  1. We got married in Arroyo Grande and had a classic, Santa Maria style BBQ reception for our 400+ guests. We had the grill masters (my dad’s boss and family) cook for us to cut costs. 6 years ago!

  3. My husband & I had a Cape Cod themed wedding – that’s where we met!! Our wedding cake had seashells cascading down the sides. The food was delicious! Our reception was in a barn – turned into a reception hall, filled with old antiques, and flower meadows outside. It was a beautiful- but hot- July day. Our 11th anniversary is right around the corner!!!

  4. I got married in Aug. in Irvine, CA…almost 11 yrs. ago now…funny, I don’t remember the food that well…my mom helped pick a lot of stuff as I was overwhelmed with only 4 mos. to plan my wedding. We had some kind of chicken that I barely recall eating…BUT..what I do remember was the cake..we had each layer a different kind…banana, carrot cake..were 2 of my favorites and the top small layer was for my hubby..it was chocolate with a cream and cherry center b/c that’s his favorite. 🙂 YUMMY. And we got a free repeat of that layer on our first anniv. I had some of it in the freezer for like 5 years I think.

  5. We are getting married in two weeks!!! For dinner we are serving a New York strip steak or Pork Loin with sides of roasted veggies and potatoes, fruit salad, spinach salad and pasta salad etc. The Sea Shanty from Cayucos is catering and I’ve heard it is to die for! Can’t wait!!!

  6. I love how different the weddings are on the west coast…it seems like New York is what other bling and nonsense we can throw at it. The new thing here now is fireworks and two dresses, one for the ceremony one for the reception, baskets at the reception filled with new flip flops and slippers for dancing, crazy favors, like candles in crystal….it’s all just too much…..I think people forget that it’s a sacrament. I love how your weddings are so understated and elegant….beautiful!

  7. It was July and HOT! (after the thunderstorm that blew through during the ceremony! ) lol It was not a super formal or precious (for lack of a better word) shindig. We served cold cuts and cheeses, homemade rolls, salads galore, chips, cake, and homemade cream cheese mints. Not a fancy dinner but the day was filled with happiness and fun with our family and friends. Rachel and Erik’s wedding looked lovely!

  8. My husband and I married almost three years ago at the local metroparks. We had a picnic with our guests and served – croissants, 3 salads (potato, broccoli, baked beans), fruit, chips in a little white box tied up with a beautiful sage green ribbon and a sprig of baptisia. We served lemonade, limeade and iced tea in large green glass jugs.

  9. My husband was getting ready to leave for bootcamp 3 days after we got married. It was going to be the last time alot of people seen him so his mom made a huge meal. Brisket, beans, potatoes, the works! It was so wonderful!

  10. What a gorgeous wedding!!
We had a west coast buffet (living in Vancouver, Canada). Lots of salmon, seafood and salads. And we had cupcakes, because it’s been our petname for each other since we met. We didn’t have time to eat much, but what I did taste was amazing!

  11. That was a gorgeous wedding.

    We had simple finger foods.

That’s why I SO enjoyed the reception my daughter planned for her wedding last year: Lowcountry Boil (Beaufort Stew) Spinach-Artichoke Dip with Pita chips, strawberries with chocolate dip, vegetable trays and fresh homemade bread with Lemon-Blackberry Cake as the finale. It was all wonderful….a southern spring wedding.

  12. I just love weddings and what they represent.

My husband and I were married at The Little Church of La Villita in San Antonio, TX. It was a magical day. We celebrated the occasion with our ten-year old twin daughters. We took all our own pictures. They are the best! I believe we had Marble Slab ice cream afterwords to celebrate!!

Denise C: I grew up in the Cayman Islands, so I know the Grand Old House very well. It is a very special spot.

  13. What a beautiful couple! Love the paper umbrellas too!!

We were married over 11 years ago in an old mansion here in MN. We had the service at the top of the porch steps, with all the guests looking on from chairs set up in the front yard. We served
hors d’ oeuvres and sipped champagne early evening…danced…and ended with a bit of coffee and Baileys (together of course!). It was incredibly fun, and a night to remember!!

    That’s for letting me reminisce-
    Joanne

  14. Lisa, these pictures are beautiful, especially the last one.. We got married in Greenwich, CT around 10:00 in the morning so we went down to the antique district and found a small little sandwich shop for the locals. Oh it was so good, nothing fancy, but I was with the man of my dreams and it did not matter!

