many amazing creatures. The adults loved it just as much as the kiddos.
You can see last year’s visit to the tide pools here and our visit in 2009 here. Wow the kids are growing up! Sniff. I love doing the same thing year after year–that’s what memories are made of, right?
What is something you love to do year after year?
Oh my gosh i loved these images! It’s amazing how pictures can share so much more than just a story!!!
It looks like y’all had a fantastic time! 🙂
Amazing pictures, as usual. Love seeing how happy and awestruck chilren look when they are exploring! You have a beautiful family!
Visiting the tidepools in California was one of my all time favorite things to do as a kid. SO much fun! I wonder if we have anything similar in Utah

We visit a farm in Princeton, NJ every October with my daughter who was one the first time we went and she is now 13 and she still loves it. I have pictures of her on a horse each year and I can’t believe how big she has gotten. Great memories.
Thank you for sharing so much wonder with us! You have the ability to capture such sweet moments on camera. 🙂
Love all the pictures- so cool. We go to the same beach spot every year! We love walking along the beach discovering shells and creatures.
Looks like so much fun! What a wonderful time together studying all that amazing sea life. Can you believe all the things the ocean holds?
I love how happy David looks to be exploring the tide pools!
We go to the Washington coast to Seabrook each September with three other families. I think it’s safe to say each and every person cherishes it. I love everything about it, but I especially love how the men stop by our little bungalow’s kitchen (each fam rents a bungalow) to see what I’ve been cooking and to “sample.”I love looking at the pictures of our kids playing together as they grow.
We’re starting to think of buying a pop-up camper! Can you believe it, after all of my negative camping comments the other week?!
Awesome pictures! i just love the picture of your husband and son, David! There is so much love on their face’s!
Lisa, your images are lovely! What a fun experience. My family will be in your area next weekend (Avila Beach, specifically). Do you have any recommendations for tide pools over that way? Thanks so much. My oldest daughter (same age as your Matthias) would go nuts for some sea life.
