it’s wednesday and i’m linking up with lindsey from the pleated poppy for some fashion inspiration!
this is the same gray skirt and gray tights from last week. but this week i mixed it up differently–and with a lot of color! the inspiration for this outfit definitely came from the shoes. they are poetic license and found at a local boutique called ambiance. it was love at first sight. then a lot of debating if i could justify them and finally acceptance. they were meant to be mine.
on my wrist, our devoted bracelet. skirt, tights, cardigan all from target. gray tee from kohls.
that adorable necklace? allora handmade of course! psst! there is an allora handmade giveaway over here!!
david is super into what i wore wednesdays. he wants to be in all the pictures with me!
i get a lot of questions about what i wore wednesday. here are some answers…
how do you shoot the pictures? i use a tripod and the timer on my camera. my family likes to mock me while i shoot pics, so i try to do it when no one is around {except david :)}
how long does it take you to get ready in the morning? getting ready doesn’t take all that long–i pick out an outfit and blowdry my hair. blowdrying takes a lot longer than picking out my outfit.
how do you build an outfit? i usually have one piece that i want to wear {like a dress, top or shoes} and i build the outfit from there. most of the pieces i wear are pretty basic with a pop of color or interest here or there.
how do you know what pieces to splurge on and what pieces to buy for less? i love love love a good deal. i find awesome stuff at target, tj maxx and old navy. i also love thrifting–you can find some super pieces that are unique and affordable. i’ll splurge on something here or there if it is really unique and fun or if it fits well and i’ll wear it often.
have any other what i wore wednesday questions for me? leave them in the comments and i’ll try to answer them!
Beautiful! I love love the color combination! If I have to wear that here, I might need to shed the stockings though, as I live in the tropics. 🙂 Just the same, you look absolutely fabulous! Happy Halloween to you and your family!
Love your site and your whole vintage style! I do want to know about your gorgeous hair. Do you have a body perm? Do you have highlights? If so how often do you color or perm etc…
I am wanting a little more umph. to my natural curly hair.
Thanks!
Hi Kara! I don’t have a perm, but I do put lowlights and highlights in my hair about every three months. hugs to you!
Oh, you look gorgeous. I want my hair cut like yours!
you are looking smokin’ hot miss lisa.
skinny mama.
🙂
LOVE the outfit…(wish I were your size)….here’s a question you probably didn’t expect – What paint color is on your wall? I am in pursuit of the perfect gray. Am ramping up to a total redo on my home…no more taupe & sage!! Gray IS the new taupe, right?
one of my favorite outfits ever! this is adorable on you!!
Beautiful bracelet and your shoe’s look great.
As always. Fabulous! Love that your vase and cardi coordinate- like a magazine. 😉 I need to take posing tips from you. Did you get that skirt at Target recently? Looks like a great fall/winter weight. Is it lined? PS LOVE the new shoes.
Beautiful color combination! Those shoes are too pretty and fun. 🙂
You look amazing! I love the way that you styled the skirt this week ! You are truly an inspiration ! Blessings, Deb
such a sense of style…and fun clothes…how does age figure into dressing and style?
Your diet is agreeing with you, girl. Good job, chica.
Love the color combo! A couple weeks ago my family and I were out to dinner at Taco Temple when we saw you eating with your family. I was drooling over your outfit, the scarf in particular 🙂 I am new to following blogs and stumbled across yours shortly after! I love how small our world is! your jewelry and family are beautiful. Blessings to you and your family, hopefully you are surviving this heat:/

I love the mix of colors that you put together…You are adorable in everything, but I especially like this ensemble.
God Bless and have a great day!
You look adorable! I like the font on your site. It really pops.
New follower from WIWW 🙂
I have curly hair too and would love it if you did a post on your hair routine! Your hair is magnificent! I have SOME good hair days – but your hair is perfection in every picture!
p.s. my husband bought me the lovely “i love you” bracelet. It is so special to me and means so much!
YOU LOOK BEAUTIFUL!!! Love the color scheme! Your pretty red shoes go well with the gorgeous yellow neclace!!! Gorgeous!!!! Love seeing David in the pics! he is such a cutie! i am an art teacher and love to dress fun too!
I think you always look beautiful!

cute outfit…love the shoes.
I’ve followed your blog for a long time….and I have noticed the past few weeks how great you look! Are you still dieting?! You look absolutely fantastic!!!!!
Hey Lisa, you look AMAZING in your shoes! Thanks so much for the link. Stop by the shop again soon! xoxo
I love this outfit! And it’s neat to see the tights and skirt styled two different ways!
love love love the shoes.
Hi Lisa!
How do you blowdry your curly hair? 🙂
I love your outfits and pops of color! Plus I envy your beautiful mantel!

K, that grey skirt is a serious GEM! I love it.
This outfit looks great on you! And those shoes are phenomenal.
Love, love, love those shoes!
My boys want to be in the pictures all the time now too! Always love your outfits!
Love your outfit! Any advice on how to develop a sense of style? I’m in my early 40’s and still struggling with what pieces to buy and wear.
Awesome shoes, & I love that skirt; I’m going to have to look harder at my Target. And I never, ever seem to have success with Old Navy, except for t-shirts.
Very fascinated to hear that you blow-dry your hair. If I did that to my thick, curly hair, I’d be a human dandelion! I assume you use a diffuser, but that would take too long for me.
oh my those shoes are adorable. you made the right decision to splurge 🙂
love love love your style!!! im swooning over those gorgeous shoes!!!
You look great today! Such a cute outfit and it really suits you.
LOVE those shoes!! They complete the look!
those shoes are over-the-top-to-die-for!
So in love w/this outfit! Top to bottom, especially the shoes! OMG Very cute and can see why you “had” to have them!! 🙂 You have a great sense of style and color combo’s, something I wish I had. I am almost 40 and still haven’t found “my style”, lol not sure if I will @ this point!
Look forward to seeing what you wore every wk!
Love the shoes! 🙂 I just splurged on a pair of Poetic License shoes too. Mine are a gorgeous green polka dot. I just “had” to have them… Yours are adorable.
I adore Target for shopping! Cheap but super cute! And wearing mustard yellow with blue is one of my favorite combinations, so you’re outfit hit the spot with me 🙂
As for getting ready in the morning…well, that’s another story. I’m a grad student, and most of my time is spent studying or sitting in class…so I usually don’t really “get ready” in the mornings. More like, throw my hair up, brush my teeth, put some sweats on and run out the door!
Love David sneaking in the picture – you should include him in at least one every week – what he wore Wednesday!
OK, are the shoes comfy? They look like they might be…
Oh my! Those shoes were definitely worth it!
You look beautiful, and those shoes are Perfect:) I always look forward to see what you are wearing on Wed.:)
Absolutely in love with your color combinations today. Don’t even get me started on those shoes that are too sweet for words (I’ll send you my dentist bill for the cavity I just got)!
Questions: Do you think your style has changed over the years? In what ways and when? When did you notice you had a style all your very own?
Yes, target and old navy are my top stores. Kohls and Vanity are places I go sometimes, but am not as lucky there. I would like to thank you for all your website. The pictures and outfits are so inspiring to me. I love photography but always get caught up in everyday life. I yet have to learn to use my SLR effectively! It is just so amazing how different I look at my surroundings when looking through the lense. It makes me more mindful, which is a big deal to me. Anyhow, thank you 🙂