  15. Whenever you post wedding photos I want to have a wedding again each summer!!

We had a “live action pasta bar” where you got to choose your own pasta type and your own sauce and garnish. I hear it was fun!

  16. I love the ideas for this wedding! That is one beautiful bride!
We had a thanksgiving wedding – we served a turkey dinner and pumpkin pie. We had pumpkin centerpieces and gourds and bales and wheat decorations. Our flowers were oranges and reds and yellows. The bridesmaids wore brown dresses and the groomsman wore brown ties and vests. My dress was a champagne, so it had a brownish tinge (that sounds ugly, but it wasnt!) It was a dream. Thanksgiving is my favourtie time of year. Plus, I am Canadian so Thanksgiving is in October, so it was still warm!

  17. These pics are beautiful! I love an outdoor wedding.
We had a big fancy buffet complete with champagne at our wedding. The reception was held in a beautiful historic hotel here in Nashville and it was like a fairy tale for me. We had such a great time. Funny though… we didn’t even eat until the reception was over and we were in our honeymoon suite!

  18. Hi Lisa!
I recognize that winery! I live in the Bay Area!
And, YUM on serving Indian food at the wedding!
We got married 8 years ago & the food was really good. We had a chicken pasta dish or Pork Chop with cranberry/apple chutney. It was SO good!

  19. I love when you post weddings. They are all so beautiful, you can just feel LOVE.
I also like seeing all the unique things that each Bride chooses…the dress, the flowers, how she does her hair…
We were married in December. In MINNESOTA! I loved how our church was decorated, with giant trees all lite with white lights. I didn’t have the money to spend on flowers like I would have wished…
Our day was GORGEOUS. It was sunny 46 and not a speck of snow. We had roast beef and a chicken dish to choose from. I remember tasting the chicken: it had this creamy sauce and dried cranberries, and thinking this is heaven! But I have to admit I loved the cake more. One layer was chocolate with chocolate mousse filling and the other was white cake with lemon and strawberry filling. I had one of each! and before my meal, because I eat dessert first!
    It will be our 9 years this year, I have been {whispering} how I’d like to renew our vows at ten…It’s going to be on a beach somewhere…{crossing my fingers}

  20. Beautiful photos! What a lovely bride! Our wedding was wonderful. Fall themed, on a golf course with great views, yummy food, and lots of great music and dancing! To top it off – we served carrot cake with cream cheese frosting…YUM!

  21. we got married in the morning just so we could serve a brunch buffet! chicken, salmon, pasta, an omelet station, bacon, pastries, fresh fruit, etc. it was sooo delicious & people still tell me it was the best food they’ve had at a wedding! definitely worth getting up crazy early!!

  22. hi lisa…

what a magnificent wedding. just love the setting. the bridesmaids look lovely and the couple are handsome and cute. congratulations to them and thank you for sharing such pretty images this morning.

    have a great day.

  23. we want to have: buffet style, a huge huge huge platter of mac & cheese (rice noodles please!), a bunch of roasted/grilled seasonal veggies, i guess some chicken or something for the meat-eaters, and then lemon-poppyseed cupcakes with vanilla buttercream and strawberries.

yes. mac and cheese. why would you want anything else? :]

  24. The most delicious chicken piccatta, caesar salad, rolls, and rosemary mashed potatoes. However, the best part of the meal was dessert–our wedding cake was to die for!

  25. I can’t believe I’m about to admit this, but I honestly don’t even remember! oh, the shame! 😉 It’s only been 4 years, too!!! Oh well…I remember that our cake was beautiful & elegant and had buttercream frosting…is that good enough? 🙂

  26. My husband & I married on a jetty, at The Grand Old House, on Grand Cayman Island. It was just the two of us. We ate a surf-n-turf dinner, drank champagne, & my husband surprised me with a beautiful little (since it was just us) vanilla cake, with buttercream frosting, & fresh fruit. It was so magical. 🙂
My husband was my high school sweetheart. We dated for 4 months in high school before we broke up, & he moved away. We reconnected 5 years later, dated for 4 years, I was proposed to on our 4 year anniversary (a surprise trip to Hawaii!), & married 4 months later! 🙂
